Im so glad you made this video. Im in Negros islamd amd got some talapia fry a couole weeks ago first time. Ive just been feeding them tropical fish food and mosquito larve i find in our otger animals water buckets. Im going to chop a bannana leaf and papaya leaf to give them that. We had a forest fire come through here and our water tank got burned near the top. It still holds like 800 liters so we had bought a new tank and this little bjt melted top tank was just sitting here. So i thought i was going to build a big cement pond or ponds. And we will. Ut for now this is fun. Thanks :)
These types of beautiful hobby should be introduced in Prisons aswell ... Nature is just wild unpredictable and Beautiful at the same time ... Nothing but Man ... ❤ from Nepal 🙏🏼
Good day, sir. I'm a South African living in Vietnam. Thank you very much for the advice regarding papaya and banana. May I ask, what other plants/vegetables have you successfully fed to them?
Now that was a good video it revolved around fishing 😀., When they get big enough to eat fish for them let the kids have some fun.... The ones that catch will be the chosen ones that God let them have ❤️
Since we’ve seen this project we’ve been considering a set up for ourselves and neighbours. I’ll be sure to follow your progress on this topic well as others you’re working in. Really good content, keep up the great work!
Hi James I think your ideas are really good, my problem would be harvesting and eating them I wouldn't be able to haha As I aid I know nothing about Tilapia but plenty about Koi I use to put leftover bread rice veg and fruit. I now live on a houseboat On the mighty Murray river and have a large school of European carp that I feed every morning for fun. great video
Self sustaining aquaponics, thats gonna be excellent project. U never know whats in that store bought feed.Sustainability, chemicals free and keeping price down is the key and having fun at it ofcourse :). Great job again James keep it going!
I see there was some pretty good size ones already. Its looking good there and you can waist a day just watching them swim around I think if I was to build one my 5 year old boy would diving in it trying to catch them or go swimming and I could just hear his mom yelling It's good to have your fish to eat.
I've watched videos where they keep a separate pond just for growing duckweed, and transfer handfuls to the fishpond as required. Apparently there is enough protein and nutrients in duckweed for them to live on that alone.
We are growing milk fish , in one side of our fish pond and we are growing , Barramundi fish in our other side the Barramundi will eat everyone they are ruthless, We have kind of shifted away from the Baramundi because the food supply was difficult for them but now that I’m seeing what you’re doing with the tilapia it’s really got me thinking that maybe we should try some tilapia in our pond also
@@THENEWWRANGLER I think they go a fair way inland in the northern rivers of Australia, I've even heard that you can taste the difference between sea caught and river caught. I suppose I was wondering if they only go up river to spawn, or if some of them stay there.
This is really a good video, that's what also I was thinking, what if the supply chain cuts out (kinda have a prepper mind set). What I plan is aquaponic system with solar powered pumps, vegetables on the top, tilapia fish on the bottom and the pump would cycle the water, my only problem was food for tilapia but after watching your video, I learned that you could feed them just banana leaves and with that I can have a mini self sufficient food supply.
Outstanding James. I'm been wanting to grow my own Talapia! Seriously, I'm going to be a fish farmer soon, it's on my first things to do list when we get back. 👍🏻👍🏻
I like the way your trying to keep your family as self sufficient as possible. I'm looking for a nice size property so we can grow food crops have pigs, chicken's and fish.
Now you are videos got real interesting... Something I'm interested in fish 😄... Now when are you going to start working on your boat that's what I want to see 🤪🤪🤪
Hey you’re gonna need something todo after the build. Tilapia seems to be a great choice considering that they all enjoy them. The shrimp would also work because they feed on the bottom and wont compete with the fish. Might look into how to reduce nitrate in the water once every get bigger in size. In Tagalog catfish is Hito. FYI
If it makes you happy it makes me smile . 😃 will the grown talipia eat small prones James? One question can I bring my bream buster with me & fish in your tank when I come for a visit lmao 🤣 ????? POWER ON GOD BLESS ALL ...
Tilapia are delicious and easy to grow. You are talking to a Walleye fisherman in Northern Minnesota. Nothing beats a walleye fillet except some cold water sunfish and crappie. Tilapia are a tender flakey white meat and very tasty. Just talking fresh water fish, yo. Maybe you need a better cook or recipe.
if you worry about the mosquito then may be you should put a mosquito net upon it! what i'm worried about in your telapia fond is that how would you maintain the oxygen level of it so that the fish woudl grow healthy and strong!?
You told me you put your GoPro away. Maybe you should bring it out for these videos. If you have a nine or later they. Can be used underwater without a waterproof case. I think they are good for 10 meters. Just thought you and your viewers would enjoy a little underwater video and it’s a shame to pay that much for a camera and not use it.
Was never a fan of one. Not until I had one from a restaurant (with fish pond) in the way to subic bay. Man, that was so good. Expensive but good. I even went off the path going home just to have some. Added 2hrs of driving but I still went lol

That is very cool way to feed them
Make sure the kids use a bamboo Pole like we used to do when we were kids 👍🏻
Watching the fish eat the papaya stalks is relaxing and pretty dam cool.
It is I agree

Pond is looking good. Feeding naturally is best way.enjoy your pond.
bien amigo gracias por compartir muy interesante
Very interesting. I am a beginner of fish raising at home scale and papaya and banana feed impresses.
Living the dream James and looking great.

Can Barramundi live in fresh water? I have a feeling they can do both, like a salmon.
@@Jesse-B We were growing them in brackish water and they did fantastic

cool vegetarian Tilapia
wow those fish are growing may be eating a few in a couple months
Can you imagine if you find yourself with 50 full grown tilapia! I love deep friend ones. Grilled ones are good too, spicy soy sauce with kalamansi
Currently hundreds in there
Some good fried and grilled tilapia next time will be amazing with those blue moons guaranteed
I was thinking about those Blue Moons today!!!! I was like damn Edward roll back here
@@TexasFilipino days like that make me think harder on relocating sooner good and cold ones always go down better man o man
Awesome
You were probably happier when I didn't comment... Well I'm back 🤫🤐😂
LOL funny
@@TexasFilipino I'm sorry 😄😄😄 I'll try to behave myself 🤪
Interesting! Didn't know they are mostly vegetarian.
You can feed them smashed sardines it’s organic and full of protein and omega three fatty
Soon will be your first catch when their big enough including your first bite on a nicely cooked fish
Papaya flavored tilapia

Very instructional I learned a new name for catfish pen tap?¿?

Bring it! That would be funny
Maybe some bass from the mainland
Need to find a way to bring in some channel catfish.
👍🇺🇸👍
You should get your workers to dangle their feet in there at the end of each day. The tilapia would get a great feed lol
Ewww I wont be eating those fish then
If you want to get em some protein some hard boiled egg yolks do the trick.
Thanks for tbe tip but then what will i eat lol. :) good tip
Got an idea for ya. Find a sculptor to make you a little kid holding cane pole fishing in the tank. Or peeing either one would be cool
Haha nice
There more info this year. Thanks
Consider a insect trap ? That will give them live food-. Check it out here, floating insect trap, no power needed really.
Can I test my new lures in your pond 🤪
Sure - I will throw some barbed wire down in there just for you
Have you got them all ear tagged yet?

Throw a few ducks on top and get some good eggs.

Is it wise to feed papeya plant to tilapia? Is there any risk?
Tillapia are a little to fishy tasting for me .Are there any fish like our walleye or perch in the Philippines.
According to how they was raised will affect the flavor
Some of them are getting up it size if you only stock with them little tiny minions
How many grams a tilapia grows in this food in 6months
Will you have to worry about any birds wanting to feast on your fish when they get a little bigger?
No birds here much- if its can be caught it gets ate.
@@TexasFilipino 😂
Unfortunately very little wildlife in the Phil other then snakes and lizards. Oh and ants lol
raise some snails and crayfish
If I am remembering correctly you have more pond than fish
Just be careful to keep the frogs and toads out they can wipe out a small pond!
You should be fine now as they are well started but in the future they can trash a small pond and eat the fry
You should give tips to Brian about how to do it
You can’t tell him anything, he seems to know it all

If you keep giving your fish the finger, will they rebel ?
They are growing fast.
Not long now before they will be de-boned and garnished
Have you thought about Freshwater Perch?
Fried they taste a little like Plaice or Flounder, but feeding and propagating them may be an obstacle ?
I never liked cat fish,
