Most others in the class said Yankees in 5 or Yankees in 6, coach said Yankees in 7. 😂

Given what they apparently told Montoyo, the four umpires got together and jointly concluded that, due to some trash talking getting a little heated, Heineman (Blue Jays catcher) called for a beanball in a tie game, and the pitcher (Garcia) simply went along with it. So they not only ejected Garcia on really flimsy grounds, they decided to double down and insult his intelligence on top of it.
You got to give Montoyo credit for how he handled everything. He faced two situations in the same game where a manager freak out on the ump would be totally called for and yet he seemed pretty calm and reasonable both times. If the situation was flipped and the Yankees were suffering the umpires' wrath Boone would not have made it to the second situation.

I’ve never hated umps more- each new Jomboy ump vid renews my distaste for them. We should develop a system that eliminates the umps interfering with the game. Actually that’s a horrible idea- I don’t lose money on the games or play for any teams- but I do luv me some Jomboy- so f it.
I know Jomboy is a big time yankees guy, but the shot of Judge, Cole, Stanton and Rizzo Laughing after the pitcher and pitching coach get tosses, is exactly the reason why every smiles when the yankees lose.

What happened to the umpire immediately pointing to the pitcher saying "This is your warning, the next one your out." and then continuing on with the game. Instead, we get a bunch of officials having a conference, slowing down the game, all voting like some elite oligarchy and then throwing out half the team effectively influencing the game, pitiful.
From what I understood, and I believe Jomboy mentioned it during the Mariners/Angels brawl video that, that apparently MLB thought the umpires physically getting together and discussing the situation would be a good way to open some time for heads to be allowed to cool. That supposedly just issuing warning or ejection was too quick and was causing too many hot headed moments, idk. It’s all lame really. Takes too long like you said.
I feel like on principle, because specifically the previous batter was a home run the pitcher needs to go. Kinda like head to head collision in Football, most guys never intentionally do it. But if it happens you have to follow the letter of the law. If they weren’t you’d end up with pitchers taking acting classes to get away with it (or bad acting people are dumb).
@@gagecollie2180 And Refs should realize that ball carriers lean into helmet to helmet contact? What's the difference? The history that baseball has and the extreme danger of a baseball moving at 80-100mph makes this a black and white issue from my perspective. But I view this as a "We need pitchers to be more aware of their throws ESSPECIALLY in this situation, were here to play a game not kill/maim anyone." Again it should be a no tolerance rule, simply because of history and potential danger. I really do believe in these situations it should be "the powers at be" who throw out that pitcher. and force there there to be a hearing/review to decide whether the pitch was intentional or not for the purposes of fines and/or suspension.
@@Fityfo54 i don’t believe it to be this way balls get away and people shouldn’t be tossed for a ball getting away at the head maybe but at the back worst that happens is a bad bruise, head to head contact often can lead to concussions and/or neck injuries which are much more dangerous

They have, not only a memory, but an ego that usually shows up in games after they've already made atrocious calls. They feel the need to 'show who is boss'. Ideally umps should be invisible throughout a game. Unfortunately that very fact is why we see such overreactions and horrendous calls with regularity.

@@mrboobyhead Vegas wants games to be close until the end so either team can win. This is entirely obvious in the NFL. Umpires got a contract negotiation coming up this year or something? Because they're affecting the gameplay in a very public way and the last time they did that they negotiated by strong arming "we control the pace of play, we can choose to ruin or reinvigorate baseball, raise our pay."
@@HoshizakiYoshimasa you don't need attention span for stickball, just some inspiration. We're an A's family. Lack of attention span definitely isn't our problem.
Another great episode of The Umpire Show! Ending sucked though. Something kind of similar happened in 2015 between the Royals and Blue Jays in August. Volquez brushed him back high later (no ejection), Madson beaned Tulo in the chest (no ejection) and then brushed Donaldson back high (no ejection). Sanchez beaned Escobar in the mid leg and got immediately tossed.
Baseball could be so easily improved if they just didnt let umps throw anybody out. You can easily suspend a player after the game for the next one and if you think it’s intentionally hitting someone, have it be for multiple games/starts. Its a more severe punishment, gives you the time for calmer heads to prevail and removes the thing about umpires we all fucking hate (they blow calls but its the ego trips they have when called out on bad calls that make us want them all gone) But Manfred hates baseball.

I remember back when my Marlins beat the Yankees in 6 games in the 2003 WS. The baseball Illuminati were so mad it was palpable the whole offseason. It was especially lovely for me because I was in high school and my class (taught by the baseball coach) was having a discussion about the WS and I told everyone it would be Marlins in 6 games. Most others in the class said Yankees in 5 or Yankees in 6, coach said Yankees in 7. 😂

Agreed, even though I'm no fan of the Yankees idc that they won purely because that was some darn good baseball and baseball reading. Also shout out to the editor locking in on the batter's eyes at the end, that was great
I thought the breakdown was great. Just can't figure why he threw that last slider high. It was 1-2 count. Bury it. Or fastball outside or high. There were better options
It's unreal to me that players and coaches don't consistently beat umpires within an inch of their life for constantly ruining the game.

MLB now requires the umpires conference. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.
That was a bullshit ejection tbh and I'm a Yankees fan, actually not only the ejection of the pitcher but most of them.

I agree that these umps were not reasonable in the calls following and allowed the Yankees to throw a near miss without repercussion is bullshit. But I view this as a "We need pitchers to be more aware of their throws ESSPECIALLY in this situation, were here to play a game not kill/maim anyone."
Again it should be a no tolerance rule, simply because of history and potential danger.
