Love seeing him breakdown these hands, especially the ones that he loses. I feel like I learn more from these than the one's he wins. Also hats off to him for admitting that he made a mistake, will learn from it, and then congratulates Bonomo on a hand well played. This is why Daniel Negreanu is one of the most loved poker players on the scene.

That was thoughtful analysis. I thought I was getting into a bad habit by checking the river.
One other advantage that the river check gives you: he either checks your check, and your bluff catcher is good.
Or - he raises-, and you either make a hero bluff or fold.

Hi Daniel, I just watched Kid Poker on Netflix last night for the third time lol. Love it. As I was watching this video I was thinking why not just check call in reference to the Jack on the river, and then you went ahead and said it. I even paused the video and told my wife and when you said the same thing afterwards, she said “great minds think alike” lol. Thanks for caring for us not so famous poker players. I mean that. I used to think that people hated poker players I was embarrassed at one point to said that’s what I do for a living. But watching Kid Poker helped me a lot. I’m proud of what I am and what I do thanks in part to you Sir.

Actually it would get me confuse too with his play because pflop called a raised, flop u bet he raised almost 3x, turn he checked & river raised 4x plus. if im on daniel situation i would think this one for awhile and ask myself "he checked on the turn so he wants me to get my flush just incase im on a flush draw because i called his raise on the flop so he might think im on a flush draw but why raise me again if he thinks i missed my draw unless he put me on AJ or QJ spades but he knew i missed my draw so he knew i cant call any big raise with a pair" Bonomo played that hand really well is just the river raise is still feels like something wrong because i put him on a fullhouse but y r u trying to scare me away with a big raise if u have a fullhouse and u knew im flushing/straightdraw but in cash game i would call it for sure but this one is tournament so different strategy and ik Sir Daniel will play this hand differently on a cash game for sure.

Even tho I do think that this river is a definite check/call spot, (to avoid the position you were put in entirely).
I think even the way that it played out, it's got to be a call right there. Given the situation, a check/raise bluff on that river is going to be standard from him. If he missed the spade draw he would do this, if he missed the straight draw he would do this, just seems like it's boat or nothing. To me, (and i'm admittedly no pro), i'd have to suck it up and call that spot everytime. If i was wrong, i'd just be wrong, but there are waaaaay too many missed draws to fold that.

Hey Daniel! I've been a follower of yours ever since I started poker and have learnt all I know from your videos. I recently got a college project to analyse three famous hands (Tsang v Koon, Koon v Kalas, Ivey v Dwan straight v straight). I have to use holdem manager 2 and explore ranges and expected value but I really don't know the software and how to approach the project. I know this is not the kind of thing you would usually do but if you could take ten minutes to help a fella out with how to analyse the hand and help him get grades you'd be helping out way more than you realize. Hope to hear from you.
    Thank you! Keep crushing.

Daniel, this is fantastic. Even though totally useless for the poker games I play (each week with a bunch of guys for a few hundred bucks). The reason is simple: none of them, including myself,is able to think on this level. The moves that you and Justin make, make only sense if you think about the game this deep. In our games, playing a more standard old fashioned poker works better. Still i love to see these videos-helps me understand how much is going on in your heads when you play on this level.

Watch Jason Somerville's videos on both UA-cam and Twitch. He plays online and faces both weak and strong opponents. If you are brand new to poker, it's OK to watch some videos like this, but you need to see hands that have weak or mediocre players in them as well. It's very different from hands where all the players are extremely strong.

The best hand I've seen in a long time. Tho he said he would check the river if checked to him, I think he would've bet as he's never letting go of that pot after raising the flop. Check call on the river and as played, one needs brass balls and a read sharper than a fox to raise Negreanu in that situation, with King high on that board! Rediculous Bluff, very well played by Bonomo and a rare minor mistake by Negreanu to bet the river, instead of check calling. The bottom line against players like bonomo, you'll always check call the river with marginal hands. it's better to lose a little value than to lose the entire pot! Wonderful hand and video, loads of information ☆☆☆

You even said it yourself mate his bluffs are a huge part of his range so why not 3bet semi bluff flop with a chance to fold to a jam? You say you're too deep to re raise and get it in but you don't mention the massive amount of fold equity you have here which is massively more important imo. You got owned pretty hard here. As played it's an absolutely crystal clear check call river.

Good instructional hand and analysis. Interesting is how much would Negreanu would have had to bet on the river so Bonomo would have folded and not re-raised. Surely another £200k, would’ve done it. However Negreanu isn’t sure of Bonomo’s hand, he could be just running into trouble. Safest play given the situation was the check/call.

I think you just over thought the hand. Simply he called you pre-flop 4 times the BB. it's not likely he has a 7 nor 6,7 in his range. He raised you on the flop but he then checked the turn with a flush draw out there , now he definitely doesn't have a 7. You are giving him too much credit. He called you pre-flop simply because he had high cards, like most players would. Then raised you on the flop because he knew you missed on the flop with 6,2,7 .

Daniel - noticed an AUDIO PROBLEM. The volume on the tournament clips was SO much lower than the volume of your commentary,, with the result that to hear the clips adequately I had to crank the volume so high that when we cut back to you, it was WAY TOO LOUD. So, don't know if you should raise one or lower the other, but probably want to match those levels. Thanks.

Great video daniel! Always learning with you..do you consider a good option to do all in on the flop when having flush draw like your hand?.. Poker legend an vegan you are my idol!!

Sometimes but not with that many chips as I said in the video. He could have me crushed with a higher flush draw

Kudos to you Daniel for showing a hand where you were bluffed out of the pot. Only the truly great would show this.

You would make an excellent teacher Daniel!! I think you were in a very difficult spot in that situation. Nonetheless, good commentary :)

It always amazes me that so many world class geniuses spend their time commenting on youtube videos. Negreanu has spent the last 20+ years making millions playing poker and yet there is post after post along the lines of " what you should have done is...".
Here's the thing. Nobody commenting on poker videos has ever played as high stakes as the likes of Negreanu or Polk so commenting on their videos trying to point out their "obvious errors" is utterly pointless because none of us have ever been (or ever will be) in that situation.

Flop should be a high frequency check planning to checkraise with this combo?

Could you add the flop/board graphics alongside the range board?

Would he have folded on the turn if you led out instead of checked? Your range in that sequence fits any pocket pair nicely. Is it right to say that you don't want the river to come at all?

I feel the analysis gets to deep. Given that we don't know his range (Bonomo's) in the end it looks like he doesn't want to be called. If he had that boat what possible hands would have called him with no flush?

Hi Daniel! Quick question. Have you read Pokers 1% by Ed Miller? It came out a few years ago and introduced me to GTO poker, but in the book Ed calls it frequency based poker. All about ranges and how to approach the game with this way of thinking. I love video's (especially yours!) on the subject, but I also like to read. Would you recommend a certain GTO Poker book? Thanks for your time!

Hey Daniel i love your videos but could you possibly have the volume level of the video clips that you show match the volume level of your analysis. Your videos are great but that would make them a bit better.

it's very easy for us to judge because we see the cards... But knowing myself and the risks I take, I would've probably re-raised all in. specially if he checked as if he was waiting for spades, and then bet as if he got the club flush

Damn I wish you could’ve made that call Daniel.. it just seems more likely that a crafty player like Justin is bluffing rather than having the sets or boats that he’s repping (easy to say when you can see the cards) I know
