Nikki Blonsky seriously deserved an Oscar nomination for her performance in this film. She was absolutely brilliant. She totally matched the director's vision (the entire cast did!) and she had so many impressive musical numbers. Her acting was absolutely spot-on and utterly charming. I totally fell in love with her portrayal of Tracey in this film and I had never seen the musical beforehand.

I agree. No one did a bad job at all, and all of it, the performances, seemed so clean and natural. Everyone seemed to genuinely have a fun time (watching the bloopers and behind the scenes is evidence). Kudos to the casting director. Nothing can compare to the great casting choices.
This is one of the best plays, ever. Love, love this. The world isn't blond skinny people, how boring if that's all you want to see. Don't limit yourself to only one color or one type of music or food, LIVE ! DO IT ALL!!!!!

People painted the screens on their ground floor windows so you couldn't see in. Most people didn't have AC. I lived in Hampden years later. Beech & Hubner, across from Wyman Park. Why, because Hampden was where John Waters made his movie, Pecker, in '98.

As someone who's lived in Baltimore for the past three years, I really don't think much of it. If anything, I'm always surprised by people who move here from elsewhere and tell me they love it so much. I guess the grass is just greener on the other side.

Fun story, my brother and I went to theather to see harry potter, but at the theather they played this instead, and for first 2 minutes I was like wow, this feels different than other movies, and as it went on other people at the theather realized it wasnt the right movie, so they changed it. But after listening to this song i asked my dad to watch hairspray with me and we loved it

Fun story, my brother and I went to theather to see harry potter, but at the theather they played this instead, and for first 2 minutes I was like wow, this feels different than other movies, and as it went on other people at the theather realized it wasnt the right movie, so they changed it.
But after listening to this song i asked my dad to watch hairspray with me and we loved it
