Just ordered my Old Town Sportsman 106 powered by Minn Kota tonight. I took my 12’ Sundolphin out the other day and it was nice, even though nothing was biting. Still pretty cold and the reservoir is drawn down quite a bit for the expected runoff. The level fluctuates as much as 4’ and so much mud is showing.
here is sort of exploring i think you should do - fishing some saltwater and chumming with frozen ground up herring in a mesh bag = feeding frenzy - you could do this maybe get some bigger mackerels or tuna - do james river #brackish
spot lock gps motor and the best fishfinder you can get for less than 1000 - you could claim them as writeoffs possibly - build a small ranch and a big garage/office - try to buy land and build it with no bank help - at least you would have good hvac! #one piece at a time
Thanks for posting this video. I want to start kayak tournaments. I think the part about posting fish pics to the tourney app is my biggest fear of messing up.
Swing for dinks... literally just try to catch a limit, after the first daylight bite is gone, with your confidence baits. Then start working to cull your smallest ones fishing with big baits or whatever. The only pressure you have is your own. Relax and fish and have fun. I see so many people stressing out over a tournament, when really you should just be going to meet new friends and learn. I've placed higher in my "goof off" tournaments than I've ever placed stressing out about it like I used to.
Good info for someone who has a kayak. Well, I read all the comments and when I read the one about the bird's nest I had to go back and scroll through the video again (because I didn't remember seeing the nest the first time). Do you know what species it is? How about giving us updates on any baby birds. You could hold up your gopro on a pole , so it would be like the famous Eagle Nest cam !!!! LOL ! If I was guessing, I'd say this bird comes back every year to build a nest there. I have several that do that at my house. GOD'S creatures....GOD'S plan ! As always, be safe. Randy B.

If you don’t have a $2000 pedal kayak or better tournament suck. A paddle yak can’t keep up. There don’t appear to be any classes so this video is an attempt to coerce paddle kayaks to sign up. They’re basically trying to rip you off!

John, you said you use snaps? Do you ever use any sort of swivel? Like with a spinning lure?

I would do crappie tournaments but now days if you dont have live scope then its going to be tough.

Sage advice. When I am hunting fishing or hiking I bring plenty of water and food. Can't fish at your best if you are shaking from being hungry.
