Great video. That new Arctic Canteen is very rare surplus. Most don’t even know they exist let alone ever getting their hands on one. I’ve been looking for a second one for years with no luck. You can find the pouch but not the cup or canteen.
O yes I did a video. A history video of these, and I show pictures of a prototype to the cold weather canteen where it's welded in the center, and the original case they came in. I think that would be a holy Grail to find one of those. Thanks for watching appreciate it much 🤗💯👍
Hi Scotty, thanks for going through all the trouble of testing out the canteens. Remember, I found one of those Arctic Canteens about a year or so ago. I like the new one and would like to find one. I like that the cup is more normal. The Arctic cup just seems awkward to me. I wonder why the Cold Weather canteen did so well if it's not double walled? Must have something to do with the cover, I'm thinking.🤔
The Arctic was the same it still had liquid, but froze at the tip due to it being a narrow spout vs the cold weather being a wider mouth than Arctic. I think I really need to get it in some below zero temps to really put them to the test thanks for watching Jeff❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️🥶
Both will freeze eventually. The difference is that one is readily thawed. In the climates you’re going to need either of those canteens… you’re also being issued the MCW MRE’s. And without boiling water… you can’t eat. So it’s assumed you always have a method to boil water. And putting the single wall canteen on a burner is easy compared with trying to dump boiling water into the double walled (and repeating multiple times).
You have to understand when you walk the water is always moving so it prevents it from freezing, now if it's freezing, and we are talking -40 then you will place it inside your jacket, and then you will sleep with it in the bottom of your bag.
I don't have one of those, but I will have to get one and try that sometime. I wonder how thick the carrier is for the nalgene. I've never seen one in person only online. Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍😎💯🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
First off cool parka, is it mil surplus. I have 3 N3B's Alpha ind, grey, black. and white, awesome jackets. Too be fair I believe I'd call it a tie. Also water freezes from top to bottom, sticking them in the snow I believe is not an actual real world test, no one out in the elements would stick their canteen in the snow. More likely to be put in the corner of the tent or shelter and not directly in a snowbank. So keeping them on something and off the snow would be more of a real world test via actual air temp. Keeping in the covers is more realistic. A very thin coating of Vaseline on the caps should take of the sicking problem. Just my 2 cents worth.
@@Scannerhead ahh yes it's a M65 jacket with a M1955 Parka fur hood attached to it around the neck. Their are button holes for it. I usually keep my canteen in my sleeping bag. It was just a freeze test, and if you put the canteens on top of snow and like snow around it all the way over and seal it it will take longer to freeze up. Kind of acts as a Insulater. I'm thinking about doing another freeze test eventually though. I yes the N3Bs are nice. I have one along with the trousers that go with it. Good stuff. Hey thanks for watching and commenting appreciate it much🤗👍💯
@@lonnieclemens8028 they don't come with one, but you can glue one on them. I did a video on glueing one on though. They have a conversion kit. It's pretty cool.
@@scottysurvival Okay, I think I would prefer the cold weather canteen over the artic. It has less accessories and less complications. But further testing would need to be done on both canteens. To confirm which is best for duty in artic conditions.
Ahhhh.....noooooo......😫😫😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂😂. Being a wider mouth on the cold weather canteen you won't freeze as fast, but after removing the rubber on Arctic canteen I was able to get water out.😬😬😬🥶🥶🥶🥶. Thanks for watching
Pretty cool video... i have 2 of tge old artic canteens and love them..
Thank you and thanks for watching. I like both of them, but I still like the Arctic the best for some reason.🥶❄️

Absolutely. I really like both of them. The cold weather does have more functionality with you be able to boil in it. Thanks for watching 😎💯🥶

@@SurvivalSavvvy Yep. Maybe I try in some negative temps for 12 hours and see how it does. It was a fun experiment. Thanks for watching as always🤗
How about the USMC. Nalgene bottle in the Outdoor Research black artic carrier vs. those two old school canteens.

Morning bro, good one maybe without the cover's lol
Thanks. Ya I might try them with out their pouches and see then. Thanks for watching 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Does the Artic canteen have the NBC receptacle on the top? I notice that the cold weather canteen has the common NBC receptacle on the lid.

@lonnieclemens8028 I hope we get some more cold temps so I can do like a below zero test. I think that would be fitting. We still have time🥶🥶🥶
interesting, mine would probably freeze very quickly, one is from the 90s and the other from the Second World War
Ya I'm really surprised how well these did. I'm probably going to do another test with them. Thanks for watching 🤗💯👍
Definitely not a clear winner but absolutely a clear loser!
