  • New Years Eve Arrowhead hunt was better than we ever expected. We braved the sub freezing weather for some nice rewards. Gotta Risk it for the Biscuit.

    I found not one, but two tomahawk heads last week. Northwestern Ohio. Perfect condition. Along Auglaise River banks and open plowed fields. Rivers are low. Some places only inches deep. No rain. Also found an antique brick made in 1928 by Federal Clay Products Company.

    We have found that water at 98.6 degrees is the perfect temp for extracting points frozen to the ground... Congrats on another great hunt...!

      SenecaRelics we discovered that too! Problem was keeping a supply readily available, most of these were found in the first hour of the hunt, what a riot

    Wow, me & Tracy came down to check the river and seen you were out. You guys either have sacks that clang when you walk or are batshit crazy with the wind and temps. Either way, glad you're safe and had a good day. The pinetree/Kirk and drill were stellar. Best of luck for 2018, I'm sure we'll see each other along the way :-) Matt. -

    How do you get or do you need permission to look on the river beaches. Madison county Ohio here. Thanks

    • @mudstompers
      @mudstompers  6 років тому

      Just don’t return to the places you get run off from. Most people don’t own the river banks because they have to pay additional property tax to do so, most people think they own it and will run you off but we’ve only encountered that a couple of times

    No digging tools...not even a pocket or sheath knife ?

    • @mudstompers
      @mudstompers  4 роки тому

      Unfortunately no, someone we met out on the river told us on the Indiana side that even a pocket knife could get you in trouble if you use it to remove an artifact. Not sure how accurate that was but we've just tried to make sure we were doing the right thing.

    who goes looking for points without something to dig with? good video though.

    • @mudstompers
      @mudstompers  6 років тому

      don ross digging on a public waterway is illegal, (or at least that’s our interpretation of the statue) which is why we don’t bring em. Thanks for watching!

    • @donross93

      Mud Stompers Oh that makes sense🙂 then Brian pocket knife😉

    • @mudstompers
      @mudstompers  6 років тому +1

      I believe for a point that is exposed on the surface but not all the way out, a small tool can be used to legally remove it. Usually just use our fingers to play it safe though, never know! Wish the state governments would model their policies after the federal government, which exempts surface finds. I understand that digging / mass excavation can be a detriment to sites that should have archeological studies conducted on them, but punishing those who want to surface hunt is not ethical in my opinion. Just recently I was told about a site in Mammoth Cave where the construction workers were supervised as they poured concrete on top of possible artifacts, they were not allowed to remove them first.
