Instead of cutting, you can also keep the shrimp straight by bending it opposite to the way it wants to curve and that will cause it to crack in a few places.
I like to experiment with my cooking, and my 어머니 always flips out when I alter Korean recipes. My favorite kimbap is made with kimchi fried rice (cooked separately) and left over bulgogi/bulkalbi. And, I never slice the rolls, unless I take the kimbap to a party or someone's home. In the end, my 어머니 has also stopped slicing kimbap rolls when she and I make them together. IM MAKING THIS TOMORROW!! This was the easiest explanation vid ive found yet to make kimbap...Also iNever knew the brown stuff was burdock root. That’s probably why my stomach hurts after eating kimbap(allergic 😅). Still yummy, and still gonna eat it. New sub 😊...now excuse me while i prep the kitchen 👩🏽🍳

Or cut some bamboo skewers down and thread the shrimp on them. Leave an inch or so so you can remove the skewer after frying the shrimp.
