Rich I’m not a Ford person but if I was in the market for another pickup truck, I would look for one of those because I trust you. What I have learned through the years each vehicle manufacturer has a lemon. You hit the nail on the head when you said take care of your vehicle. 💯present agree with you on saying or doing something good to another person not for anything in return. Thanking a cashier in the grocery store & telling him or her hope that you have a blessed day today, a lot of times they have to deal with grumpy people.
My 2013 F150 with the 5.0 engine is the same. I bought it with 98,000 miles in February 2021 and now I have 145,000 miles. No issues. Drives great and around 19-20 mpg on the highway.
I just the other day was going to a Cumberland Farms convenience store, and there was a store employee servicing trash cans outside. As I walked by, I said, I appreciate all you do for us. I do this everyday, mostly to quick service people. It only takes a few kind words to make them feel respected.
I'm convinced the 5.0 gives owners the best balance of abilities. Smooth as silk idle. Ready to roar if I want to hit the loud pedal. Its happy to tow my wheeling truck which puts me at 12200lbs GCWR. When not towing I get 21-22 on the highway, best ever was 24.9 on a single day 952 mile interstate run.
I've got the 36 gal tank in my 18 5.0, made it from the twin cities to Kenosha and back on a tank and some change. I was severely impressed. 700+ miles on a tank up and down those hills going through WI.
Agreed 100% brother, I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 161,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla Exhaust as well.😊
It was definitely the most reliable truck I have had. I had a 2017 5.0 super crew 4x4 I bought new. I traded it in in 2021 with 163,000 miles. Followed the Ford Owners Manual service recommendations. Replaced the #8 coil pack at 120,000ish. Only thing I ever done to it. I put brakes on it at 150,000 for the first time and they had 30 percent life or so left. Amazing truck, I have a 2021 3.5 ecoboost now, 47k problem free miles but I miss the 6R80!
If I upgrade later ill look for that model but in the FX4. I built my 04 FX4 with the 5.4 3 valve and upgraded the problem parts and she has been running strong for 5 years now. Ford is the best work truck in my opinion, always has been. Take care of your truck and it will last a long time.
Same here brother, I have a 1996 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 with 210,000 miles on it and still going strong. The only things I replaced on my truck was the starter, the rear fuel pump, and the power steering magnesium but other then that mostly was just simple maintenance, took out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since.
Agree. I use my 2015 5.0 as a daily. Bought with 86k mileage and changed all the fluids. Keeping it clean. Wish I didn’t have the vista roof but otherwise a great truck. Thanks for the video!
My very best truck was a 1997 F150, 3 door, 4X4, 4.6Triton. It was amazing on gas and ran beautiful for the 12 years I owned it and it had 350K with only yearly sparkplug changes (yes regular maintenance and oil changes too, lol). I really hated to see it go.
Same here '97 SC 8" 4.6 2wd. Sold it with 330,000 miles. Ball joints, u-joints, alternator (brushes wore out), cleaned EGR, 8.8" bearings, and basic maint. Though not too bad, I sold because of rust.
I have a 2019 f150 with a 3.5 and a 10 speed and pull a 30 ft gooseneck horse trailer! Absolutely love this truck 👍👏! I've always had f150s and probably always will. Thank you for your great videos and God bless 🙏🇺🇸

I bought a 2015 5.0 SCAB lariat FX4 new in March 2016. I was a litle concerned buying the first year of the new gen. Been a great truck. 64k miles, nearly half towing. I had the rear slider seal leak , just noticed a small leak at the half shalf inner seal. Other than that no issues. Love the growl and power of the 5.0! Could't agree more.

And the Feds keep raising the interest rate! I bought my 2017 XLT in early May and I'm paying dearly for it. I intend to keep it until it rusts in half. Wait... it's ALUMINUM, I'll keep it forever! Seriously, so far it's been the best, most comfortable riding vehicle I've ever owned. Still getting used to parking the SuperCrew in tight spaces but yeah, I love it.
I have a 2017 xl extended cab (don't lol) with the n/a 3.5, 4x4. Friends made fun of me. We go hunting etc. Mine goes where they go. Some even got stuck. I pulled them out! I don't tow, or haul alot of crap. It's never given me an issue! I did replace the factory junk tires with general grabber atx. An put bilstiens on it. (not leveled). An the rear fenderwells from from Ford. (you dont have to drill holes). Like your channel/content. Peace
Yes sir…. I have a 2016 5.0/6 speed since new. OCI’s @5k full syn, fram ultra. Diffs, transmission/transfer case every 60k, plugs every 75k. Wash pcv valve and replace air cleaner as needed. Just did a coolant flush@150k and switched it over to the new yellow poat. I switched from 5w-20 to 5w-30 @100k. I also run seafoam in my oil every 30k or so for maybe 50-75 miles before dropping the oil. There is a notable difference by looking in the fill cap. Truck is current @160k. Not 1 single leak/weep anywhere. Runs fantastic and has maintained its mileage. I have replaced both front wheel bearings and the APIM module…..wheel bearing are expected tho. Rich, I would like to hear your opinion on my switching to 5w-30 @ 100k and running seafoam every 30k or so right before an oil change.
I just picked up a 2017 f150 Lariat 4x4 with 81k miles. And yes it’s the 5.0 6sp transmission because of your opinion but not just any opinion. It’s an opinion of a ford master tech.lol So thank you for your wisdom. I’m coming from a 2001 limited Toyota tundra access cab 4x2. I’m more excited to have my kids in there just soo they can have more space and not with my tools.lol
I wish the entertainment center was bigger. I like the truck. I like the motor and the space inside. Only downside I think is that screen. I prefer the 5.0 motor
Love that color buddy. I’ve found a 2017 xlt with XTR package. 5.0 6.5’ bed 3,73 gears 36 gallon tank and tow mirrors. All the right options. It’s lightening blue. I’m more of a brown or grey darker colors kinda guy but I do like the blue. It looks good. Miles are good too has 82k on it. One owner. I’m thinking about getting out of this 2019 5.0 if at all possible.
@@FordBossMe thanks man. Liberty mutual actually paid me a lot more than I paid for it due to such low miles. Basically made up for all the dealer bs . But it was a 5.0 36 gallon tank 502.a with super low miles. Ended up finding a super low mile stx f250 with the 7.3. I love it a lot but for some reason I really miss my 150 . Wife wanted the 250. Her car got totaled. I have a transit for work so we share the 250 now.
My truck is almost identical to yours except I have the 5.5 ft bed (wish it was the 6.5 but that's my fault for but realizing it when I bought it lol) mine is the XLT with the 5.0 and I love it. I'm glad I bought it way before the crazy truck prices hit cuz I couldn't afford to replace it even if I wanted to. I love my truck though so it's not going anywhere. My oldest son is only 9 but I've already decided it will be his when he's ready. Hopefully I can save up enough before then to afford a new one.
i couldnt agree more ive owned mid 2000s chevy trucks ive owned dodge truck nothing but issues havent got ahold of an f-150 but considering theres nothing bad said about them i have no reason to believe it would be on that list of trucks with issues
I have a 2016 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost.- my current issue is the panoroof is broken. Need to replace the guides/tracks & hope it works. I don't want to replace the entire assembly.
I have a 2013 with the 5.0 Just under 200k. I’ve had to replace the water pump twice but other than that, it’s never had a mechanical problem. There has been one electrical issue though. A couple times the battery has been completely dead in the morning.. I mean “dead”. So low on voltage that it screwed up the transmissions operation. Had to turn off the truck and start it again for the computer to reset. My guess is a relay that sticks open but not completely sure.. Either way the truck has been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned.
Thanks for the video Rich. I haven’t had a truck in many years and recently “acquired the need” for one. I did some research and ended up with a 2017 F150 XL 4x4 with 100,000 miles. It was a fleet truck. I’ve watched a bunch of videos and am very happy to say there is buyers remorse… none what so ever. You and a few others helped with the decision, then just had to find one. With that mileage on the 5.0, what oil would you suggest. I live in western NY. It gets pretty chilly here and I only drive about 5000 miles per year. Also, any additive to the gas or oil? Thanks for all you do…. You’ve helped a lot of us. Happy holidays to you and yours. ✌️
When we move to the states I will see if we can find something like this :) Thank you. Maybe will try get your advice/input, only if that's okay by you and will reimburse you for your time of course.
For those who don’t know, how to set mileage to correct mpg! Hold OK button for 5 seconds, key off, turn key on engine off, till engineering mode comes on, in the dash! Scroll with down up button till you see AFE! A number of 1000 will show, scroll that number down to about 800+or-, over time, a tank of gas or 2, you’ll be getting close to real numbers!
Love your channel bro. other than all those pro’s you mentioned you know what I love about that truck? The color!! It’s just different. My ‘17’s two tone caribou. Anyway I need your help - Love your videos especially that deal with my make/model. Haha but I installed a mishimoto catch can kit on my 2017 and the mount for the cans sit on the ground strap connection stud. The 2 cans are heavy and I guess I’ve over-torqued the factory painted nut when installing because it sheared off. Now I’m not getting consistent ground which has created shorts and I’m throwing about 3 codes due to intermittent ground. What I want to do to fix my current short is remove this ground cable from block, buy a new ground cable and connect new in place of old. Then reconnect it at extra ground location in center left location under hood. Keep in mind I’m not exactly all-for disassembling catch cans because they are rock solid, my ground is what is screwed up. What would you do, Rich? [Mr. Ground Connection Guru haha] Matt
I would probably add a new ground strap or take the studs off of that old ground strap and use a self Tapper clean up the paint on the firewall and self tap everything to the firewall where it broke off at
Being a 6.7L powerstroke owner for many years now (and taking it to A-rod, how I found your channel), when it came time to buy a truck the Mrs. Could also drive, I was eyeing a 15 with the 5.0 and a 6 speed. Ultimately, for economical reasons and who would primarily be driving it we went with a 2018 with the 2.7L EcoBoost and a 10 speed. I kind of wish it had the 6 speed honestly. Do not see much of a difference in the smaller trucks. I’ve taken good care of it, it gets Amsoil like the 6.7 and it does us right. Beautiful truck, man! A+ on the random acts of kindness. Always gotta take care of your fellow humans.
Have you thought about tuning it? I've heard a lot of great things about OZ tuning. My dad just put it on is 2022 5.0 f150 and he said there's is no comparison over stock.
Im looking at a 2017 5.0. It has 99k, and they are asking 25k. My question is, they should do the 100k service before selling it, correct? What all does that involve? Plugs, front and rear diff fluids? Thanks man! I really appreciate your vids. My 22 explorer timberline was just totaled last week, and my stress level is so high trying to decide what to buy in the 25-30k range. Oh yea, a guy ran a stop sign and we hit him doing 50 mph.
I did pick up the 2017. Runs and rides great. I'm a little worried about the intake manifold issues now after reading about it. Will it eventually happen to all 2015-2017s or a certain year more than others? Is there something causing it to help avoid it?
@FordBossMe I appreciate all your great info, man! Do you have a venmo or PayPal I can send a tip? Also, mine has 100k and it looks like the original intake manifold, so maybe I got lucky?
I bought my first Ford 3 months ago, a 2017 F-150 XLT Fx4 SuperCrew with 3.5L EcoBoost. It's a "Texas Edition" (whatever the Hell that is) in magnetic grey. I went into researching the options convinced I wanted the 5 L Coyote but the more I dug, the more I came around to the V-6 EB... for my needs. I test drove a 2018 XLT 4x4 with the same engine after driving the Fx4 and the Fx4 was so much smoother and more comfortable that I had to get it. Plus it had 20k fewer miles. Overall, I LOVE the truck. The only thing I don't like is the 10 speed transmission. It's great on the interstate turning 1500 rpms at 80 mph but around town it's constantly shifting and less responsive. "Sport Mode" helps with that but I think the 6 speed transmission might have been a better option for the way I drive. I'm about to do my first oil change, the oil life monitor says 60% remaining but, all things considered, I'd rather change it now than rely on the dealership that they really did change it, with quality oil and filters, instead of just resetting the counter.
I’ve got the exact same truck it’s been a really good but I’ve got an issue with the rear door on the drivers side. Sometimes i can’t get it to unlock so I have to around the truck and let the kids out the other side. Any idea what it could be cheers buddy 🍻
Look in my library I have videos on this very situation so anytime you have a problem with these trucks look in the library on the channel it typically is the wires that go through the rubber sleeve when you get the back door open if you look in the channel where it pivots there's a rubber sleeve and inside that sleeve there's typically wires that are broken or grounded out
#fordbossme You know anything about loud brake squeal on the 2020 to 2022 Escapes? When my Escape is parked overnight and I go to back up the brakes sound like they have a rust grinding or squeal

What’s an spin module?
I just picked up a 2017 f150 Lariat 4x4 with 81k miles. And yes it’s the 5.0 6sp transmission because of your opinion but not just any opinion. It’s an opinion of a ford master tech.lol So thank you for your wisdom. I’m coming from a 2001 limited Toyota tundra access cab 4x2. I’m more excited to have my kids in there just soo they can have more space and not with my tools.lol
I wish the entertainment center was bigger. I like the truck. I like the motor and the space inside. Only downside I think is that screen. I prefer the 5.0 motor
great video
Earned a sub with your closing statement brother
Love that color buddy. I’ve found a 2017 xlt with XTR package. 5.0 6.5’ bed 3,73 gears 36 gallon tank and tow mirrors. All the right options. It’s lightening blue. I’m more of a brown or grey darker colors kinda guy but I do like the blue. It looks good. Miles are good too has 82k on it. One owner. I’m thinking about getting out of this 2019 5.0 if at all possible.
Lost my 16 f150 xlt 4x4 in hurricane Ian. Only had it 7 months . Bought at 32k had 36k when totaled. I loved it.
Omg so sorry, did they help you get a new one?
@@FordBossMe thanks man. Liberty mutual actually paid me a lot more than I paid for it due to such low miles. Basically made up for all the dealer bs . But it was a 5.0 36 gallon tank 502.a with super low miles. Ended up finding a super low mile stx f250 with the 7.3. I love it a lot but for some reason I really miss my 150 . Wife wanted the 250. Her car got totaled. I have a transit for work so we share the 250 now.
I concur, I got one too. 😊. 5.0 is just a solid engine.
Agreed brother gotta love the 5.0L Coyote V8
Only problem I've had with my 2016 loaded f150 XLT 35,000 miles is the rear emergency brakes freezing up.
2011-2016 f250 gassers are great trucks as well.
You look good this morning Rich
Thank you kindly
Agree best truck ever. 5.0 great.
Awesomeness! I love your truck. I feel the same way about my 2015 Kuga.
I believe that can be said for any vehicle preventive maintenance will prevent most major issues Chevy ford dodge Toyota Nissan whichever 😎👍
Sweet truck Rich!
That's a really nice truck! :)
i couldnt agree more ive owned mid 2000s chevy trucks ive owned dodge truck nothing but issues havent got ahold of an f-150 but considering theres nothing bad said about them i have no reason to believe it would be on that list of trucks with issues
I miss my 2016, it had the 2.7. I want another one. But I want the 5.0
Beautiful truck, I bought a 2013 f150 5.0 and love it. I really wish I got a 15-17 because of aluminum body. I really love the look of that truck.
Right on
I have a 2016 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost.- my current issue is the panoroof is broken. Need to replace the guides/tracks & hope it works. I don't want to replace the entire assembly.
God bless you brother
My truck 15 yote 3.73 gear magnetic bone stock .. 160k 2nd owner love love it ... Supercab.. xlt 301a plain jane.. for sale is a matter of fact...
Either way the truck has been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned.
its gonna be my next truck, prefer the 6 speed over 10.
Amen Brother
Thank you !Rick😊
When we move to the states I will see if we can find something like this :) Thank you. Maybe will try get your advice/input, only if that's okay by you and will reimburse you for your time of course.
The 5.0 doesn't have the cam phaser setup does it?
It does but doesn't have the issues the 17 - 20 3.5 Ecoboost does
How much did you buy the truck for?
Thanks Rich.
You bet!
Still nice truck? 💪
Upcoming video
Huh? Please explain.
Love Ford trucks!
What year 3.5 ecoboost truck would you recommend? Looking at used trucks
good video and good advice, thanks
[Mr. Ground Connection Guru haha]
Matt
I like the 2.7l cgi block like the 6.7l
@@FordBossMe it’s actually a great engine, i’ve been driving it the past week while my truck is in the body shop.
It’s a well oiled machine, why do you think the 10 speed has a rough shift with 3-4 gears at times ?
It's 3-4 and up plus cdf drum has a faulty bushing they are aware of
Have you thought about tuning it? I've heard a lot of great things about OZ tuning. My dad just put it on is 2022 5.0 f150 and he said there's is no comparison over stock.
Yeah I did think about it honestly
Oil question, on the 4.6 they say use 5-20, most all other engines they say 5-30, what is your feeling on that?
You can actually run either one but just make sure you're flushing the engine out at least once a year with some bg epr
I got a 17 2.7 120k only problem is my ac leaking I got fix Other than that general maintenance
Sure, but I’ve been looking for a 15-17 5.0 but everyone I’ve come across has a million miles and/or has been beat to all hell.
you have my truck, its an xl sport 4x4 and even magnetic gray
Hey, are those temp gauge suppose to be more towards the cold? Your gauges never went to the middle...
It sits in the middle you probably just see the video with it being partially cold still
What type of max payload capacity
Im looking at a 2017 5.0. It has 99k, and they are asking 25k. My question is, they should do the 100k service before selling it, correct? What all does that involve? Plugs, front and rear diff fluids? Thanks man! I really appreciate your vids. My 22 explorer timberline was just totaled last week, and my stress level is so high trying to decide what to buy in the 25-30k range. Oh yea, a guy ran a stop sign and we hit him doing 50 mph.
Well I'm glad you guys are okay, a truck with 99,000 miles I would probably only pay about 17 to 18,000 for
I did pick up the 2017. Runs and rides great. I'm a little worried about the intake manifold issues now after reading about it. Will it eventually happen to all 2015-2017s or a certain year more than others? Is there something causing it to help avoid it?
No certain time and some never have issues
Yeah the 3.5 L EcoBoost cam phaser problems
Any interior rattles? Do you have any common fixes for typical interior rattles?
None
Find the source of the rattle and eliminate it......
Is it common for these to have oil leaks? My 17 5.0 oil pan started leaking, or I think its the oil pan .1st problem Ive had. 80k
No metal pan ones
Does anyone know if any of these trucks (F-150’s) any year have hit the million mile club?
I know a tree cutter here in Illinois has a 3.7na f150 600k miles and a 5.0 with 475k and only runs diesel 15w40 in them
What type of fuel does this truck takes and are ford f150 good trucks to buy
2011 to 2017s were really good trucks 2015 to 2017 were the best and it takes 87 octane
Rich is your coolant temp working or just not heated up yet?
Not heated up yet
When did the Oil Consumption issue start with the 5.0?
2018 when the went to plasma lined cylinders instead of cast iron sleeves
How often do you get oil change for this truck 😮
How about every 4,000 miles maybe 5,000 or 6 months
I’ve got the exact same truck it’s been a really good but I’ve got an issue with the rear door on the drivers side. Sometimes i can’t get it to unlock so I have to around the truck and let the kids out the other side. Any idea what it could be cheers buddy 🍻
Look in my library I have videos on this very situation so anytime you have a problem with these trucks look in the library on the channel it typically is the wires that go through the rubber sleeve when you get the back door open if you look in the channel where it pivots there's a rubber sleeve and inside that sleeve there's typically wires that are broken or grounded out
@@FordBossMe awesome thanks! 👍
#fordbossme You know anything about loud brake squeal on the 2020 to 2022 Escapes? When my Escape is parked overnight and I go to back up the brakes sound like they have a rust grinding or squeal
Yes there is a tsb on it
