Thanks Adam and Corinne. Great overview, where I agree with much of it. BUT, we were there for 5 weeks and never got ill - and I have a weak stomach. How? (1) We took Travelan tablet before each meal (except breakfast). It coats the gut and stops bad bugs binding. It was made here in Australia, not sure if it is available around the world. And (2) we took the oral cholera vaccine before leaving (shown to also be immuno-protective against Delhi belly). This two-pronged approach worked spectacularly and I ate anything I wanted. (I also don't think we got scammed at all!)

I'm really glad to hear that you had a great time in India overall. I really like the honest opinions you have given about the good and the bad. It is unfortunate to see or experience any scams on any trip, but I feel it is always important to not let the negatives ruin a trip as you can miss out on all the great things a destination like India has to offer. I could tell from all your India vlogs that you were having an amazing trip with a lot of great sights, food, and people! I definitely would love to India someday as it looks incredible! it's not true those who travel to india will get sick . lot of people have been fine . if you are to eat street food In India, eat food that is made in front of you and is piping hot . have activated charcoal with you . if indian food does not suit you then you can eat western food in india as it's available in lot of the restaurants in the cities .
if you avoid delhi chances are you won't get scammed . 90% scams happen in delhi which is less than 0.03 percent of india .
some of beggars you see earns a lot (30k-40k INR in a month), more than lot of govt employees . few beggers in big cities make rs 300k/month . you can see them getting ready for the job .
india is 5th richest country in the world . it has lifted about 350 mil people out of poverty in last 15 years . when india got independence it it was super poor . about 50 trillion USD(in today's money) were looted by british in 190 years . india literally had to rise from the ashes . country also had 5 wars since independence . no other country has gone through so much brutality in history of mankind .
last year india had 18 million foreign tourists, this year it's expected to be more . each year tourism growing at a rapid rate . india has jumped 31 places in world tourism index in last 5 years .
there are lot of places in india which are not busy, not small pockets . himalayas is the biggest mountain range on earth. in fact you went to rishikesh, that's one of the busiest places in himalaya .

You are so right when you say things happen anywhere you go. I've had the same experiences in places I've been. I also agree with not giving money to kids. A lot of people do - because it helps the out, and they feel bad - but it also supports the idea that this is ok. If people continue to give things in these situations, parents are going to continue to exploit their children - which isn't right in my opinion. I know people are desperate and people are willing to do almost anything in those scenarios.

As Indian, thanks for the honest opinions. I am sure India will become better place in coming years. For Delhi belly, as Delhi native myself we don’t eat street foods. For street foods, there are some food chains like bikanervala or Haldirams present in almost all over Delhi. You can use Zomato and swiggy to check good food places around you with ratings and prices. about water, everyone should use bottled water outside homes. For rides inside city, use Uber or ola to skip taxi scams. And in last India is not a developed country but there are areas which are like modern. You should come to experience the ancient culture and architecture. Buddha enlightened here. You can experience yoga and meditation. Goa could be a chilling place and for relaxation.

Harald.. you are really a nice person but some Indians, due to poverty, cheat foreigners.I feel really bad when my guest is cheated. The best way to enjoy a trip in india is
1.you need to learn hindi language or else many people will cheat you, especially people who do businesses on street which is illegal but the street food is nice.
2.there are all types of places in india..some places are much better than tourist places. You might find them in Mumbai city.
3.Harald if any of your friends come to India.. you do not need a guide.. instead you need a college student who will explore India with you..I can do it as well without taking any money
4.Indian police n aged people follow strict laws such as .. you can't do Parkour on the streets.. you can't swim in risky places other than that you can do anything sensible.
5.The people over here cheat because it's not affordable for the common people to start a business in india n therefore they come on streets to sell products.. there are government vans who come once in a week to confiscate their stuff.
6.The most important and last thing is that we need to explore those places which are rare and will be missed rather than slums.. This message was for Harald a youtuber and I am forwarding to all foreigners... I'm just tired of forwarding this to foreigners but I want them to be on the safer side

Most of the things you said are true. I guess there are some bad people everywhere. The hospitality of India as you said is unparalleled. Each state in India is like a different country wrt food , culture, clothing, language, architecture etc. a lifetime would be less to explore India properly.

People a begger who died in the streets of Chennai/India was found having an worth of Rs. 1 Crore which is equal to 1,04,925 pound. Because this is the easiest way to make money here. There are beggers in India like the way people beg for food out of hunger in other developed countries. You can call them beggers. Unlike other beggers who would want only your money they are not beggers but they are scammers as you said. If you want to escape do not respond to them. They are the biggest actors better than Charlie Chaplin/James Bond/ Merlin Mandroe/Elizabeth Taylor. If you think you want to help them offer some food they will run away from you. They get ready everyday nearby with their dirty costumes and there is a make up personal for the daily routine. All these fun happens everyday and I have seen them personally. This includes children who are also well trained.

Well guys, I'm happy to finally see a wrap up video. How long were you actually in India? As I commented on a previous video, India is not my cup of tea. Will never be a destination for me. And your first several reasons (truths) are why. Food sickness, thieves and wild animals/snakes roaming the streets. And you wonder why you don't see many westerners there? Very dirty and germ ridden food prep and living conditions, etc. Sorry to be harsh guys, but it's one of the Truths. Many people know this. Only thing worse is China with flu and virus around every corner. Hope you don't travel there anytime soon. Speaking of traveling, where are you headed next? Looking forward to the "experiment".... but please be safe out there.

I was on 21 day tour, never saw a snake on the street. A lot ,a lot of westerners. The food is great in the hotel restaurants, none of 34 members of my group got sick. The hotels were great, clean and much better than in Italy or France /Spacious/ . I loved every hour spent in India. And I'll be back there. The monuments are outstanding.

You are entitled for your opinion. But just wanted to highlight that what you described is rare and not the norm. Its easy to avoid it. Even indians dont travel on their own, most people will do pre-planning or travel with agency in a group. Tourism isnt very mature industry and there are too many variations.

      @silverlicious.
Firstly nobody is inviting or forcing you for a free stay in India. You don't wish to visit that's ur wish.
But I want to enlighten u on certain things u said about reasons of not traveling here
I have been staying in India since birth, I have not seen a single snake roaming on streets randomly. If u visit a national park that's where u can find them.
Talking about scams I have been to USA,Uk and many parts of Europe, I have been scammed der aswell . good and bad people are found everywhere.
Thirdly talking about food, even we the local people think twice before eating street food. It all depends where u eat how much u spend. U get cheapest food aswell as 5 star restaurant food.
I just want to say that whatever experience they had u can totally have different experience, one has to be open minded, just don't get influenced by media or UA-camrs or stereotypes. One has to experience it yourself before passing judgements.

russians dont talk about these things racism, human right, but they are too ahead in these things for helping others country personally than west
