Name of the river is The Ganga
I am from Haridwar India. Can you share any American people or Organisation that work in Haridwar or Rishikesh.
We were in Rishikesh in the hot season and it was crowded just like many other places in India at that time. Lot's of local tourists because of some religious holidays and as it was very hot outside (over 40 celcius) the beaches were full of both locals and tourists having a dip in mother Ganga. We escaped further into the mountains to small little villages where you truly didn't see many people. We really recommend travelling in Himachal Pradesh if you go back to India in the spring 😀

I haven't heard of Rishikesh before, but the city looks beautiful! I really like how pristine the Ganges looks in the city. I could probably watch the river with the mountains all day and feel at peace! The food looked really tasty!
It's a place where american band Beatles came for peace.
Rishikesh is the Yoga capital of the world. Beatles came to Rishikesh to meet the famous Yogi and Saint in his ashram.
It was even more beautiful in the flesh!!! So peaceful!!😲
Its also quite cheap to stay and travel
Only transportation to there may cost ....but after that you can enjoy under 900$. For 15-16 days i visted there and had great fun. Even after i visted a place called "vrindavan" i really loved that place its lovely

Thats a pristine beach, I really like that they have so many cows walking around chilling out. I think one of the things I look forward to when we eventually visit india is having a lot of Lassi's. I am a yogurt fiend. Must be nice to have it freezing cold on a warm day. The buildings in Rishikesh also look very interesting.

You should also try the following in India:
1. Dahi samosa (Curd + samosa+ chutney + spices)
2. Masala Dosa ( South Indian tiffen, an hit among all foreigners) 🙂

Such a nice change when you can get to that part of India! I bet the fresh air of the area made for a nice change! The water is such a stunning color and you can see your excitement around this place.

Wow Beattles visited the city?! The jade water in the river looks so beautiful ❤❤ it doesn't seem like India so surprised. Dry land too, well noted. Chilled with coffee then haha
Not only did they visit, but also stayed there for some months and wrote many of their songs during the time.

According to you what India should look like? I suggest you brush up your knowledge before making a crass comment! India is a big country and it has its minuses and pluses. Fyi, India does not confine itself to a few big cities but we have thousands of small cities and towns which are culturally vibrant. If you are ignorant about it try to update yourself.

Yes beautiful beach. I slept there every night in a cave for a few years. In Summer though the beach dissapears ( Monsoon )

Yes, it was definitely Heaven for veggies😋😋 The massage worked out at around 12 British pounds👍 You could get them a lot cheaper but the reviews for this place were amazing!!! Definitely our best massage of the trip :) :)

In english we do say it as ganges, because we cannot say it simply a river as it is sacred. Ganga is a hindi word

The Ganges start high up in the Himalayas from the Gangotri glacier at about around 6000 metres or above 20,000 feet altitude...Rishikesh is just the foothills of the Greater Himalayas...

I was on Ganges River in Varanasi. Did not have a courage to bless myself. I had in mind ashes of thousands just floating in the river.

Go and visit rishikesh i have visit almost all part of india...but rishikesh is love❤️...i will wish to permanent settle over there...go in the night sit beside the holy ganga...all around mountain..water flowing sound..so clean air which will open ur mind...and have meditation...or just sit quite and have lord shiva music...beleive me even a crore lottery can not gave u that relief...a permanent inner relief...money is material happiness but your spirtual happines is beyond beyond that.
You will witness a millionaire to be sad or depressed or may be a common man...but a man deeply engaged in spritual never witness tht..they will happy even in harsh condition...i will recommend just go and witness ones...and if u are a stoner thn believe me you will be in paradise feeling.
You can go to the ashram where american band Beatles came to rishikesh for peace. You can also watch snowfall in kullu and manali not much far from rishikesh through bus.
That was an English band, not American. And they can watch snowfall in Dhanaulti which is in Uttarakhand itself and jut 70 Km from Rishikesh, rather than going to farther place like Manali which is in a different state altogether and more than 500 Km from there. Morever, Dhanaulti is much more peaceful than Manali which has been commercialized a lot now and is very much crowdy.

No, Ganga does not start form where you were standing. it further up in "Gangotri" some 270km away, up in Himalays, also it is not even clean in Rihikesh

@@JamesyboyExperiment Mm. I got into the habit of having one small beer late at night just before bed, but I started putting weight on. It's harder to find out calories in boozey drink as you have to go online, but the non-alcoholic ones seem to have different rules, so the calories are printed on the labels.

Well You can have Buffalo/Bull Meat in North east (India exports meat of Buffalo and Bulls for which its i think worlds 2nd largest Beef exporter After Brazil)
In addition,as per the hindu mythology ganga is said to be the purest forms of living on earth no matter what amount of dirt can go in like the holy ashes the flowers etc etc the ganges river self purifying quality leads to oxygen levels 25 times more than any other river on the planet.....thats damnnn crazy isnt it !?

Just so you know, the colour of the river in Varanasi is not because of pollution but because of a certain mineral mine it passes on the way, further down from prayagraj. Add to that, the river whilst passing through the plains cuts through the alluvial belt, which is clayish in colour.This mixed with ore gives India's gangetic plains its most fertile region in the world.Hence, the ore mixed with the alluvial soil gives Ganga that colour.The India government has announced, and I believe a billion dollar clean up project with the assistance of multiple environmental organisation. Hopefully, the next time you visit you will start seeing the difference. Its taken so long because of the size and enormity of the river.P.S. I am not saying that pollution of the river is not a problem. Next time you visit, the scenario might be different.
