It's here! Finally here! I have waited such a long long time to finally hear again that mix of Good Girls Go To Heaven. :D It fell out of my reach when the Phantom of Paradise compilation got taken down 2 years ago or so, could not find it again but now my wish finally came through! Well worth the wait. :D Thanks a million times MLBF! :)
The picture was used for a book cover in 1984, "Red Dreams" by Dennis Etchison. The Pandora's Box art was a picture called "Wet Dreams" from 1987. You can see that in the J.K. Potter book "Horripilations". Highly recommended if you've enjoyed seeing his art.
thank you for this my friend, I can’t get enough of this album and gold like this is well appreciated. All the way to that removed little piano lick at the end of original sin 😊
I'm sure the piano here is Roy Bittan, very similar to Jim's style but a bit "cleaner". Jim's playing has quite a harsh dynamic whilst Roy's is calmer but just as impactful. The ending of Good Girls Go To Heaven here is a great example. In my opinion Roy is the best in the business and fits Jim's songs perfectly.
Sadly not, only small clips and 2 demos have been released regarding the Dream Engine's debut album, which is a shame as it was reportedly nearly finished and mixed by mid 2006.
Thanks a lot! This version of Kiss is so great, almost a completely different song from the original. It's a pity the Rory Dodd demo is such a bad quality. Whose voice is it on "You can lose yourself in pleasure..." in "Orginal Sin"?
I know Meatloaf always said the Steinman liked the "hush" as in the start of the vocal in "Anythin for love", but I could never understand why they did the same approach for some of the tracks on "Welcome to the Neighbourhood" album, for me those sections didn't really work. For examples of my point I'd refer to "I'd lie for you " and "Not a dry eye ". Nothing to do with this post, but just a random thought lol x
@@madhatterster Tied up in which musical? I'd always thought that, along with "It Hurts Only When I Feel / If It Ain't Broke," that "What Part of My Body Hurts the Most" was one of the songs Steinman had pitched to him sometime in the early-to-mid-2000's, when they were still planning on doing "Bat III" together (and that Meat had hated ever since, on account of the high notes he could no longer hit). I think one of the other songs was that "ultimate car-crash song" he was gonna write for Meat that he referred to a couple of times (an actual "Renegade Angel" song?) and another at one point called, "One Night on a Motorcycle: A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste" (both title and subtitle utilized for two separate "Whistle Down the Wind" tracks). I know that "Bat: The Musical" / "Bat 2100" had always been a concept since "The Dream Engine" / "Neverland," having been shaped from them, along with the songs of "Bat" and "Bat II" (and the official "Bat III" that *was* later released) - but I didn't think it had been concretely realized until *after* "Braver Than We Are." If it was actually in the process of being produced and released for a while BEFORE "Braver than We Are," though, please DO tell, as, having lost touch with the Meat / Steinman world for about 15-or-so years before they both passed, I'd love to hear anything more about official story of what was going on! Thanks. 🙂👍
I love Jim’s version of these mixes 😍

Thank you very much again for this gem; greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
You're very welcome, hello from Scotland!
A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste was a terrible thing to waste. I guess there really is no higher quality version. Thanks for the upload!
Are you the same person who I sent the original file to and done a restoration in the Steinman discord lol?

Also have a google of Dennis Etchison's "Talking in the Dark". See any more images that seem familiar?

I just love this album!
I like the lyric tweak from 'my life' to 'real life' in good girls demo/final
@MLBF - the gift that keeps giving - thank you so much for these treasures
Brilliant, thank you
Oh my stars, is there a full version of this versiom of Safe Sex, it's gorgeous.
Sadly not, only small clips and 2 demos have been released regarding the Dream Engine's debut album, which is a shame as it was reportedly nearly finished and mixed by mid 2006.
Thank you for this gift! Is there a full version of Safe Sex by Dream Engine somewhere? My life would be so much more complete with it.
I've never been able to find it
Their album remains unreleased but I imagine the session masters will be sat gathering dust somewhere

I'm not sure, the lead vocals are a blend of Ellen Foley, Elaine Caswell, Holly Sherwood and Laura Theodore in that song
That line/verse in particular sounds most like Ellen Foley to me.

I agree
It's why I prefer live versions of I'd Lie For You because Meat Loaf sings the choruses with more of a growl - particularly 99-03 versions!
@@MLBFCollection yeah, because I think trying to get that higher register from gig to gig wouldn't have been great.
Hence why Meat never wanted to sing, "What Part of My Body Hurts the Most"... 😉👍
@@larkefedifero He did want to sing it? He just couldn't get to it because the rights were tied up in the musical.
