The picture is how I remember them when we first met, at Winstanley College back in 1989 when they were known as The Rain Garden. The long hair came quickly afterwards. Theres also a demo that they recorded at Winstanley College, you should put that up too. We drank in the same pubs and rehearsed in the same studios for many years.
Yes sir there music changed the course of history of my life, McCabe's 🎸 solo in "Already There" was the my moment of conception in music, thank you for all these live set's, please continue to post 🙏 All my best-Anthony
I would LOVE an honest, objective debate/conversation with people who grew up with music in the 2000s and 2010s and (work out that we are right) compare music with music. To me music is ultimately about can you remember the tune when the song stops? that stopped in the 90s, for me. Tell me I'm wrong! (I'm not, am I?)
Richard really found his voice over the next couple of years. Hearing this is like glimpsing inside the pupa of a butterfly. They had that hypnotic sound. Shamanistic, sensually building to a more than memorable climax Time and time again. Considerate lovers of sound . Born to move feet and change lives.
"the sun, the sea" was already a killer song by the first time it was recorded, wow. i hear wayyy more of the t.rex influence in this version than the one that ended up on the album
Was in the same form as Richard in Winstanley, By that point he looked like a full blown rock star and never seemed to drop that character since.😎 Pretty obvious he was just killing some time and not really focused on his A levels one bit. Was a nice bloke and quite down to earth as i remember.
😍✌🙌 Whoa thanks, what a treat. For years I have been fascinated with this early version of The Sun, The Sea. I wonder why the song turned out so different on A Storm in Heaven.
It was on a Ashcroft fan page under Rare bootlegs and recordings. I have the 1991 Session coming out on the 26th. They've been around for a while, but they've only ever been posted as individual songs. I figured a lot of people probably never searched for these songs as they've never heard of them.
McCabe already genius level even at this point. Mad.

I think This was recorded by Paul ONeill at Splash studios at Pepper Mill Wigan. It’s a Lidl now. Theyre about 17 , Nicky may be a year older.
You should tell the stories mate. Bet they'd be a song.. a Sonnet maybe ;)
Люблю британский рок👍 привет вам ребята из России
@@fantomaeronautics1148did you used to practice at Pepper Mill? We were in Room 16. Verve were in the room opposite.

What a band - even this raw edge sound has got legs on it going up into the stratus fear of fame, genius and longevity!
That Si Jones bass groove, on "It's in your eyes" Something amazing 🥺🤩
I love coming across new Rare recordings of these ridiculously talented Lads! Thank you so much for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@floytronmusic8680 Around this time there was a bloke called Dominic managing them wasnt there? Who was he - someone from Winstanley college?
Look at this photo! Wow! They are 15 years old??? Lol!! One of the greatest bands of the 90's!! ❤️
1990- Richard Ashcroft is a year younger than me, would have made him 19
@@CC-vw1nd summer pf 1990 second year of winstanley college i was there at the same time ...they would have been 17 or 18

Its 2023, are there any bands out there that sound remotely like Verve at the height of their creative powers?!?!?
Unique band for sure. One of my favorites
DMAs kind of like their later stuff. But as far as their psycadelic shit idek
Pastel tap into the SIH sound.

Back in 1998ish I was in Warrington. A guy with a bit of a speech impediment claimed to be a former drummer of the band. BTW he was a great guy.
