Aww man! Just bought the Wiim on the $80 sale! I am liking it. Favorite feature is the easy setup and use with NAS/DLNA. So nice to have the ability to play my stuff without having an entire collection on my phone or tablet. I do wish there was a feature for grabbing artwork. Looks like the only ones that show up are files with art attached.
Giveet Bluetooth 5.2 Transmitter Receiver for TV to Wireless Headphones/Speakers, APTX Adaptive/HD/Low Latency Wireless 3.5mm AUX Audio Adapter, £23. I also have a higoing brand where I stream from my mobile through a HD drive plugged into it with 800 flac albums on it. Sounds great.
Excellent as usual. Here is a tip for your Wiim. Rather than a heavy weight, I use a long strip of double sided velcro tape 10mm wide. This you can wrap right over the top of it and underneath whatever your Wiim is sitting on. Stays put and should not fall off if you pull it tight enough. Available as garden ties from various retailers.
When I saw the thumbnail for this video I gasped because I just ordered a second Wiim mini and I was afraid this was going to give me buyers remorse, but seems like I'll be sticking to the Wiim mini until I can afford a Bluesound Powernode Edge. Thanks for all you do man!

Nice return to sith audio! Doesn't matter the quality of the product. It's all in the advertisement. Goes for anything these days. That why people like you are so important.
This one is a hard pass for me. The Wiim mini is the cheapest streamer to beat at it's price. I think the user experience and the ease of use is the most important thing in a streamer.
I was sceptical that the WiiM Mini could be any good at such a cheap price. Mind blown at quality of the music when listening to master recordings on Tidal. One word to sum up the WiiM “brilliant “. Thanks for the recommendation.😊
Snatched up the Wiim for $79 earlier this week. II just hooked up the Wiim yesterday... Figures! Love the channel Randy, Sith Audio is counting on you!! 🍻
Thanks for a great review. Nice to see a company making a run at a lower cost product. WiiM has a solid foundation and looks like they keep listen to customer feed back. I'm interested to see if this company will evolve there product with software updates.

How do I use a >streamer< to play music at the work regardless if I'm on the phone or in my car. Can a streamer be a stand alone source of content or do I need to buy a burner phone and leave it at work...?
Wiim pro is coming, with proposed msrp of $150. It's going to be a clear winner above this and the original wiim mini. It's close enough to just hold off and wait. Wiim pro brings increases from original mini's dual core to quad core cpu, jumps from 128mb ram to 512mb. Adds 12v trigger out, rca in, rca out, ethernet/LAN, coax out, separate spdif in +out, headphone out, remote control. Plus some new streaming platform compatability such as chromecast audio. It looks like a top shelf component and worth the extra $60. Visually, it's square and looks very similar to topping a50/d50 in size and rounded corner profile, but of course in plastic case.
A first generation product. Need to watch and see if these guys are as committed to continuing upgrades as Wiim. If not product will die, if so then a revisit in 6 months may be deserved. Wiim is great product and hard act to follow but some competition can't be a bad thing
Wiim Minis' dedication to software improvements, is the reason I have purchased 2 more. For the money, they continue to set the bar for low cost streaming, IMO.
Did I miss how it sounds? I don't think you mentioned how the internal dac sounds or connected to an outboard DAC. How does it sound compared to the WIIM? I returned the WIIM after I heard a Chromecast version was coming out.
I did notice that this product has an optional remote control which undecided how handy that would be if you can control it with your phone?? I'm sure more and more companies are going to be trying to make a copy of the WiiM with its popularity now. Thanks for bringing us these.
Are any of these budget streamers Roon Ready? I'm using a Raspberry Pi with an external DAC on my HiFi but would love to have a simpler (and with the price of RPis these day - if you can find them) for other parts of the house.
I am looking at the WIIM streamer, but I think I am going to wait until there is an Ethernet port on a possible upgraded model offering. Hard wired connections are more reliable.
I'm sure they're using the same framework. Wiim seems more mature and established. I had a few hiccups with my Wiim but it was mostly on my end and has to tweak my WiFi router settings.
Not only are the frameworks for many of these apps, and their general platform the same, they often work with each others hardware. Wiim and Arylic are the best two (hardware and app) performers currently. Right now I'm listening to my Arylic s10 into a Rotel 2-ch amp, being controlled by the wiim app. Arylic uses 4stream app. They are both great. If your streamer location will allow connection to ethernet, than the arylic s10 is the choice. If wifi only, than the wiim is great. If you can wait until unknown date in November, the wiim pro will be released adding ethernet, more processing power, and additional connection options. It will be the overall winner.
is there a mini streamer that has a digital coax output? My Amp can only accept up to 24bit 96khz input via Toslink but can accept 24 bit 192khz via digital coax.
Nexum TuneBox 2 has a digital coaxial output and a mini-optical/analog output (like the old Chromecast audio). It’s set-up is similar to the WiiM (but fussier in my experience) You can find on eBay , but it’s a crapshoot.i have four, three i still use, one I gave up on trying to get it connected reliably. You can get a signal converter, optical to coaxial - those are cheap and would do the trick.
Randy, does the IEast function as a Roon endpoint? So far the only thing that is remotely attractive about this product is that it has an Ethernet port. Thanks.
it will via airplay. but not bit perfectly. a lot of products claim Roon compatible but it's just using airplay. great cheap Roon endpoint is the rasb pi running ropiee. if you're not into that the Ifi zen stream has a Roon function. it's expensive for what you get though
Randy, have you had an opportunity to give the Arylic S10 a review? I am intrigued … but I am curious if the WiiM is really wheee I should be looking. :)
I dont think that's a fair comparison. This and wiim are standalone plug and play. Allo digione requires you to configure a raspberri pi and possibly incorporate additional devices and cards. Cumulatively it's much more money. I like Raspberry pi steamers a lot but that is a different market. My favorite raspberry pi setup is actually just the $15 pi zero W w/ usb output straight into a DAC. No need for any add on cards or more expense if you already have a DAC.
Hands down hardest I've laughed in a long, long time. Unfortunately I already ordered a CS1 that I cannot seem to receive in the Mail cuz no-one is too sure when it will be ready to be available to be had. "sometime in March" could mean latter 2023 I suppose.

What about something like a roku express. It's got airplay 2, spotify etc. Much cheaper. Only downside is hdmi out which can be converted if your audio player doesn't support hdmi.
Hi Randy, I really enjoy watching your videos. There are two things that I think would be great if you'd add them to your reviews. First, it would be nice to know if the reviewed Bookshelf Speakers could be used in a nearfield environment and second why not rank all the reviewed DACS and Speakers in your Tier List? Wish you all the best from Germany. Take care! :)
Ranking into tiers is a more honest and objective method. Within tiers, similar products will have small tradeoffs good and bad in comparison with others. Different people prioritize features differently. I'm not trying to argue with you, just sharing why some people like myself prefer a tiered evaluation. If Randy says product A is better than B because of 1 feature that's important to him, then I go by product A, when the feature I want is actually better in product B. For me personally, a tier gets the viewer into a ballpark, and lets them make decisions more tuned to their needs. Also prices change frequently. It's easy to prefer 1 product based upon price difference, but when prices change the other way, that preference would no longer be valid. The tiered system is more forgiving of price fluctuation.
I don’t think it’s outputting any high res. I don’t think there is a hardware limitation around it. I don’t think one is getting high res out of this thing with the current software rev
Interesting if it could be powered with Power over Ethernet (PoE). Some of the choices made for inputs were also 'interesting'. Seems like you'd go for ubiquitous technologies if you're looking to maximize your sales market. 🤔
agreed. I didn't check into the POE. but it's funny you mention that because at my last real job that was such a push for some of the devices we were selling. Haven't heard that term for a while.
It's not super cheap but I recommend the iFi ipower super mega wall wart power supply. Perfect for this situation in that it comes with multiple barrel and usb connectors for all your small hifi PSU needs. I also think it improves the sound of at least some components, but that may be no more than placebo effect and I'm sure many of you will tell me I'm talking b*llocks. They also work as a neat little travel adapter for taking on your holidays.
I've just read the specs and and one advantage over the Wiim is that this allows optical in through the 3.5 mm input. Could be useful for anyone who wants to get audio out of a tv etc
Yes i ve one and i previous to buy an external dac with this. More over the sound of ieast is better that wiim (without externe dac) from an user who had both but i never ear the wiim. Ieast have an ess sabre and the sound quality is already very nice
I ordred a linear power supply from Aliexpess weeks ago. No shipping notice, no information, my purchase doesn't show on they web site. I have been charged on Paypal and when I got Paypal after them, they dont respond to Paypal. Beware. The service and web site is a disaster.

It' their money and people can take their chance. If Aliexpress doesn't want comments like mine, they should clean up their mess.
Chromecast audio is coming to wiim. It is advertised as a new compatability for the wiim mini pro that is soon to release. My guess is the chromecast ends up backwards compatible to original wiim mini, since they are on same OS / mobile app.
@@OOOOOOOKKKKKKK69 you shouldn’t need to,, the WiiM has a built in dac,, but your actives may as well.
Trust me, after all the hype is over, but the WiiM, the app is awesome and the sound is awesome.
The Wiim is hard to beat.
agreed
Reelin' In The IEAST? Stowing away the WIIM?
Beware. The service and web site is a disaster.
don't shoot the messenger. I just said it was available on aliexpress, Jim
@@cheapaudioman Nothing personal Randy, I just want to make people aware of the difficulty I had. It's not unusual as I have found out, sometimes people have problems, sometimes not . It' their money and people can take their chance. If Aliexpress doesn't want comments like mine, they should clean up their mess.
If only it had chromecast, then it would have an advantage on the Wiim
Chromecast audio is coming to wiim. It is advertised as a new compatability for the wiim mini pro that is soon to release. My guess is the chromecast ends up backwards compatible to original wiim mini, since they are on same OS / mobile app.
The WiiM streamer is a winner.
Im not sur 😁
oh jezz I just bought two WiiM’s.
(Post review)
I think I’m better off with the WiiM. But maybe it’s a future contender
I see an overwhelming amount of positive mentions of the WiiM. About to buy one aswell. Do I need to put a DAC between it and active speakers?
@@OOOOOOOKKKKKKK69 you shouldn’t need to,, the WiiM has a built in dac,, but your actives may as well. You may see an improvement by adding a better dac, but that also depends on how good your speakers are, or perhaps if the speaker manufacturer cheaped out on the built in dac. The WiiM dac sounds good for what it is though.
@@cdelapaz5 Thanks for the info!
I got the edifier S2000MKII which i'm enjoying very much. (active speakers)
Was wondering if adding the WiiM would add anything, or if it would be better to stream tidal masters through a cable instead of bluetooth to the speakers from a tablet
I have no idea how the review turned out, because I'm stuck hard agreeing with the rant at 6:07
yeah. the struggle is real
@@cheapaudioman ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK!
It would be great if Sith Audio made a trash can that is also an audiophile grade cable storage bin.
brilliant
@@cheapaudioman I would Buy a Sith Audio Trash can.. Merch idea...
I would buy a Sith Audio Trash Can to support the channel.
Noice bro!!!!
Why use FLAC for CD's? It seems like a waste of space.
I use my computer as a music streamer. Don't need all those extra stuff.
Thanks
You should actually launch some sith audio products 🤣
