    The AUX out can be used as feed for a powered sub. It's controlled by the volume.

  • @Operation-Underground
    @Operation-Underground 2 місяці тому +41

    As others have noted already... and based on the manual and their website, AUX OUT is a stereo pre-out attenuated by the volume control on the unit. So... Can you use a sub? YES, Can you run PRE OUT/AUX OUT to a stereo power amp YES, can you run a pair of Active Speakers from this output YES. - and even if there is no SUB out on a piece of gear, just find a sub that accepts speaker level input, problem Solved . Inexpensive High pass filters can be found if you want to limit the low frequencies going to your main speakers and match the crossover point with your active sub. Hope that helps.

      @pickyaudiophile 2 місяці тому

      Out of curiousity....Where did you get that from (confirmed) with that AUX labeled attenuated pre out? Manual says "AUX", rear panel indicates "AUX" conventionally referring to "line out", that's the only thing at least I know.

      May I ask more about this. So I have a sub out amp but I want this amp. Will I be able to put a 3.5mm on my sub cable and it'll work properly? Is this amp designed to have a sub? I can't understand why they wouldn't just put a sub out.... Actually 2 sub outs

      @@pickyaudiophile They also show COA instead of "coax" so clearly they are having issues following standard naming conventions for connections. If they are showing the unit connected to a sub from that output and not have it controlled out by the pre-amp circuit they should just go out of business now. This is a moot point because by now several other UA-cam channels would have covered this. The output is variable via the main volume as I noted. Calling it AUX is just bad. Aux is traditionally an INPUT line, not an output so they already screwed up by labeling it that way. LINE OUT, PRE OUT, SUB OUT ( although many sub out will sum the 2 channels - IE NOT All Sub Outs are sending a stereo signal when using a 1/8' jack which is also Not standard. They should have provided a pair of RCA outs but whatever, what's done is done. It's a decent looking budget piece that should suffice for it's intended purpose. It's likely not a giant killer but is flexible and functional. I'll probably grab one to play around with but its obviously not going to replace my Viva Audio Lf1, McIntosh MX110z or any other units taking up space around here nor is it supposed to. Did you end up ordering one? if so what are your thoughts?

      @@IntelligentElephant So, I did not see a direct answer to this, but I just got the amp today. I'm using a 3.5mm to RCA cable into an SVS Micro 3000 active subwoofer. It works great. I use this for my PC desktop system and also have SVS EVO bookshelf speakers along with the micro 3000 subwoofer from SVS. I'll do a review on this setup at some point, but I also have the SVS amp and a Loxjie A30. The Loxjie sounds a bit bloated in the bass compared to both the SVS and Aiyima. More as I play with it for a while. It's a little thinner sounding in the midrange so far, but better stereo separation than the Loxjie or the SVS.

    I have been using mine for 2 months, the cons are: the optical source playback is about 1/2 the output of RCA input, meaning optical playback source can't be turned up loud as RCA input. Both UV meters will adjust to lower levels in the middle of each song even if the amp is playing at 80% power, UV will show as if the amp is only under 10% power load.

    As a live sound engineer there's mixing loud and then there's mixing clear. Unfortunately a lot of folks think the only way to do it is to mix loud. It drives me nuts as long as you're not having to fight over guitar amps and drums to get the vocals audible it should not be that loud that people have to come with hearing protection!

    • @dougle03
      @dougle03 Місяць тому +2

      Problem is most engineers that mix loud have screwed hearing... I've always mixed 'HiFi' No harsh mids and stage noise is kept to an absolute minimum; Guitars on IEM's (So no loud backline), Drums behind screens and horns also behind smaller screens... A well balanced profile and away we go...

      @@dougle03 yep. I got to go to a concert for free if I help them pack up at a theater in the next town over. I was literally watching people coming in with air traffic control earmuffs and putting earplugs in and bringing their kids with earmuffs. I didn't get to enjoy the band and I'm glad I didn't pay for it because I spent the entire time in the lobby listening to the fold back system as it sounded better than being in the room with everything blaring and this was a 500 to 1000? seat theater.
      On the opposite of that I've been doing sound for outdoor summer concerts where I have people telling me they came down from multiple blocks probably close to a mile (ordinarily I would say by the post office but that won't make any sense, which is probably 5 to 10 blocks away in the small town) through town telling me that they heard what was going on. and I'm sitting under 100 DB listening position 50 feet from the stage with a nice clean Mix that's not too loud. but it's clearly then bouncing around the entire Valley. I'm always like I'm so sorry I hope you're enjoying it.
      Most of the stuff I've done has not been IEM's unfortunately. it's really annoying when you have to fight monitors. on the upside if I have full control of the system I always start with the monitors off and bring stuff up. if I don't have full control of the system it's always a challenge to cut as much as I can out of monitors without messing things up from what they're expecting.

      @imark7777777 Місяць тому

      @@dougle03 I would say wind as well but over the course of about 12 concerts in 2023 and 6 in 2024 this was pretty consistent even when there was no wind. Sure sure there's the acoustics of the valley and beginning on one side of the only four-story building in town. Pretty much every week I had somebody telling me about this.
      I also did this in the next town over with a completely different system. Had a neighbor come down saying they got woken up by music a few blocks away and I'm like sorry.
      Although I did go to a seminar where someone mentioned and talked about doing sound at a biblical location and how the two guys thought that they heard the other say something and then realized it was the guy down by the water hundreds of feet away that whispered something. The location was naturally designed in a perfect natural amphitheater to carry sound aided by the perfect breeze off the water naturally amplifying. Cool experience so hope to go there someday. So I totally believe under ideal conditions.

    Most subs have line input with Low pass filter, thus this could still play a part...

    All nice and well, but one thing forgotten with all these little devices is it is creating an external wire mess with all the adapters etc. I have iFi, Bellari, ParksAudio etc. All fine in what that gear is doing but step by step I try to use these less because of the wire mess all together.

    Reading on the Amazon site it says you can swap op amps. Also the output on the back could be used as a subwoofer output as it is volume controlled, just saying. Do you think this sounds as good as an A07, as I use one to play on my Klipshorns and it sound wonderful, just ordered some Sparkos for it.

    Does the "Aux Out" reproduce full range audio or low frequency audio?

    • @MrKentaroMotoPI
      @MrKentaroMotoPI 26 днів тому

      Full range. It's a preamp output. Aiyima has a block diagram on their website.

  • @cr0ft-2k
    @cr0ft-2k 2 місяці тому

    The aux out is a sub out, so that's good. Now I wonder if it has a selectable crossover frequency or if it's just a full range output. Going to assume it's just full range, but that's potentially ok - you just can't cut the bass out of your satellites. But since the aux seems to follow the main volume according to the documentation it will also volume control a sub, and you have to use the sub's crossover.

    My friend keeps blowing the fuse on his old maggies. He says because the amp has too much power. You can hear the distortion when he cranks it. I told him that the fuse was blowing because of clipping. He doesn't believe me and boy does the Aiyima get hot.

    Hi - As you do reviews on cheapaudio from time to time, could you please review Audio Technica's latest refresh on their (entry leve) full auto Turntable? The new model is AT-LP70X - it comes in either a sharp looking bronze and black version as well as gray and black, available with or without bluetooth, and added a different tonearm that allows swapping in any of the whole main model line of A.T. styli, as well as the addition of a previously missing tone arm lift on the old model, the new one looks nice and is well done - the old one didnt have one at all and the motor has been moved further from the tonearm base as well as the power supply being at the wall to reduce any line current noise and they have changed the old RCA "Y" to 1/8" stereo cable plug back to RCA jacks at both ends - and an onboard switchable preamp. The biggest negative is you can buy an entry level Fluance for the price of the new model, so this table is targeted directly at the fully automatic entry level market, but theyve done a good job on this refresh for what it is.

    The trigger input on/off almost certainly doesn’t put the external SMPS into idle/standby, so I’m not sure what purpose that serves… unless it’s a trigger-out rather than a trigger-in.

    About the Loop... how is it at a concert? I used to have some by Senner. They weren't exactly linear but worked fine. When I lost them I bought some by Ropone. Yeah, no. Bass makes them bottom out, which are obviously sounds bad and is rather counterproductive. How about the Loop?

      See the TI TPA3255 datasheet for all the answers. Consider using 48V 12.5A trimmable power supply to get the voltage into the promised land.

    • @RobCCTV
      @RobCCTV 19 днів тому

      300W. No! - not anything near that RMS power is possible with 48V input, regardless of the amp rating of the power supply... and if the power is not stated as RMS, its a meaningless figure.

    I always stuffed toilet paper in my ears when I went to concerts :D It at least worked well enough to keep my ears from ringing afterwards.
    But all these little chip amps...gosh I can't help but roll my eyes at this point. I DO like the sound of the TI chip but ffs coming out with all these tiny iterations over and over again is getting silly. Someone needs to do a veritable moon shot with these chips to absolutely max out the performance, features and sound quality, and just let that be the end of it.

    I’ve been been nurtured, bought up with high bias class A-B amplification. It’s what I know and love. It’s what I’ve invested thousands in. A couple of years ago, my girlfriend and I, gave up our separate homes and moved into a new home, together. For a while, whilst we settled in, much of my stuff, including my hi-fi, went into storage. As a temporary measure, I purchased an ‘all in 1’ hi-fi system for around €600. It included class D amplification and an ES1938 DAC chip. It was shockingly good, for the price. A few months later, when I’d got my hi-fi out of storage and set it up, that class D unit became surplus to requirement.
    Despite it being in imaculate condition, perfect working order and under guarantee, we could not sell it, or give it away. Nobody wanted it. It had no second hand or resale value! I think that’s the potential issue with the current trend toward inexpensive hi-fi. It doesn’t hold the value of its class A-B siblings. Is almost treated as ‘throw away’.

      I've had no problems selling either surplus SMSL, Topping or other small stuff yet. Not at all.
      Traditional hifi equipment on the other hand have become more and more difficult, nobody seems to want it due to size.

    What exactly, means - "...doesn't sound as good as - the more expensive amp...." ?? - Many of these tiny amps MEASURE extremely well, but reviewers, always tell, that the more expensive amps, sound better - even if those amps measure worse....
    So - in what way this one sounds not as good as the big one -assuming you run it with a max possible PS ??
