the trouble is it's at the wrong end of town to make anything decent because of the area which it is near to,you only have to look at where wilkos used to be and the clientele who hang around there,it's a pity because around that area and the canal wharf it could be a very nice area to walk and have a drink or meal like other cities who have a canal basin
If you had lived in Sheffield all your life you would remember that this area was the busiest part of Sheffield, its the council who ruined it. Problem, solution, reaction.
@@timawells The little concrete tower that remains on top of the hill houses some of the ruins. I image that would line up with the castle wall you talk about behind the retaining wall.
@@will3258 I show you a concrete platform with a rusty iron grate on top where they are excavating the moat, 4 metres down is the drawbridge Pier, it can't be hard to remove the concrete slab and I would have started there and moved out.
@@timawells I think that’s their last plan before moving out. Yesterday I was on site helping with some excavation. There’s a fantastic old cobbled street that has been uncovered, beautifully preserved, quite a thin alley way about 2 people wide with quite high walls… it follows the shape of the moat. Whether SCC will keep it or demolish it like the crucible furnace they found I don’t know.
@@will3258 Will my concern was that the raised section towards the concrete wall along Castlegate holds a massive amount of the ruins. The Castlegate wall was documented in the 70s when a slope there and there is at least 10ft of Castle wall sticking out of a ramp that was faced off with a concrete wall. This is a massive historical site that should come before their pleasure park that will put Sheffield on the map. Couldn't they create a holographic image for night time in this area, it would be Iconic.
They want to remove our heritage rather than reutilise. I got some good industrial buildings in this video. ua-cam.com/video/pvgZItnNKtM/v-deo.htmlsi=gVsNVD5H_2B2ADg9
Hello Tim I enjoy watching your videos you speak commonsence
Thanks Richard. Some hate me. I have had it all before with Brexit.

Most of the people on the council are not from this country and have scant regard for our history, sad but true
Same with the middle class students who come to Sheffield.
Quite agree
Hi Tim good little video ... Would U have a walk Carlisle street area old factorys etc old buildings etc please thanks Andy
Morning Andy. Have I captured what you want here? ua-cam.com/video/pvgZItnNKtM/v-deo.htmlsi=gVsNVD5H_2B2ADg9 Best Tim
Interesting. Have you found any photos of this wall Tim? Would be interesting to see how intact it is…
There is a video on the facebook page, but you have to realise that the drawbridge is 4 metres down, so some of these walls are substantial in size.

On Teesside the 'progressive' council has ensured that all former (iconic) industrial buildings are demolished....despite local opinions.

That's what 'Levelling Up' means.
Shame.
They could do so much more. But 75% is going to get buried over with no dig. It would put Sheffield on the map.
