With 2022 passing, the sun is nearly set on the legacy Unitypackage versions of the VRChat SDK's. If you haven't yet migrated to the VRChat Creator Companion, now is the time to do! It takes no time to migrate projects, and only makes things more convenient.

Man I love how this switch over isn't optional. Makes life so much easier. Guess its time to relearn a bunch of stuff and fix at least 50 avatars that broke during the switch. Thanks vrchat, we all love you!

I don't know if this is happening for anyone else, but after installing the creator companion it seems things like importing have taken almost 2-3x longer to import, whether that be making a new project or importing stuff like poiyomi.

This is kinda neat. I haven't uploaded in a long while and I really need to get back into it. I made a bunch of 3d assets for 3D printing D&D minis but I may as well make VRChat avatars out of them too.

I REALLY hope this is optional, not sure if i care to learn a tool made by vrchat when understanding more of unity just feels like its overall more useful in the long run.

the old vrchat sdk will no longer work, it's possible you could download the sdk FROM the companion then move it to regular unity but I don't know, I'm very new to this myself

In other words, they're trying to replace Unity Hub & the simplicity of dragging & dropping unity packages, by now making it 10x more convoluted by adding extra steps that we already were doing. Being a veteran VRC creator, this is just another roadblock for me that VRChat has added. Why make things more convoluted AND phase out what was already working fine, forcing everyone to switch to this? At the very least, KEEP the regular old SDKs available for download, so I don't have to be forced to migrate to the "Creator Companion."
Sorry, I don't see how this makes anything easier for new or experienced users.
Yeah same I really hope to god that they end up canceling this, I mean it’s literally corrupting way more peoples projects than this dude makes it sound like, literally not a single person i know has had a project import into this thing without it being corrupted, there are so many more important things they could be focusing on rn
What I do wish for were better ways of making avatars instead of using the long process of trying to make and program the avatar I'm sure theirs something like that but still it would make it even more easier sense I had a hard time trying to figure out mine which I gave up on a few months ago
For me it's That blasted fk rig. I'd rather animate with a control rig
@dissonanceparadiddle2500 idk what that is but I can tell you that trying to figure out the rig/bones is trying to set up the controls right and tbh its embarrassing to ask as it is while I don't mind asking it still sucks because it should be much more easier than what the above average person with knowledge of how to do this should be able to with someone who doesn't have as much experience but still gives room to create stuff a lot more easier like customization of a character like in most popular RPG games before ypu enter into it the first time and I would like some kind of program that's able for you take the file of something and able to add it and add the hat without the many complicated stuff and all you would need to do is get the file of it that you downloaded and import it to the program and then click it snd put it wherever you want on the avatar like adding a decorations like those in WT on tanks or whatever would be a huge game changer and if they did that with the FX controller and studd etc etc i wish something like that existed where no one would need the requirements of dozens of dozens of hours of trying to figure it out which means it wouldn't need the complexity of someone of an average avatar designer could be made by the average person with little to no experience would be cool but it's a technology and software program that we don't have the capability to do yet while we could idk if their are ones with something like that already come close to that idk but if their some that do have something similar or a fraction of that would be a good way to base on and make a newer better one way more better and capability options etc

As mentioned in the video, assets imported through unity packages should continue to work as normal unless its incredibly outdated. So yes, poiyomi and VRLabs assets work fine. In fact, Avatars 3.0 Manager by VRLabs is one of the curated packages in the companion!
@@Bippsocks Imo its not easier, but that's because I'm used to the legacy way lol. Tbh I prefer the legacy way though, its native and clean. I use to create a new project in Unity, then import stuff I need like assets, tools etc, then I zip the project as a template copy. So whenever I need to start a new project, I just copy the template and open it with stuff like shaders and assets already imported ^^ This is also possible with the creator companion.

I don’t understand I did download everything you said but the one I downloaded it’s 2021 Unity I downloaded the companion pack but it keeps popping up saying the Unity I have downloaded isn’t found maybe I’m using the latest version idk I just know it won’t let me open my project on creator companion. It says Path to a unity editor is not set you will be unable to open projects

Hi~, I need some help if you can, so my friend added CC and they cant find the gesture manage or the avatars 3.0 in there list to add to projects. They are not filtering out curated tho.

Does anyone know how to solve the problem that the vrc companion restarts the unity hub and does not open the project, it has already restarted and uninstalled and I even changed the account and nothing is still stuck

So I'm trying to upgrade a project to use the VCC, but after migration, it just creates an empty project in Unity.
I have a backup of the project, etc - just not sure how to fix or get the project to properly migrate - any advice?

So I'm trying to update a project and no matter what I do, I'm missing half of the Inspector and it says "mono missing script", any ideas? I even tried making a new project and copying/reimporting the assets and scene, still nothing.
This kind of stuff is happening to everyone, this thing is not as clean as he makes it and corrupts way too many peoples projects, there’s a reason why they haven’t unforced it for two months now
So... Unity, but made specifically for VRC? Will GogoLoco still work?
It’s not a unity update, it’s a custom hub for loading projects, and idk if gogo loco will work when they force everyone to switch but i don’t doubt that this thing will basically corrupt half of everyone’s projects when it ships out

VCC apparently works fine on mac/linux with the right .NET6 frameworks installed! ask.vrchat.com/t/developer-update-20-october-2022/14455/60
In the same thread Tupper says that the UI/UX upgrade will make the VCC fully cross platform, so maybe wait on that.

As a long-term Creator I can say fuck the VCC it doesn't help at all and has a tendency to break projects you're trying to upgrade even relatively recent ones
