  • As part of a commission for Suicide Girls, I needed to recreate an embossed metal plate for a vintage candy machine. So, I took a gamble on MDF, cardstock and epoxy resin to replicate the raised type.

    OTHER NOTES
▶ I used plain manila file folders for the cardstock, which I cut using my old Craftwell eCraft plotter.
▶ Before coating the type with epoxy, I actually added a fourth layer of cardstock off camera for a little more depth.
▶ Before painting the cured epoxy, I cleaned it with soapy water and sanded it with 320 grit.
▶ To rust the iron paint (see above), you can use Modern Masters' own Rust Activator solution, but I use a simple mixture of 1 part white vinegar, 4 parts hydrogen peroxide, and salt.
