I make it where it bolts on to the factory holes in frame because dot/fmcsa See 49 CFR 393.201 for full requirements on vehicle frames. say Parts and accessories must not be welded to the frame or chassis of a commercial vehicle except per vehicle manufacturer recommendations. Any welded repair of the frame must comply with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. I’m not a dot expert. I know people that has been fined and had to hitch cut off there trucks because it was welded. It does look good.
