You're a good sport keeping the mistakes in the narrative.. gives legitimacy to this sport and all adventures in SW CO. We do this 2x year and yes the snow was deep this season.

You are in such a great riding area! Loved that new camera angle in the scenery :) Glad you got to finish your most amazing ride.

It was a little dusty I’ll have to admit. The Himy and I looked like we just rolled around in the pasture, sans cow patty thankfully. Thanks!

@@swcoloradoadventures That is crazy that there's still so much snow.

Watching the video reminded me that my ADV riding partner sold his adventure bike a few weeks ago with no plans to replace it. That leaves me riding alone. I've been wondering about the wisdom of riding alone. I used to backpack alone but I was several decades younger. Now on the motorcycle in the mountains and forests I often have no cell coverage. Some risk reassessment is in my future.
Your crash shows how easy it is to have a mishap. I'm not sure how fast you were going when it happens but when I seriously begin to look at the scenery I'm usually slowing down considerably. 15 to 20 MPH. When I ride with someone else and I'm second in line and have to keep up to their pace it becomes an ego challenge to slow down and let them forge ahead. But I do it.
It was a beautiful, challenging, invigorating ride from what I could see on the video. And the water crossing is familiar to me. Slippery rocks are always an issue. Itchy Boots has had her share of mid-crossing stops due to slippery rocks.
My favorite video of your so far. Can't wait to see part 2.

Hey Steve! Thanks for watching. Second wreck in two weeks, and, two rides. Not a good average. After this little wake up call I slowed it way down and even pulled off to sight see. Its a great place to ride for sure. There are so many.
I am have definitely been evaluating my safety choices since the trails have opened up that are much higher, more remote and rougher in places. If I was not wearing armor and a helmet, it would have been a bad deal, at least more bruises. Just one from it thankfully.
I reckon thats part of learning like I am off-road. Really need to know where you stand with skills and all the other safety concerns.
      Thanks!

Yeah especially in those areas depending on the day you might not see many people. The spot GPS things look good, where you could text message or send a distress signal out.

Live your life. Don't be afraid. I ride alone all the time and actually find solace in it. Just plan accordingly and have a Garmin inReach.

Yet another excellent vid. Now if that was a 1000cc plus quarter ton plus adv you stuck in the scenery you'd probably be in hospital now. Anyhow I hold you responsible for putting Colorado on my bucket list .. to visit.. if I ever get to retire .. if the UK government don't put retirement age up to 90.....😎

🤣 Just never know about that, I reckon! Come on over anytime. I will holler when I am back in UK, hopefully next summer. Neither of us will be 90...yet. Yes, my silly mistake could have been much worse for sure! Thanks, James.

I'll give you a piece of advice I got from an old biker boy back in the dim and distant past... keep your machinery out of the scenery, and never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly... 🇬🇧👍👍

@swcoloradoadventures this is not Hermose Creek Trail. This Is Hermosa Park area. Hermosa Creek Trail is a single track that goes from the Hermose Campground to Hermosa Park.

Good points. It was labeled several different ways between onxoffroad, trails off road and google maps.

I was thinking the same thing. I rode the single track last year. He went right and off the trail. They wouldn't have made the single track. needs more experience

that it some of the most beautiful country did you come in from Pagosa or Ignacio I live in Wyoming but when Im lucky I get to take a road trip for work come up from Montrose through Durango Im very good with sense of direction but when I get around Grand Junction I loose all sense of it when heading toward the San Jauns

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  Рік тому +1

Hey Kevin! This is just north or Durango off of 550. So if you come through Red Mountain pass, as you come out of the twisties at Coal Bank pass, off to the right, west, is Purgatory. You should drive right past it. Just up the drive to the parking lots of Purgatory, this road takes off. Worth checking out for sure. Thanks!

I thought the title was Hermosa creek trail, but you turned up Bolam Pass? Which is it?

Keep following that road into the Aspens and look to the right. you will see numerous tree structures. Man! you're making me home sick.

It’s a great ride. We ended up going further but ran into too much snow on the road to get further. Fun stuff still!
