Hi Peter. Rediculously simple is just fine. As like you, I'm a woodworker with a quilter wife, we've seen (and I've built) quite a number of offerings to hang quilts - and in my experience, simple is good!
The very reason for subscribing to channels like yours and clicking the notification bell. Now I have another nugget of information in my arsenal. Love the uniform measuring technique. I used to pack reserve parachutes. A bar similar to yours was used to hang the parachute prior to inspection and assembly. Thanks for sharing 🪂
Interesting, thanks! Yes, I know vids like this one are very simple, and won’t reach a wider audience, but I try to put a few things in there that will help in other jobs. 👍👍
I was looking for ideas for hanging a unicorn wall panel in our granddaughters room. This is easy enough for us to do and I think we’ll add a shorter one with 3 or 4 clips on another wall so she can hang her artwork. Surprising her for her 8th birthday! You’ve got a new subscriber!
Just wanted to let you know that I followed your directions and the hanger works perfectly. So glad I found your video. Clips were 6 for $3.00 in Nova Scotia, Canada
Nice, simple, unpretentious and effective solution there Peter. I like the awl & batten 'template'. Not quite Festool referencing off a previous domino slot, but my grandfather used to drill the same way - piece of wood, 2 holes and a spare drill bit in the last hole as reference.
What’s that Steve - the old envelope trick, tape to the wall? I have a couple of extractor hoses that also do the job, but the dust pan’s already in the room... 🤷♂️👍
Yes Peter, similar to the old envelope trick. But instead of an envelope (that seldom catches all of the dust), Andy uses the bottom of an old rectangular plastic container, cut to a sort of tray shape.
another good video Peter did not realise how popular quilt making is, how about a 10 minute video on making small picture frames with mitre saw and router.
Thanks! Doesn’t look like it’s all that popular after all, lol! Do people make picture frames? They’re so cheap to buy from supermarkets etc... but I guess if someone wanted to make one as a gift 🤔🤷♂️🤷♂️👍👍
Hi Peter. Gorgeous quilts for sure!! And I’ll be using that notched spacer trick in the future; looks real handy. In return I’d like to offer up a tip you may find handy. In the USA they use to make “cabinet maker screwdrivers” where all drivers have round stock from the tip to the handle. The Phillips’ shanks/rods are the same diameter of the tip size, so a #1 is skinny all the way down, and so on. Also the standard drivers have round shanks that are slightly less in diameter f(or smaller) than the width of the flat blade. I have some up to 20 inches long. I tried Googling them but mostly the typical square or hex shanks came up. Often they are the only ones that will fit a deep hole.
Peter ,havent you seen the blanket ladders yet ,you can hang 5or 6 on one ladder, she has some very nice colourful work there ,when is she doing a "10 minute workshop "you say she makes tapestries too have seen anybody doing that since i was a kid and the ole women would sit there doing that at family picnics ,great idea ,no problem with humidity and rust with the claps
@@10MinuteWorkshop boy i need to put my glasses on before i read that "all she wants to do is sew and make quilts" hahaha ,sorry peter, there in a nice safe place my shop
Beautiful quilts. My wife has taken over 2 rooms for her quilting hobby. Have to keep her happy to keep adding tools. :). Have you ever made any “Barn quilts”? (Made out of wood and hung on exterior out buildings)
My question is nothing to do with woodwork Peter, it is this, is that Tan hat with the Red ribbon yours mate , if it , you have to wear that on your next video ,from Garry in Barnsley, been admiring the banging that Gorforth Andy has been making on his drum kit, hidden talent uh, and I play guitar, keyboard and drums so pride myself on knowing a bit of talent and Andy not too shabby on the drum kit, AND he reads music, just shows the hidden depths some people have, best wishes from me and keep posting pal
Great idea but London doesn't have the problems with humidity some places have. All I could think of was rust stains ruining the beautiful quilts. If you are in a place where humidity is a factor, use some clear plastic tubing to make jaw protectors.
Thanks! Clips I used and link to are stainless, so shouldn’t be an issue wherever you are, but of course, I’d expect folks to apply a bit of common sense wrt their location. 👍👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop Touching, but I don't have your faith in common sense. Building a nuclear power plant in a earthquake zone. Building a ship and not providing sufficient lifeboats because it is unsinkable. Letting someone captain the Exon Valdez through a ecologically fragile area with a reputation for being a drunk. Being the second leader to invade Russia without making adequate provision for winter. Thinking that the mere fact of impeachment would teach the president a lesson.
Thank you, I'll pass the message along! I just find it incredible the level of skill in cutting and joining fabric - I wish I could apply half as much to woodworking! 👍
peter, why didn't you just put a small pc of 1/4"--/3/8 ply in the jaw before assy----it would have held the Two holes in the clamp in line ---you might not have had to alter your driver (now my wife wants them) regards rick
😂 It was never going to be a popular one with the regulars, but if it helps to bring a few more people into the channel I can live with the negativity. 👍👎🤷♂️
Welcome to the dark side (husband of a quilter). My wife sews pockets onto the backing and I hang the quilt from a curtain rod. The upside of being married to a quilter is that your spouse can't complain about how much you spend on woodworking. Just as woodworkers are constantly going to the store for screws, hardware, etc, quilters are constantly going to the fabric store for one more piece of fabric or spool of thread. And $3000 sewing machines justify any new woodworking tool.
Brilliant idea. Thanks!
Genius idea!
Very nice way to economically display your wife’s quilts.
Thanks! 👍

I'm proud of this for you thank you so much
My wife is a quilter. You'd be surprised how rarely the woodwork hobby and the quilt hobby overlap. Like, this is probably the first time on youtube !
Haha, that’s kind of what I figured; no harm in bringing them together, once in a while though, eh? 👍👍
this is a good idea, thanks

Hello Peter, I'm surprised you don't use the Andy Mac method of dust collection. It's cheap, and leaves you with both hands free.
Wouldn't it be easier to hold the clips open (with a thin lath) while screwing so that the holes would be aligned ?
I’ll try but next time 👍

For your healthy and safety the clips had better not cause damage.
Absolutely no damage caused by the clips - extensive testing before fitting. 👍👍
