I was looking for ideas for hanging a unicorn wall panel in our granddaughters room. This is easy enough for us to do and I think we’ll add a shorter one with 3 or 4 clips on another wall so she can hang her artwork. Surprising her for her 8th birthday! You’ve got a new subscriber!

Hi Peter. Gorgeous quilts for sure!! And I’ll be using that notched spacer trick in the future; looks real handy. In return I’d like to offer up a tip you may find handy. In the USA they use to make “cabinet maker screwdrivers” where all drivers have round stock from the tip to the handle. The Phillips’ shanks/rods are the same diameter of the tip size, so a #1 is skinny all the way down, and so on. Also the standard drivers have round shanks that are slightly less in diameter f(or smaller) than the width of the flat blade. I have some up to 20 inches long. I tried Googling them but mostly the typical square or hex shanks came up. Often they are the only ones that will fit a deep hole.

Nice, simple, unpretentious and effective solution there Peter. I like the awl & batten 'template'. Not quite Festool referencing off a previous domino slot, but my grandfather used to drill the same way - piece of wood, 2 holes and a spare drill bit in the last hole as reference.

Yes Peter, similar to the old envelope trick. But instead of an envelope (that seldom catches all of the dust), Andy uses the bottom of an old rectangular plastic container, cut to a sort of tray shape.
peter, why didn't you just put a small pc of 1/4"--/3/8 ply in the jaw before assy----it would have held the Two holes in the clamp in line ---you might not have had to alter your driver (now my wife wants them) regards rick

Great idea but London doesn't have the problems with humidity some places have. All I could think of was rust stains ruining the beautiful quilts. If you are in a place where humidity is a factor, use some clear plastic tubing to make jaw protectors.

Welcome to the dark side (husband of a quilter). My wife sews pockets onto the backing and I hang the quilt from a curtain rod. The upside of being married to a quilter is that your spouse can't complain about how much you spend on woodworking. Just as woodworkers are constantly going to the store for screws, hardware, etc, quilters are constantly going to the fabric store for one more piece of fabric or spool of thread. And $3000 sewing machines justify any new woodworking tool.
