I think one of the most charming things about watercolor is the lack of control as it can result in happy accidents that give paintings more personality
Thats something fascinating about watercolour. The genius doesnt try to control the colour but accepts its dynamics and plays with it, always creating something else than he originally planned, accepting that it wasnt what he tried to do but is still wonderful. Watercolour just taught me something about life haha
First, if your style of being detailed is using the stamp and making sure it's precise, I am happy to hear that I'm not alone. I am very precise and detailed with whatever art I'm doing. I thought I was just weird but decided it made me happy, and I wasn't on a time crunch, so why did it matter? Second, I think the card is so unique and gorgeous. As I watched, I kept wondering where you thought you had messed up. I couldn't find anything that indicated that. One thing I have learned is that no one but me can see the errors in my work. I have even, in time, grown to appreciate the time and talent that went into the piece and see the beauty in it. I hope you can appreciate the time and talent in your card and see its beauty.
Your watercolors gone wrong are better than mine when they're right! That is completely beautiful. I could watch you paint all day. Very light and lovely technique. Thanks for sharing.
I'm an oil painter, but have started making my own cards and wanted to do some painting on them. I love this! So, now, I have to give it a try in watercolor---outside the box for me! Can't wait!
Thank you so much for this. I have thrown away many pieces that I have been painting and then given up, in the past ... so never really got anywhere! This wonderful video has now given me the urge to try again .(at 65!)... and make the most of little mistakes .... or as a great man used to say "Happy little accidents" (Bob Ross) what you did with that was beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing! xxxx
Honestly, this piece is so whimsical and what you think is a mess up is really how watercolor is, it's imperfect but yet the imperfectness is what makes it so beautiful.
This is stunning! Absolutely love the loose style. It's so different, but really appealing. Thanks for opening my eyes to even more possibilities, Dawn!
I remember watching this 2-4 years ago when I knew nothing about Art at all, and now 2-4 years later,I'm re-watching this knowing everything from Copics, Watercolors, gouache, acrylic, to techniques, brushes, best brands and everything. God I've come so far :')
I can't believe this was a mistake because I really love the look of it, and it looks as tho it was meant to be that way! Goes to show you should keep going even if u hate it at first and want to start over....lovin' this!!!
This card is so beautiful. when I was watching, before you added the sentiment, I was thinking it was almost like the holidays were whissping, or fading, away, and I was thinking of a sentiment like "may the merriment of the holidays never fade"... or something...
Funny how one's 'mistake' can really turn out to be a beautiful masterpiece. I really love this! I also love how you even captured the reflection of the red bauble in the blue one. Thanks for sharing!
Dawn, your talent is amazing! This card is just a perfect example for most of us, that Christmas can be messy and not perfect and our plans get changed or something happens and yet...it's still beautiful! Love this...you need to frame this one:)
You never cease to amaze with your talent, I could watch you all day long, thank you so much for sharing your talent, keep up more videos..big hugs girl x
you did very good. I actually like this. I didn't think you had made a mistake until you mentioned it, but I love the look, is not perfect and that's what makes this card just perfect, tfs hugs Cindy
Very easy and beautiful! Even I made mistakes many times, sometimes It's very hard to deal with and sometimes it gives very beautiful effects unexpectedly...
This. Is. Beautiful. I love this style so much, it looks like it is out of a dream! But whenever I try to do it, I end up focusing too much on perfection. I can never let go like this but I am trying. Mine always looks to neat. I hate being a perfectionist, because I firmly believe that art is interpretation and this inspires me soo much! Thx.
Here's an idea for overlapping stamps. After you do the initial stamp, stick a small post-it note over the section you don't want the ink to go the second time. Then you don't have to worry about getting the right area wiped off of the stamp before you stamp the second time.
Love this card. I too am an overly detailed watercolourist and appreciate "accidents" and more free form. This is a good exercise for me. I have a few questions. At about 4:28 and again at5:45 in this video, what is it that you sprinkle? What dark colour do you use for the top fasteners of the balls? Looks like maybe paynes grey? I think my small group of ladies will enjoy this.
As far as I understand, the colors weren't supposed to spill outside of the ornaments. At some point she wets the outside of one of them and they start spilling. I think that's when she decided to go with it.
I actually believe that this is THE prettiest card I have ever seen. I am in AWE!
Ja jäklar... jag satt som förhäxad genom hela filmsnutten. Så där vill jag också kunna göra!
Malin P Nåkesdotter I agree Malin!
+Nykki i am not agree with her cause I saw some videos with watercolors and it wasn't wrong
Totally agree! Awsome!

I think thats beautiful!! Love the smeared look😁💙
I really like that, "I took that as my cue to loosen up." I feel like that is a really good tip for us watercolor beginners. Thank you!

If that was wrong......I wouldn't want it to be right! Beautiful!!
Your watercolors gone wrong are better than mine when they're right! That is completely beautiful. I could watch you paint all day. Very light and lovely technique. Thanks for sharing.
Ha! I wish I could mess up as beautifully as you do! I also find the result stunning. Greetings from Germany!

To say it went wrong it certainly looks beautiful. I love it x

The accidental imperfection is what made this card wonderful!
I love watching you paint. Those ornaments are beautiful.
Lovely.. stunning... tried it.. could not make it such beautifully...
Wow! Really enjoyed watching you watercolor those ornaments! They are so gorgeous, Dawn! ❤️

Dawn, this is beautiful. Some days you control the watercolor, other days it controls you. But this is gorgeous!

This is STUNNING.
This is stunning! Absolutely love the loose style. It's so different, but really appealing. Thanks for opening my eyes to even more possibilities, Dawn!

I LIKE it! "Hey Mikey; SHE LIKES IT!!!" I really do and thanks for sharing
It's beautiful! If I could paint even half as well as you I'd be thrilled. My mistakes end up in the trash.
Only the Artist it self can tell where and when they did something wrong with their piece. Marvelous Painting
Beautiful!!
very beautiful
This was considered a fail?! It's absolutely gorgeous! I would buy a card this beautiful. I'm actually going to try and make one similar this year!

Serendipitous accidents! Often more lovely for their imperfection. Beautiful~
I don't see the problem...
me either
Same here... confused because I cannot see what went wrong, maybe I'm just blind :D
As far as I understand, the colors weren't supposed to spill outside of the ornaments. At some point she wets the outside of one of them and they start spilling. I think that's when she decided to go with it.
Best one I have seen.
I call this an extremely happy accident. The card turned out beautiful.
