    This is sooo good. You get the idea of why you really play that opening. The challenge that I see for Poki is how she maintains the lead if the enemy blunders from one of those orders mentioned. It's good if the enemy loses a queen but if it's a knight or bishop, I think it's difficult for a beginner to find ideas for an attack that could win the game. I see Poki's playing style to be very meticulous and very defensive at times that could lead her often to find the best moves. So, just like Hikaru said, she has to be confident making those moves because then she might lose a lot of time thinking.

    LOVEEE these London lessons with Poki. Just wanted to say.
    I legit won a bullet game yesterday using one of the basic mating patterns with the Bishop trade. Like I always knew about moving the bishop back to get the open file if they decide to trade, but I didn't know these specific lines I could use to abuse it because the videos I've watched from other YTers *cough* Levy *cough* only show how to get basic good positions, but not these detailed ways on how to push forward once you get the good positions. It makes so much more sense why the knight is so strong on e5 as well now with the pawn retake pushing the enemy knight away.
    Just chefs kiss out there for this content. And no hate towards Levy just a fun poke since ik these two are streamer fam. Man taught me the basic openings I needed to start brainlessly blundering in bullet for funsies.

    Love these lessons! Great stuff Mr. Hikaru! Poki has so much potential as a chess player, I think, and you're an amazing player and I know there's some recent drama but compared to some other streamers on the platform I've seen on other categories I have considered you to be pretty positive and show humility. I get it, you're a Super GM. Of course you have some ego. Who can rise up in the chess world without it? I don't know details about some of the stuff Alex and Andrea brought up but the past is the past and based on everything I've seen with you, you're a pretty reasonable man and I think moving forward things can be much better for all parties. I love what you did for chess with pairing up with xqc and now there's so much momentum and I see only great things for the chess world moving forward. I hope that things can be resolved because I love everything Alex and Andrea have done and support them with all my heart. I also support you and it can be saf when there is conflict. I understand conflict is the nature of chess and life but I just hope for all of us that we can move forward and work toward a better tomorrow.

    • @DonFreeq
      @DonFreeq 3 роки тому

      But why would anyone before IM lvl want to learn London? =D It's just absurd. One of the worst openings for learning.
      Besides that if you know dude is playing London you just go 1. d4 c5 and from what I have seen London players have no clue how to play Benoni structures. It's counter to London in 1 move, in practical terms at worst as black you will be 0.00 after 15 moves.
      London is soooo bad for the beginners xd
      Btw. I hope Hikaru secretly teaches her how to cope with 1. ...c5 cuz if her opponents have at least half decent trainers she will face Old Benoni for sure. Most of stuff she learned in London should be worthless in pogchamps.

      @@DonFreeq he's obviously going to discuss the counters at some point, but I guess for now just learning the natural development of this opening it's quite good enough considering the average level of her contenders.
      You should teach someone how to properly handle and aim a gun firstly, rather than going straight to gunfight strategies and positioning

    • @DonFreeq
      @DonFreeq 3 роки тому

      @@ym276 Well best she can go for is 1. d4 c5 2. c3. Nf6 3. Bc4 Qb6 4. Qc1 cxd4 5. cxd4 Nc6 e3 which is as harmless London as you can get. It's miniscurely worse for white with super dull position. There obviously other lines which Black can go for and which may be more challenging theoretically. Btw. good luck her playing Qc1 if she doesn't know the move. What attacking at London than? :D If her opponent plays on that level 1. ...c5 she has neither attack nor advantage.
      Only "true" counter is simply biting and going for Benoni structure, but she will never ever do that.
      @Carl Tan
      Well you speaking with someone who tends to do the opposite. My first game ever rapid otb I played against some almost 1900 and opened with KG which I won. Come on, losing as 1900 to unrated player in KG is the story to tell not the shitty 60 moves endgame conversion win in boring London.
      Edit What's funniest noone later after that 1 round responded with 1. ...e5. Even if there is only a slim chance you don't want to be defeated in KG against unrated guy otb =D Even if you lose you still get some respect for trying while with freaking London even if you win you get close to no respect at all. Having proper reputation is actually very beneficial in chess by psychological terms. If you are London player and you blundered some pawn you just blundered it. It's goner. On the other hand if you are crazy tactician half of your pawn blunders will be not taken. Guys often decide it's not worth the risk. In worst case you will gain at least some time on clock. Besides that against that sort of opponents you rarely try hard for advantage in opening as be safe is way more important while against London player you pick your favorite antilondon line and than treat the guy like a sitting duck. You will never ever get any sort of respect otb by playing London.
      London which on low lvl is actually really bad opening due to lack of knowledge how to play against Benoni and inability to make plans, tactics and middlegame overall when you are out of your comfort zone. You see London player? Just do the craziest stuff possible, g5 is welcomed as well if even mildy possible. I have never seen in my whole life London player below 2k who is decent in tactics and dynamics on their respective level. Once you changed the nature of the position from positional to dynamic play you basically won. That's what London does for you. London in fact is one of the worst openings for beginners, because it doesn't learn anything valuable in long run. It simply stops your progress.
      It's just an emergency button aka fish instead of the rod where you maybe not lose even though you are really weak. However done harm is enourmous.
      Obviously I know it's a freaking Pokimane so no much respect from Hikaru and we teach her London so maybe she somehow doesn't lose. Pay attention that with Negreanu there is nothing like that. There you have mutual respect and no kitty catty stories about overpowered London ;) London is simply for beginner players you don't put any belief in. "Here take a London and gimme those couple bucks" ^^
      Doesn't blow your mind those hordes of London players who proudly point out their 900/1000/1100/1200 rating in comment section? Maybe they are still freaking 1100 only because they learned it and still playing? Personally I think so.
