I agree. While Emet-Selch is undoubtedly a well-written Ascian, I always empathized with Elidibus more. Emet definitely had some good points, but Elidibus genuinely felt like a hero who just ended up on the wrong side. I think at his core, he's the same as Venat... I'm hoping that the p11 version of Neath dark waters is the final one that we get. not because I'm tired of it or anything negative, but that I feel like it has reached a good point, that instead of hearing the ticking of the final days, or a clash of wills, that it finally had an upbeat feeling, like we were having a sparring match with an old friend we hadn't seen for years. I think that is a good version to end on.
I kept remembering that he was voiced in the teaser for this raid, so it was a surprise, but a welcome one. I was thinking they'd leave his memory of us implied as it was, but meeting what was left of him at the end of it all after saying goodbye twice under different circumstances hits so hard
I’m so glad that he had some closure I felt awful that he sacrificed himself so we could travel to Elpis. I’m glad that we were able to speak to him, and he is finally able to rest.
I think its possible this isnt the last time we see Elidibus. The final scene is VERY reminiscent of when Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus were talking to each other in the Aetherial Sea. You couldn't hear their voices like you can Elidibus here. We didn't see them being taken from the sea, but they were by Hydaelyn. Its possible something is doing the same thing with Elidibus. I don't think the light is us seeing him being reincarnated, I think its him being returned to Etheirys.
It's an optional mission, it's not for MSQ, this is the last time we're gonna see him. Just like Gaius is no longer relevant after being included in optional content. I really think side content like this shouldn't be optional, the ending Pandemonium marks the ending of Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga, we have the main antagonist of the game saying goodbye ¿How is this optional?
@Navytroy No actually that's where you're wrong it's not a complete out of the question This is a final fantasy game something they are known for doing is rehash tagging and reusing their stuff over and over Everything about 14 is from another final fantasy game there's nothing original here if u do digging u see Now is that a guarantee that they will no it a 50/50 And that's the whole point of final fantasy lol but There are ways Of doing it without breaking the game completely No it won't be the same plot line it will be back burner or something like that but no not same thing or problem again
@@NavytroyXIV I mean, Crystal Tower was optional until it wasnt But I do think this is the last we're going to see of Elidibus, since this feels like it's truly the wrap-up of his character. He's completed his duty and is no longer burdened by it, he's let go of the resentment he had toward the WoL and remembers their friendship, and he's finally content to leave the safety of the star in the hands of the WoL.
God… Poor Themis… you summon yourself as an eikon with the sacrifice of half your people to save your world, only to clash with your eikonic counterpart, Venat, summoned to oppose and bind you who was a friend of yours no less, to have your eikonic form and home shattered to pieces. Then living the eons in an altered state slowly losing your memories just trying to fulfill your duty with what remaining brothers you have left only for them to be cut down by the WoL as you yourself are cut down. And as if that wasn’t bad enough you are denied a sound rest as what remains of your soul is used by a crazy lady for her attempted ascent into actual godhood. I still feel really guilty about him. I wish he could be given new life to join us as new old friends instead of enemies. A chance to show him a life of adventure instead.
I swear to god FFXIV better give us a moment like the end of Digital Devil Saga 2 with all all the reincarnated child versions of lahabrea, emet selch and elidibus running around going on adventures together
It's not impossible that we won't ever see them again In one form or another if you do a little bit of digging you'll find some stuff in the game That leaves the door open And something people want to sit here and fight about is this is a final fantasy game what they don't understand is final fantasy reuses stuff all the time nothing in 14 is really all that unique if you go and look at all of their other titles And what they're using the bits and pieces of other games I really do believe that at some point in the future because something happened We will at least end up seeing 2 of them again Because another way to phrase this is why did they wait this song to fill in the detail There is something they are up to in hiding on purpose when you put that much effort into something
I loved the ending but I needed more for it being Thee send off of everything within this arc. Like a cinematic ending like they did with omega of Themis, Emet and Hythlodaeus in Elpis and Themis narrating his thoughts on Azem... Idk something to cut those onions deeper

I wish we had gotten to hear lahabraha voice from the past. When I read his txt it’s always calm and precise. A little cold, but it’s definitely not unhinged.
One thing that confused me was Elidibus used his very last mote of aether stored in CT to sent us to Elpis and he's gone gone, meanwhile this Themis is just memories manifested so why did the game tried to imply that he's going to the aethereal sea like everyone else and can possibly reincarnate ?
In the aetherial sea, Emet gained clarity on what he had forgotten due to that machine in Elpis and finally became himself again. I think it is mostly showing that in the aetherial sea, the real Elidibus gained the same such clarity and his mind and memories were restored. While this Elidibus we are speaking to is memories, it is the closest and most accurate thing we can get to speaking to the real, dead Elidibus and is accurate to what he feels now in the afterlife or whatever. So the scene of the aetherial sea is either a bit in the past when he did truly die or the memories version we are talking to went and rejoined with him somehow.
G’raha had the idea to talk to Elidibus in CT but he warned us maybe it wasn't possible due to his soul being absorbed little by little back to the aethereal sea from the moment he was trapped. So part of his soul was already there before he spent aether to send us to Elpis.
This is actually Themis's soul, though. He says it himself. After Elidibus spent the last of his aether to send us to Elpis, his soul would have gone to the aethereal sea, where Athena found it after bringing Pandaemonium there. This is the same Elidibus, at least in some form.
@@tacitidesong I think the only confusion then with his soul returning to the aetherial sea is that Elidibus/Themis 'died' on the First at the CT, which would imply his soul returned to the First's aetherial sea rather than the Source's, at least based on how the game treats the aetherial seas of the Source and the Thirteenth as being separated. Based on his memories of CT, at least part of his soul did make its way back to the Source, but it's not clear how at this time.
Yep, the implication is that his soul was just abt to get cleaned from all his memories and be reborn as a baby. I would’ve loved if at the end with the black screen we had some voices of the mother and the doctor telling her it’s a boy
@@Wildbarley I dont think she knows about pandemonium as it’s like a very kept secret that only few know that even Themis only know about it after investigating, so no I don’t think she told Azem. Also the WoL visited Elpis before Pandemonium so she couldn’t tell Azem even if she could as the WoL hasn’t been to Pandemonium before.
My one, ONE complaint about this scene... is the music IMMEDIATELY stopping as soon as Themis fades and the WoL instantly scowling. It felt... kinda weird.
I find it particularly interesting that Themis said “we clash… then I send you forward” Is this implying the WoLs he summoned during Seat is from the past he encountered in Pandaemonium?
@@wrathava That makes sense but I dont remember that being explained. The only reason it makes sense is because I watched videos on how aether functions in general. However, I was under the impression that his aether was literally converted to an aetherical channel to Elpis and thus would consume his very essence. Effectively resulting in what Hydaelyn said "and not even my soul remaineth". I really thought Elidibus was dead for good.
@@silvernodeHydaelyn is completely gone, yes. But ‘using up my essence’ was simply referring to his aether, but when the game tells you a soul is gone, it generally tells you. Plus Hydaelyn was probably able to pluck these souls back into the sea herself.
@@jemm113 Keep in mind, even hydaelyn will get reincarnated but since she both attained her lifes purpose with solace and her aether is extremely dispersed, the person formed from her recycled wiped clean aether will be a completely new individual unburdened by any past legacy or memory, outside of a few familiar traits like wanderlust.
It's from the Archfiend Attire set. Unfortunately that was a PVP Series 1 reward from 6.1, so don't think it's obtainable. Hopefully they'll bring it back sometime.
And they butchered his last line, the last scene in all other languages implies that he is getting reborn there. But ofc Koji Fox can't have that. Same with Zenos who tells you in other languages that your life was a wonder and he was jealous and wished for something like that but in english he just made it all about the WoL.
I thought it was clearly him being reborn as he went into the light, and after watching a handful of streams of this moment, most people in those chats realize what's happening as well. I don't think it's subtle, so I wouldn't worry about most people missing out on the intended meaning.
I mean, if you can't tell either thing without having it spelled out for you, that's you having some serious comprehension issues. Don't blame the localization team for your own problems, eh?
@@shinobirecords2018 I think the localization team deserves criticism if the other language translations imply the rebirth, as well as if Zenos' final words were of remark towards appreciation of the WoL rather than what was said. The fact that they make these kinds of decisions, which can and do mislead the fans, says something about intent.
I love how people blame Venat for the crimes of the ancients, yet no one blames the big 3, they also played their part in this as did WE, I personally understand why she did it and what she did. Sometimes we have to sacrifice one to save the many, that was her way of ending the contious blood shed of the 14. #teamvenat
Those people just don't get the idea. When you are put in a position that need to make a life-n-death choice in an urgent situation and you are given 2 shitty options. You had to choose the less shitty option which offer a slim chance of survivability, even when to everyone else, it's still a shitty choice. Plus it's not like Venat saw herself a hero, she knew what would come as the consequences of her action.
Venat was just someone put in front of a huge nuke button being told that her option was to not push the button and know that her people and the universe would be doomed, or push it and doom her own people but know that from their ashes, new civilizations would spring that could end the source of the apocalyptic event ravaging the universe itself, and that they would be able to weather any strife that comes their way, with the WoL being the living proof for that. "Sunder your people now and know there will be a hopeful future for the star, or don't do it and know that they'll perish all the same, alongside every other creature in existence. Good luck."
As we can say to omega, they were all to blame in one way or another, and yet none were to blame. None of them were innocent, all of them made terrible choices, but in the end, most of them (not you hermes) were subjectively necessary. And ai don't know whose opinions you've been reading but PLENTY of people condemn the three unsundered for their actions 😂 People can have different opinions of characters in lore. Let them have their opinions.
@@Zakjuh It's a reflection of the idea of a genuine self sacrifice... perish so that others might live, rather than to cling to life knowing it would insure all life ends. The acceptance that there is something bigger than yourself, and that it deserves your love.
Venat action inspired from future human. If she doesn't know story from WoL, She will never choose that choice. it all becuase she still have memories. that why she bet in future mankind more than her mankind. Easily she trust in WoL.
No, they touched on that. His empowering the tower to make the trip to Elpis basically kills him, returning him back to the cycle. The problem is more that Venat permanently died, her soul completely completely dissipated to the point of being unable to reincarnate just because she used a lot of power in her duel with you. Yet Themis exhausts every last mote of his life force and can just go back to the Aetherial Sea. That shit is inconsistent to me. Still, I like Themis so I'm happy to see him get somewhat of a happy (bittersweet) end and rebirth, but it does put emphasis on just how hard the writer's hand forced Venat to be consigned to oblivion, "just because."
@@Zakjuh It could be that, having been sealed as Zodiark for such a long time (and having withdrawn himself from him, besides), Elidibus wasn't subject to the same kind of strain on his soul that Venat was.
@@tacitidesong Maybe. But his soul and his totality was basically just used entirely as fuel. If Venat's fate fits any Ancient, it's his. Not that I want Elidibus's soul to be consigned to oblivion. I like him! I just also think it shouldn't have happened to Venat, and that the other Ancients have far more reason to suffer her fate (in terms of what happened to their souls) than she did.
I really hope and want to see Lahabrea make a come back in the aetherial sea and see his soul free of Athena's corruption and see him finally accept that WoL was the victor and be free of his sense of duty and consider the WoL as the friend that they truly are.
Even with Lahabrea becoming whole again and more powerful, Themis still be like “step out of line and I’ll end you” I feel like 5.3 should’ve been more of a challenge, and I think Elidibus is far more powerful than anyone gives him credit for.

Those motherfuckers made me cry for Elidibus's death three times.
THREE TIMES.
I suspect this too, I don't think its the last we will see of Elidibus.
Same I don't think it the end based on what I have seen digging a bit
It's an optional mission, it's not for MSQ, this is the last time we're gonna see him.
Just like Gaius is no longer relevant after being included in optional content.
I really think side content like this shouldn't be optional, the ending Pandemonium marks the ending of Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga, we have the main antagonist of the game saying goodbye
¿How is this optional?
@Navytroy No actually that's where you're wrong it's not a complete out of the question This is a final fantasy game something they are known for doing is rehash tagging and reusing their stuff over and over Everything about 14 is from another final fantasy game there's nothing original here if u do digging u see Now is that a guarantee that they will no it a 50/50 And that's the whole point of final fantasy lol but There are ways Of doing it without breaking the game completely No it won't be the same plot line it will be back burner or something like that but no not same thing or problem again
@@NavytroyXIV I mean, Crystal Tower was optional until it wasnt
But I do think this is the last we're going to see of Elidibus, since this feels like it's truly the wrap-up of his character. He's completed his duty and is no longer burdened by it, he's let go of the resentment he had toward the WoL and remembers their friendship, and he's finally content to leave the safety of the star in the hands of the WoL.
I’m so happy we got more side content that has voice acting… I was completely caught off guard
Themis 💔 Oh god this raid is a rollercoster of emotions 😢
FFXIV-2, Emet and the gang become popstars in another life
damn no lahabrea?
6:58 so our boy has been reborn
I loved the ending but I needed more for it being Thee send off of everything within this arc. Like a cinematic ending like they did with omega of Themis, Emet and Hythlodaeus in Elpis and Themis narrating his thoughts on Azem... Idk something to cut those onions deeper
I know what you mean, but I love the grace and the quiet, private somber of the moment; especially as his soul returns to the Sea.
I hope Elidibitty has a good life 🥺
We have the technology to voice non-MSQ cutscenes!
GO BACK AND RE-VOICE OLD CUTSCENES YOU COWARDS!!!!
That line read, there's some streamers who just started pandemonium, i cant wait for them to see all this raid had to offer. So awesome.
I sobbed so hard in this cutscene
Griffith and guts
😢😢😢 elidibus I hope we see them again in some form
Doing some digging this may not be the last time we see them again
Look.... The light....
(excuse me i need to go and cry in the corner)
That ending…. Sounded both ominous and teasing. If the star should continue this course, oh look a light. Is he coming back?? Can he fight alongside the WoL? I really wanna know.
Ah, yes, Pandemonium: THE "MY BABY BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSS" quest line.
Pandemonium quests have been significantly better than post-Endwalker msq.
Why? You don't like the whole plot reference to FFIV at is written without ishikawa's input?
@@balazsszucs7055t would have been given a pass if it weren’t the full focus of post game MSQ. Why couldn’t it have been side quests? I just wanted to be a plain ass adventurer, not immediately thrusted into another world crisis.
@@GGMK2002 eh i like the world crisis, think its a lot better than just adventuring tbh.
Saw this last week. Im still not ok…
The very first voice acted cutscene in a raid storyline?! 😃
What? The very first raid all the way back in ARR had voiced cutscenes.
@@dudeguy508 7 or so years later, it is understandable people would forget
@@dudeguy508 Haha! Yeah totally forgot about that. Which is why the question mark was at the end, because I wasn’t sure. Thank you. 😅
@@dudeguy508 Who can blame them, most people downright skip it cuz it too long during the encounter :P ofx they can watch it later but yeah been too long to remember
@@dudeguy508 Another reason people may not know that is because nothing really points people to actively do it. Most skip the ARR raid in favor of continuing to do MSQ and try to reach current.
my heart always ached for themis, so glad that he remembered us. 😭
I cried SO HARD DAMMIT. My son.. my sooooon. We'll meet again, and all of us will be friends. With Hades and Hyth and Lahabread and Eric will be doing father son things happily! GIVE MY ANCIENTS HAPPINESS DAMMIT!
Oh a side note, THIS IS HIS ENGLISH VOICE?! Just doesn't feel right, sounds like Patrick Stewart. :|
It worked A LOT better before they twink-ified him LOL
Yeah, they decided to make Elidibus's voice deep and Yuyuhase's voice high
Yeah he is smoll but his voice is deep HAHA
i mean this happens irl aswell people have voices that dont match what you would think, its a good lesson to not judge
When his voice was cast, we didnt know he was barely above the Ancients' equivalent of Alphinaud's age.
The snapshot sound sent me lol like same girl same
Are we about to cause another flood of light? 7:00 stands out to me a bit. I mean that's what ardbert and his goons did doing way too much good for too long, isn't that what we're doing?
the fact that the song also goes faded with him
I was surprised to find out this was the first voiced raid series cutscene since Coils 12 and 13.
I wish we had gotten to hear lahabraha voice from the past. When I read his txt it’s always calm and precise. A little cold, but it’s definitely not unhinged.
I mean you kinda do? When you fight his evil half at least
@@ThePicoProject Probably Hydaelyn brought him back there. We know she has the ability to do so, thanks to what she said through Krile.
The last mysterious message he talked of puzzles me with excitement. I wonder what it really means?
"Elderly Boy dies Gone Real Gone Sad Gone For Good"
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Question at the end does it implied he was reincarnated? He was in the Athenian sea…yet it looks like he came to the surface.
Yep, the implication is that his soul was just abt to get cleaned from all his memories and be reborn as a baby.
I would’ve loved if at the end with the black screen we had some voices of the mother and the doctor telling her it’s a boy
Still wondering how azem knew we would show up
Venat told them after the msq events but before the final days. It’s a predestination paradox.
@@Wildbarley did she say she was going to?
@@Wildbarley I dont think she knows about pandemonium as it’s like a very kept secret that only few know that even Themis only know about it after investigating, so no I don’t think she told Azem. Also the WoL visited Elpis before Pandemonium so she couldn’t tell Azem even if she could as the WoL hasn’t been to Pandemonium before.
So yeah how did Azem know to the point that they told Themis where to stand so the WoL would drop right on top of him.
@@dragowing1 I was hoping they'd reveal that this patch
My one, ONE complaint about this scene... is the music IMMEDIATELY stopping as soon as Themis fades and the WoL instantly scowling. It felt... kinda weird.
I find it particularly interesting that Themis said “we clash… then I send you forward”
Is this implying the WoLs he summoned during Seat is from the past he encountered in Pandaemonium?
No, he's simply remembering the two instances of us fighting each other, and then him sending us to Elpis in Endwalker
That voice with that face! I know it’s always been his voice but on Themis it’s just funny. Cool but funny.
What do you think the scene at the end means with the bubbles in the water? Who’s talking?
Themis in the sea of Aether obviously. He can still hear his voice.
I think it may be Themis at the point he's able to let go and enter the lifestream for reincarnation.
Our boi's last thoughts before he was likely reincarnated.
One day, I know we will meet again. It won't be him, but I hope he has an amazing life.

So did I miss something? When he sent us to Elpis he said it would consume every mote of his essence but somehow he is in the underworld.
crystal tower was already draining his aether to aetherial sea slowly so the process of time travelling warrior of light made that process faster.
@@jemm113 Keep in mind, even hydaelyn will get reincarnated but since she both attained her lifes purpose with solace and her aether is extremely dispersed, the person formed from her recycled wiped clean aether will be a completely new individual unburdened by any past legacy or memory, outside of a few familiar traits like wanderlust.
when he said "look the light" was that him being reincarnated?
UA-cam really like spoilers huh but at least i didnt put spoilery thumbnail
What armor set is that? Wow! I want that! 😍
It's from the Archfiend Attire set. Unfortunately that was a PVP Series 1 reward from 6.1, so don't think it's obtainable. Hopefully they'll bring it back sometime.
@@lambs5258 thanks. I never pvp so I probably never would have gotten to rank 25 to get it anyway lol
@@MattX28025 They said they'd bring back malmstone rewards eventually. No ETA, though.
The Ktiseos armor of Fending and Slaying has a similar look to it.
And they butchered his last line, the last scene in all other languages implies that he is getting reborn there. But ofc Koji Fox can't have that. Same with Zenos who tells you in other languages that your life was a wonder and he was jealous and wished for something like that but in english he just made it all about the WoL.
You do know that Koji Fox hasn't been doing localization since Shadowbringers, right? The new person in charge is named Kate.
@@AA-ph5dj That's good to know! My bad then!
The fact that they make these kinds of decisions, which can and do mislead the fans, says something about intent.
i got spoiled T_T
And ai don't know whose opinions you've been reading but PLENTY of people condemn the three unsundered for their actions 😂
People can have different opinions of characters in lore.
So they just retconned the part where Elidibus's soul was completely consumed by the tower? Okay then.
@@Zakjuh Based Javik enjoyer.
I really hope and want to see Lahabrea make a come back in the aetherial sea and see his soul free of Athena's corruption and see him finally accept that WoL was the victor and be free of his sense of duty and consider the WoL as the friend that they truly are.
Wow.. english voice over is really bad..as compared to JP voice..which sounds more natural
Matthew Stokoe absolutely nailed it in 5.3 though.
no one cares about jp voice here. it's for japanese players.
Even with Lahabrea becoming whole again and more powerful, Themis still be like “step out of line and I’ll end you”
I feel like 5.3 should’ve been more of a challenge, and I think Elidibus is far more powerful than anyone gives him credit for.
