Lovely of him to show you around the shop. I've been twice and i absolutely love it. You're totally right about the geeky buzz it gives you and the art room is dreamy. When you go again, the café is well worth trying and have a walk down to cromford mill and canal for more things to see. Also, hope you enjoyed the Peter James books. I've read a lot of them and they're great.
I used to live in Cromford and I went to Scarthin Books frequently in the days when there were literally piles of books everywhere. There were piles on every tread of the stairs and also in the bathroom piled up on the floor around the hand basin! Health and safety put paid to all that though. I haven’t lived in the Derbyshire Peak for over 10 years and I still think about that lovely place, especially the art books room which used to have a big grandfather clock ticking slowly away in it. I used to sit in an arm chair looking over the pond and pretend I lived there 🤭. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 💛
Omg stop!!!! That chip shop is where my grandparents used to take me when we went camping and Scarthin is my all time favourite place where they used to take me also and allow me to buy one book! Going up the stairs is scary because the books are everywhere 😂 I also love the hidden cafe! It looks like it’s changed quite a bit. Gosh I’m so glad you got to enjoy it too! ❤
ahhhh i love finding little places like this!! i actually set up an etsy shop recently selling blind dates with books but it is my dream to own a bookshop like this.
I tend to struggle with getting into fantasy books, but I’m hearing a lot of good things about The Shadow of the Gods so will have to check it out. The book shop you visited looked amazing, thanks for the video!
This. Looks. Amazing. I immediately saved this to a new playlist I just created inspired by this video: Bookstores to visit. If I ever get over that side of the world, this is most definitely on my list. It looks like so much fun, I could spend hours. Thank you for sharing Ty!... I also cracked up laughing, thank you for showing me the street, my very first ever 😉 you are too funny
@@kayerosil awww that's great because il be visiting loads more ❤️ haha I don't know why but I'm always so fascinated by streets and buildings in other countries
@@BookishDadReadsYou absolutely do! It looks like you picked a really quiet day too, there’s usually lots of people bustling about in there. 😊 It just gives me such a good vibe every time I go, I love it so much ❤
I love some Norse fantasy as a Swede and bought The Shadow of the Gods a while back. Picking it up tonight because why not. I have a master's degree in Scandinavian archaeology and I'm very “judgy” when it comes to the adaption of the Viking Age and Norse mythology because I have too much academic knowledge in the subject. I have really high hopes for this one tho! ✨
Hey Tyrone! Good to see another video. I hope you’re doing great my friend. Another great video 🎉🙏🤝 I would love to visit this bookshop, (my dream) , one day is to visit the UK 😊

That shop looks amazing. Bit of a drive for me in South Wales but anyone who lives closer is so lucky.
