Wonderful job Mel. Loved how you shared the book with the woman verses just taking it. That shows me you are a straight shooter and someone worth buying from.
They actually let you in the door?? I thought you would be banned from all book fairs after you got kicked out last time. You are Mel the buyer of all books! 😂
What an amazing book fair. I would be there from open to close. I LOVE books I would probably live in a library if I could. I am overwhelmed just watching your video but wish I could be there!!! Thanks so much for showing this spectacular book fair!
I’m so glad you withstood the embarrassment of vlogging in person! It’s much appreciated! It’s so interesting to see you out in the wild doing your work. I could watch for hours and hours
It was interesting to see how this book fair worked. And how many books there were and how much space there was to walk around and look at everything at your leisure. Very nice!
Great Vid Mal , made me think of how I got into reading , whenever i was in trouble my Dad would send me to my room , I'd read a book and when i wanted to come out I'd take the book with me and ask Dad what a certain word meant , he would always mellow because he thought I was using the time constructively as he was an avid reader . The things 10 year olds think up to get out of trouble haha . 40 years later reading at least one book a week and know what most of the words mean hahah .
WOW What an amazing haul. Well done Mel. I bet you are all completely exhausted now. Nice to see you using your cart/trolley. Give Aaron and Maisie a hug from me for helping you. Cant wait to see where you are going to put them all
Greetings Mel, thanks for wearing the camera. 💜 The video was very informative and wow 🤩 what a huge book sale. Thank you for showing us what you picked up. Blessings 🧘🏾♀️🪴
I'm sure you probably know this, but the lock icon next to the sold and completed listings... if you touch that.. you can save yourself a step of having to repeat that process everytime you wanna look up the sold comps for an item.
I usually pick up the items I think I want, then find a corner to go through them all, double checking condition and looking any up I'm not sure about. I think its faster, but to each their own I suppose. Love your content and I'm glad to hear you're doing better Mel. Back pain can be debilitating.
I did that with some books also. I took a cart to the corner of books I wasn’t familiar with then comped in bulk and put back the ones I didn’t want. When your unfamiliar I think that’s a good way to do it.
I personally helped out there last Wednesday at EPIC in Canberra, with the books and organisation of everything, got myself a nice little haul of antique, jewellery and wildlife books first pick exceptional value and contributes towards a great cause. Excellent variety!
Love this video! We have some big sales here, but yours is much more spread out. I can't do it anymore, too old, but I loved it when I could lift bags and keep going. Enjoy your stamina and youth!

Loved this video, thanks for the go pro. Love how your sweet husband is always there to help you. Mine won't do anything for me, give him a hug and tell him to start planning a add on to your shed lol
😄👍. As Donna Summer sang: 'She Works Hard for Her Money!". Thanks for sharing. PS.. the go pro and public vlogging makes you look like a vip official. No worries.
I love that song lol. I might need to practice with the GoPro while I do my grocery shopping or something where I’m in a public space so I become more comfortable with it lol.
Wow I would love to have such a large fair here in the UK, but as I have 200k books in stock probably a good job we don’t ! I am offered thousands of books per week and have to decline so many, not the money but the space
Loved it, thanks Mel.... It's almost like being there myself! You got some great books. Would love to get to a Lifeline Book Fair. Presume they have them in Victoria too.
Next video will just be a pile of books as you’ll be buried behind them somewhere in your shed! 😄📚 I’m really jealous of this kind of event though, it looks awesome! I’d love to go along to one.
More in the collectors room. They also do magazine, CD, DVD and games. I don’t know enough about which comics are worth the money though and because they can price higher here I steer more towards to what I know.
They do individually price them. They have a warehouse that does them and then they put them onto pallets for the book fairs that travel around. Sometimes you can find the same book but they are different prices that’s why I have to keep checking inside the book. Like that blue bird book. I had several of those and they were all priced different.
How will you function if someone like WOB sets up on both Ebay and AZ Oz? As mentioned before, you are able to make crazy money on books that are literally race to the bottom titles here in the UK but if a big company sets up shop and drives down prices wont you and the other book sellers be up the creek without a paddle?
I will pivot to another niche if need be :) I was a clothing and shoe seller before I did books. I always had a small selection of books in my store and when Covid hit I was selling more books so I started to source more books and next thing I was a book seller lol. But I'm always open to change if the market changes. Because I sell books full time I'm aware as the market becomes more saturated and starts changing and I'm always looking ahead and have my ears and eyes open at all times :)

So exciting. Went to ours a couple weeks ago towards closing time so got great deal. Two paper bags full for $5!! Also gave my name to collect all remainder of books if the guy who's name they had from last year didn't want the leftovers. I guess he did because they never called me but when I gave my number they said if he did take them there's always next year😍😍 Great video and fun times. How did you wear your GoPro?
I don’t suppose you managed to pick up a copy of ‘fly fishing’ by J R Hartley did you ? I’ve been ringing around some local book stores and none have it in stock
They’re better quality then the ones we get here in FNQ usually all Ex library books with stamps in them or terrible condition and I’ve gone the past 3 years.
It's because of the humidity ruining the paper. Canberra is very dry in comparison. Book collectors have told me Adelaide is the best city because of the low humidity.
What a great haul!!! Looks like it was a great day! I have a question for you about storing books. Do you put books that have foxing with books on your shelves that don’t have it? Also do you find the foxing mould spreads to other books when stored together? Thank you 😊
Cloe app is much quicker at getting to the sold prices. You really do need a friend or 3 to help out at book sales. We would be getting told off because we also go through the unopened boxes under the tables
A better app would be good. I mix between typing in the title and scanning on eBay but I generally don’t like scanning eBay as it’s not really that accurate.
Ah, so the lady that asked for the book ur holding just wanted the book for her research to help her write her own book? Lol I almost thought it was gonna be some other reseller who's fighting everyone for some rare books or something 😂 (cuz let's be honest, there are some ppl like that out there smh) but the encounter turn out to be pretty wholesome~
They have a checkout for bulk buyers and then a checkout for everyone else. So it didn’t take that long. They have it working like a well oiled machine with plenty of staff to help

Thank you. I had no clue if it would work out as I can’t see the screen on it when it’s strapped to my chest to know if it’s even filming the right angle! I guess the more I practice the better I’ll get and more comfortable I’ll be!
I'm interested in what you spent for all of those books, if you don't want to share that it's totally fine, but pulling a big amount like that I'm always interested.
You can lock the screen. Next to the words sold and comps in the filter there is a little padlock. Just tap it and it will lock any of the filters you want. I always go back and forth with locking mine as sometimes I like to look at how many are listed to know how saturated it is.
Mel, honestly I love your videos so much. I have nothing to do with reselling or whatever. Just really love your voice and personality. Keep em vids coming! Cheers from Vienna, Austria (Europe)

What a fabulous selection of Australian birds books. Beautiful!!
The “snake lady” was so desperate to make a human connection and talk to somebody.
Some of the bird books are really beautiful, it’s no wonder they sell well for me.
Wonderful job Mel. Loved how you shared the book with the woman verses just taking it. That shows me you are a straight shooter and someone worth buying from.
Some people think resellers are greedy at the book fairs but in reality there is plenty for everyone.
@@backfromburnout I'm sure the universe would have rewarded you by sending several other great value books your way. :)

Oh thank you! I had to cut so much footage as it was so long. I wore it until the battery died lol.
That’s a big book fair! I wonder where you get information about book fairs around your area? would love to hear your stories and some tips.
It was interesting to see how this book fair worked. And how many books there were and how much space there was to walk around and look at everything at your leisure. Very nice!
It’s a great book fair! Thank you!
The book fairs here in the USA are a real pain, a lot more cramped and very aggressive buyers
