I'm not the biggest fan of kid rock but I went to a show 10 years ago. Tickets were 20 dollars, t shirts 20 dollars and 5 dollar beers. I have to say it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Dude came out into the crowd of people and sang out in the grass. He told everyone there is no Stars here only people. He made me a fan that day.

I went to a concert in Phoenix, AZ for the same reason. Cheap tickets and beer. One of the best concerts I went to. Kid Rock ran around the multi level stage and did a solo with every instrument. I was/still am very impressed. He is way more talented than I thought.

Kid Rock did the rap/rock/country fusion extremely well. It arguably made his music the most definitively American music you could possibly make, since it combined three very different genres of music created in America. The guys trying to do country rap today apparently have no clue why we all loved the Kid and do it so horribly wrong.

@@aura81295 whatever dude!? Millennials grew up watching re-runs on TV. Well before you got to pick what you watched. barely had cable my whole life. I remember HBO and maybe TNT running Smokey and the Bandit fairly often. As mentioned below, we watched Dukes of Hazard too. Now, I specify Millennials because that is who was coming of age when Kid Rock broke out and became popular. I can't speak for Black Pegasus though, seems odd to me that these recent videos are his first listen of Kid Rock, 25 - 30 years after the fact. that seems crazy to me.

@seangillooley7042 First, The Devil Went Down to Georgia isn't his only song nor his only successful song.
Second, I never said Charlie Daniels' music was rap, but that it "opened the door" for later country rap artists.
Third, what, exactly, do you think rap is? It's vocalizing and often rhyming the lyrics to the rhythm and flow of the music, without particularly singing. That's precisely what Charlie Daniels does. Maybe you can't detect or keep up with the rhythm, but it's there.

Went to the Metallica, Korn, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000 concert. It was the loudest show in history. Kid Rock began his set by screaming "MY NAME IS KIDDDDD!" and jumped off 12ft amp stack hitting the stage at the exact moment the lights, effects, drums and bass all kicked! A whole arena of hard-core metal heads went NUTS! Gives me goosebumps just remembering how perfect it was timed! Was like 5 shots of adrenaline to the entire arena!

The Trump /Kid cop thing... he was so young when he did this. Hank Williams Jr. got ahold of Kid and reined him in from what I understand. Gave him some mature prospective, and became a mentor of sorts for him. Hank came to him as a voice of experience and helped guide him forward. Love them both! If you've never done a spot on Hank Jr. and Senior I'd love to see it!

In reference to Kid saying "pigs" you have to remember that this song was in a different time. There has always been good and bad cops - applies any profession really, but I think that as Kid got older he changed so his views changed. He kept his wild but became "controversial" because now he doesn't say things "to be cool" he speaks what he believes...often simply common sense

I still recommend Playing For Change: When The Levee Breaks (Zepplin cover ft.John Paul Jones) or The Weight (The Band cover ft. Robbie Robertson & Ringo Starr). Also Stevie Ray Vaughan & Johnny Copeland - Tin Pan Alley (a clinic in dirty Texas Blues). All would touch your' soul & just blow you away while showing how music is the universal language. ❤

Correct this is his from his first major album in 1999. He was still heavy in rock/rap a few more years then he started hanging with Hank Williams Jr and they did several live performances together. That kind of started his transition to more of a country sound that more people could connect with. It worked out well for him.
    God bless.

While Kid Rock always threw in a slow song in his albums as a classic ballad for the radios and whatnot, he didn't actually go full-blown country until his BORN FREE album in 2010. This particular song was from his DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE album in 1998, which was also acted as the big debut for one Marshall Matthers (Eminem) who did his first feature in a song called "F*CK OFF". While this WAS NOT his first album, that particular honor being called GRIT SANDWICHES FOR BREAKFAST almost a decade prior to this, this album was the first of three that became his best-selling albums of all time.
