Abortion is a part of our culture now. If you are a filthy low moral woman you can cut the head off your child in the womb here for your convenience. Fuck Ireland.
I wish I was born in Ireland. My ancestors came from there but moved into England where we have many of my families original last name of Donnelly. I will one day change my last name back to Donnelly. I hope to also move to Ireland. Éirinn go Brách
Peadar Kearney was Brendan Behan's uncle, a lad from a typical poverty-stricken Dublin background who was an intellectual without opportunities. He fought hard for independence, a co-founder of the Irish Volunteers in 1913, yet died in poverty. He was exactly what drove the fight for independence. Don't insult him and all of the people of that time by asking to change the anthem, this was driven by the passion to be free and makes me blub every time.

Caol McHugh protestants are what fucked up ireland catholics are saving the irish from their old pagan ways of life believing in about 50 gods so u take ur protestant ass and kick it back up to Northern Ireland and all i can say is God Bless Catholic Ireland

As a teenager, I liked learning national anthems, and I came over this one and absolutely loved it, but I did not know much about the Irish language, and had difficulties with the pronunciation. I sang it over and over and over again trying to get it right, but it was so hard.. Then things happened. From Cu Chulainn to Wolfe Tone and the boys and men of 1798, to the men who sailed across an ocean to America, who fought bravely under Erin's banner in a war not their own, securing for others a freedom long denied them, to the brave Irish heroes of WWI fighting for a nation that oppressed them, to the lads of 1916, standing firm for their liberty in the GPO and the streets of Dublin, to the martyrs shot in Kilmainham Gaol, to the men of the Flying Columns, to the noble Irishmen who fought for another land and another people not their own at the Battle of Jadotville, to the brave Irishmen in their own nation and many others who fight for freedom even today, may God bless you and your nation always, and may the Tricolour always fly tall and proud over a free land and a free people.
Hello, this may seem like a dumb question, but how do I learn to understand these lyrics. I take it Ireland has two languages? I'm from the U.S. but I have a lot of Irish decent, so I'm just really curious. I hope my question didn't sound rude and I hope you understand what I'm asking. Thanks
Can you please keep your rude opinion to yourself? Maybe you're Irish, I don't know. But what if someone said that about something you loved? You wouldn't like that. Just stop being disrespectful, it may be old, but this anthem is beautiful, and we are proud to have it.
in 1916 Michael Colins and his followers began the irish revoultion the republic was born called the republic of ireland. but in the northern Ireland that is under british control. today there is peace let us pray for peace ireland is a beautiful country NO MORE VIOLENCE LET US UNITE SHOW THE WORLD WE CAN LIVE IN PEACE. good luck to ireland in UEFA CUP & QUALIFYING FOR THE WORLD CUP.
I'm sorry but Michael Collins didn't organize the 1916 rising but he did fight in it it will be later in 1922 that he would lead the I.R.A against Britain to free the country.but the republic is symbolicly born in 1916. :)
Marc Aaron James Connolly, Joseph Plunkett and Patrick Pearse were some of the main leaders of 1916. But yeah Michael Collins did take part in 1916,serving as aide to Joseph Plunkett in the GPO during Easter Week but wasn't hugely involved & was put in jail afterwards. After this was when he led a ruthless campaign against everything British in Ireland, leader of the IRA and controlling all IRA volunteer units around the country. His own personal unit he called 'squad' became renowned all over the world eliminating all British government intelligence sources in the City of Dublin. The biggest hit being 14 in one day all in different locations around Dublin. It was only a matter time before the British government conceded.
+BelfastRepEire The worst thing in Ireland's history is, that Mick was shot by another Irishman after evading the King's forces for years. And Mick's death is solely to blame on President de Valera, who sent Mick to sign a treaty he himself wasn't ready to accept. Love Mick Collins, fuck the Long Fella
My brother I am so happy I have read your comment! My mother's maiden name is O'Higgins, she grow up in Dublin. My uncle went to your capital in Chile and was welcomed like he was a long lost king because his name is "O'Higgins" it was very funny hearing it!
I see that you capitalized all the words, but capitalization doesn't work like that in Irish. You would never write "Bhfiann" or "Bpiléar". When the beginning of a word changes like that (eclipsis, it's called in technical terms), you only capitalize the original beginning letter, so in this case it'd be bhFiann and bPiléar.
Ireland's national anthem should & ought to be sung in the Irish language. Ireland's national anthem was written by Pedar Kearney. My late paternal grandmothers maiden name was Kearney, so there could be a great possibility that it was a cousin of mine that wrote Ireland's national anthem. A member of the Barley Corns last name is the same as mine, O'Rourke, my family on the O'Rourke side came from County Sligo/County Leitrim.
Recently found out that I have partial Irish ancestry (an Arab with Irish ancestry, who would have thought lol). There's no way I can claim to be Irish obviously but it's nice to think that one of my forefathers probably spoke Irish and lived in this great land. Would love to visit some day!
As far as i kn ow, khaled, there is a protestant branch of the murphy clan in scotland and elsewhere. and another branch .... a jewish branch. and a muslim or arab branch. and a branch somewhere in asia!!! maybe your ancestors were good, holy, anglophobic, catholics. GOD FORBID!!! Just dont get mugged in one of our ELEVEN cities when you come over.
I have strong Celtic ancestry, but I am American. I plan on moving to Ireland to introduce my blood back to its origins once again. Anyways, I'd like to know where I can learn the Irish Gaelic language. I plan on studying it in time, but I have no clue where to! If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, I agree. All these keyboard warriors (of fál) seem keen to return to bloodier times.

My brother I am so happy I have read your comment! My mother's maiden name is O'Higgins, she grow up in Dublin. My uncle went to your capital in Chile and was welcomed like he was a long lost king because his name is "O'Higgins" it was very funny hearing it!

Your Ancientor Celts had fought like brave soldier with Roman Killing machine.
Your heart will follow your Ancientor
I love you Ireland!♥ Sending love from Poland
I don't know why it made me cry :')
Nationalists tend not to be overly smart.

Does anyone else hate when people say the a in slua in "Buíon dar slua"
I completely understand what you mean , while it should be pronounced with the a (depending where you're from I suppose) , "slu" fits better here lol

One warning the weathers shit

My Granda emmigrated to the States shortly after the Biscuit Factory in Dublin blew up. It blocked the view of the Liffey.
I'm also an Irish nationalist. Thought I should include that bit.
Is this bait?
