"Amhrán na bhFiann", called "The Soldier's Song" in English, is Ireland's national anthem. The music was composed by Peadar Kearney and Patrick Heeney, the original English lyrics by Kearney, and the Irish-language translation, now usually heard, by Liam Ó Rinn. The song has three verses, but only the choral refrain has been officially designated the national anthem.
The Presidential Salute, played when the President of Ireland arrives at an official engagement, consists of the first four bars of the national anthem immediately followed by the last five.

you hear these words from reletives or recent ancestors that took part Ireland's struggle. Songs and flag waving did not bring aboutl a PROUD Irish Republic. Only a Nation can have a National Anthem.
I’ve never seen such confusing phonetics.
Yeah Gaelic is one of those languages where the way the words are spelled seemingly has nothing to do with how they're pronounced. They should go back to the Gaelic script.
@@TomorrowWeLive Their problem is not the script, the problem is that they have not had a spelling reform since ages.
Ah sure leave it. The language is grand. Once you know what letter combinations make what sound your set.

@@macpeepeepoopoo7567 exactly. Irish pronunciation is easier than English because it has a more rigourous explanation as to why things are pronounced as they are. English, on the other side, is a mess because it has loads and loads of different etymological origins with different spellings for you to memorize their pronounciation.
@@TomorrowWeLive yes, i even doubt if the lyric is wrong 😂

Why is there a capital letter in the middle of the word bhFiann?
@Fíonán Murphy it isn't
The word Fiann , the bh is an uru changing the f to a v , the bh is there so you know the original word
@Fíonán Murphy it isn't
@Fíonán Murphy than it isn't dead , it is our national language ,we should protect it,if irish is stupid than your name is stupid , most of the world speak English as a 2nd or even 3+ language not first ,so that is a stupid point
It is because the original word is Fiann, but in the Irish language, words can change pronunciation. In this case, it is called Urú or Eclipsis. They only appear after certain pronouns or numbers. The bh in bhFiann is there to indicate that the F sound became a V sound. But the F is still capital.

Even though sometimes I might feel ashamed to be Irish because of our history with Britain I have always believed that Ireland can help to change the world and I still do to this very day.
Why would you be ashamed of it? We fought forever against them, & while sometimes we helped them, we are generally great.

This national anthem will be great for an I.R.A.(Irish Republican/Revolutionary Army) Song-because "Go on home, British Soldiers" shows disrespect to the U.K. in spite of its vulgar and hateful lyrics.
But is terribly funny though.
The uk showed disrespect to the irish by colonizing them

@Bitch Lasangea I don't know-I have Irish ancestry, but can we just stop arguing.
Disrespect to the uk should be the goal of an ira song

Turn to God! Every human being commits sin and they keep us away from God. There is only one way to reconcile with our heavenly father: by repenting of our mistakes, confessing them, forsaking them and accepting Jesus Christ as our only Lord and Savior, who suffered and died on the cross to pay for our sins in our place. . God loves you and has a place in heaven reserved for you. Read the Bible, seek it and accept it in your life. God bless you.
It´s so sad to hear such a HORRID pronunciation of that endangered cherished language!

@@vidaderafaelveggioriginal Yes, it was originally 'Sinne laochra fáil'. It changed after Eamon de Valera created the party Finna Fáil that they changed the original 'Soldier' for 'Fianna' to boost the popularity of the party

@@vidaderafaelveggioriginal it depends on your political view I suppose. Given that Finna originated with de Valera, which was in good part responsible for the Irish Civil War and the death of Michael Collins, some would consider that version wrong
