Can't wait to try this! A beautiful soup for family or guests. I like having the options for everyone to make their soup just right for them. Since you like a more cooked and chewy dumpling, you might want to try freezing your tofu. Just pierce the package to drain most of the water. Freeze the tofu, then thaw. Freezing rids the tofu of water and the texture is then quite firm. Another suggestion is to brown the tofu since you already have a pan going. I wonder what wheat berries might be like in this soup as my grocery does not sell soy beans. You always come up with simple and clever tricks to add quality and variety to meals. Thank you for your effort.

Hi Sara 😁 You're welcome! Glad you like this meal. I used to freeze my tofu many years ago but then stopped for some reason. I agree...the texture is nice, plus it allows for better soaking up of the sauce. Hmmm... 🤔 wheat berries would be pretty small but it might work out great. I'm always surprised about what combinations taste good together.

🐣Happy Easter!🐣Looks amazing, as always! We had dinner at PF Chang’s a few nights ago while we were out of town. It was delicious, but now I can’t seem to stop craving Asian food! I guess that means I’ll be trying my hand at dumpling soup later this week! ❤️

@@ArdentMichelle Hi Michelle! And yes, I did join your Patreon. It took me a minute to figure out, but in the end I was most triumphant! We shared lots of orders of lo mein, fried rice, lettuce wraps, a Asian Caesar salad, something else I’m forgetting, won ton soup and hot and sour soup. Unfortunately we didn’t know there were shrimp in the won ton soup, and so we had to dash to the pharmacy for Benadryl for our youngest son - he got a shrimp in his second spoonful of broth but saw it and didn’t eat it, so it wasn’t epi pen serious. We hadn’t been to a PF Chang’s in a couple of years since we were in San Jose, and we were very happy to find that there are 2 in the greater Boston area! It’s always so nice when the meal lives up to one’s memories!❤️

@@susans9491 Ok that's what I thought. Thanks for confirming AND also for becoming a Patreon supporter. 💜 It's much appreciated.
Oh my gosh that sounds like such a nice dinner -minus the shrimp and the pharmacy trip of course. My favorite kind of dinners are where we order family style and then all share the food.
I started a video with my favorite noodle dish- very similar to lo mein. I need to finish it. Noodles are super budget friendly and so dang good 😋

Fava beans are not often used in the US, but they are truly delicious and mild...worthy of using more often...you can also air fry the dumplings to seal them...the chinese five spice would really add a nice demension to the broth...you could also easily do this with udon or soba noodles...dts/usa

Happy Easter! I love those Trader Joe’s dumplings too.. I didn’t think of pan frying them before adding them to the soup but that’s a good idea…Hey can I ask you why you use the food prep gloves if you’re just cooking for yourself and your family? I was just curious if there was some bacteria thing I didn’t know about….)

Hi Wendie 😁 Happy Easter! I wore those gloves because the jalapeño can get on your hands and then burn your eyes. I've done that before where I've touched my eyes after handling them...not a fun experience! Some people also say it burns their hands but I've never had that problem.
