- Very sad video to see. In this video we say goodbye to 2 workhorses in the Arriva sector. Yorkshire tiger 618 being a VDL SB120 Plaxton Centro and Arriva Yorkshire 710 DAF DB250 Optare Spectra seen leaving Yorkshire Tigers old depot to scrap in Barnsley, only 4 Spectras remain in revenue service. 1 with Yorkshire tiger in 717 based at Elland. 1 with Arriva Yorkshire in 723 based at Belle Isle in Wakefield having work done but due out soon and 2 ex Arriva ones with Squarepeg.
Thanks for watching
Nobody filmed me when I towed Leopards, Tigers, Dafs, Solos in and out of that yard. 1996 to 2011
You just need to get over yerself.
@@troo_story Shut up lol
R.I.P. I really miss these Arriva optare Spectras, they are legends and were around serving Wakefield and Yorkshire during all of my childhood for nearly 20 years.
Great video enjoyed it very much .Take care
Backed outed but never forgotten
Rest in pieces the buses that got scrapped in this vid
Great video. Take care bud
717 ive heard isnt in use as its got a screwed axel 723 keeps plodering on and squarepeg i think have a few some in there lvery 2 in arriva livery
717 is currently being fixed and withdrawn temporarily, 723 is in working order still and the SquarePeg ones I believe are withdrawn too but not too sure
The tiger optare I've been on that exact bus in Wakefield
The Yorkshire Tiger bus from Waterloo depot is not an Optare. It is a Plaxton Centro, they were built by VDL.
@@WhiteRoseTravel oh yes
why would the scrap it looks modern but is rotting away better put it out of its misery
It’s just old age or had some mechanical problems which couldn’t be fixed
@@TGSUK_Productions ah ok
Very sad to these old buses go
VDL's were awful buses, overheated like crazy in the summer time and freezing cold in the winter, Diamond were glad to get rid of them.
Theres one or two where I live in Bury. They have the same bodywork but they have a Volvo Engine in it.
Ran on heavy oil in Devon back along !!
@@Matt-di6nb we occasionally see volvo centros ex blackpool on trax when something has properly messed up i have seen 1525 on it once before and i know 1526 has covered it too also you get very rare rosso stuff on the first 273 of the morning which then goes onto a bury school route an mcv evora did it once usually get a centro i dont know of any of our vdl centros doing much work at all they are all knackered and the tempos even worse
But good thrash from the ex tiger vdl ones had one down the motorway at 60mph absolutely screaming and stinking of burning metal 😂 and had a few of the blackpool ones on dead runs between rochdale and blackpool my god they are in perfect condition blackpool ones are b7rle
RIP good old buses
that's ashame 710 will never be forgotten
It'll probably be refurbished in a 2 story little home renovation.
Scrapped now in Barnsley
7 what ? Sorry I've forgotten. ....
What was wrong with the first one it didn't look like it had a major incident just looked knackered was it for spare parts?
I don’t actually know tbh, I don’t know full details about the Centro. I just happened to be there at the right time when it happened
@@TGSUK_Productions hm bit weird
It takes T Wigleys about an hour to completely scrap a bus. They don't mess about.
This depot is only storage right?
Yeah it has been since it closed 2 years ago
And now is owned by SPCT
I probably know the guys that was driving the wreckers
Nothing lasts forever
Whoa... What wrong with this new orange bus, hm?? How such things waste! 😒
Did the plaxton Centro crash or caught in a fire
I don’t know tbh.
Aye lad ! I remember them days . Just mammaries now !
How many miles will a bus do in its lifetime?
Between 750k-1mil usually in public service but could do more
TGSUK Productions thanks 👍
Some Routemasters in London, did literally millions of miles in service.
Admittedly some were re-engined, but they still did some staggering mileages.
R Evans that's incredible I guess it's a bit like Triggers broom, apart from the shell most of the parts would have been replaced over the lifetime of the vehicle so most of it wouldn't be original
@@simonnelson7770 Well to a point yes, but you'd be surprised how much of the original was in there still somewhere
The secret was that the chassis and body were able to be easily and quickly seperated, so if the body was fine, but the chassis or engine needed repair or refurbishment, an already previously refurbished chassis would accept the untouched body and be able to be back out into service, earning money, in a matter of a couple of hours, rather than a week or two where the bus wasn't able to be effectively split in half.
.
At the start of the film "Summer Holiday" , you see the cathedral like workshop at Aldenham, where the body and chassis were seperated and then.worked on.
So it meant that the vehicles could be fully refurbished quite regularly and therefore, most of the original running units could usually remain useable.
It was all very clever, but subsequent vehicle deliveries didn't have such an option, so eventually it closed down and is sadly now just a housing estate.
But I think one of the roads is called "Routemaster Close" in respect of it all.
Hope this is of interest.
Cheers
Why does the bus look like its been parked in the wrong neighborhood for a weekend?
It’s been stripped for parts etc that are usable
Good bye blue double bus 😢
That'll be First bus Potteries new fleet then....
Come again?
@@TGSUK_Productions First Bus love to send their finest examples of clapped out 18yr old buses to Stoke. And these buses look like prime candidates...
Ahh now I get, sadly that hasn’t necessarily happened
@@TGSUK_Productions That's such a shame. First bus were hoping to retire some of their fleet of horse-drawn trams around here
Should donate the optare spectra to wythall transport museum
Could have done but who knows
Wythall Transport museum have already a got Spectra for spares.
@@jaggassthey could of used the shell as a cafe , I always think that wythall should open an adjacent bus weekend holiday let busmans holiday park , where they have 5/6 self contained holiday lets using bus shells which are unsalavagable to put on the road, yet useful as accommodation and to tie into there bus museum business model.
@@davidhope5713 It hasn't had that much took off it to be fair. It was a parts bus for R1 NEG.
wythall has 4005 which was given to them by NXWM along with 4001
they could of been sold to people who turn the bus into a home
It’s not very easy to actually do to be honest, especially as the spectra was mostly used as spares for 723 and 717 by the sounds of it
@@TGSUK_Productions fair enough and depends - it would still a do as a non runner home.
Yorkshire Tigers is owned by Arriva Bus.
Yes this is true
my local bus company donates all its old buses to the homeless peoples and they live in these old bus :-(
Now the Frogs have it, all the DAFs will go fir scrap
Best place for Arriva buses. They’re a sxxxe bus company.
Why are their buses always in need of a good wash?
What sort of image are they trying to portray?
Dirty, unreliable and very expensive. I’d rather walk than use them.
But those were in need of scrapping, most of buses do get cleaned
@@TGSUK_Productions I was in High Wycombe last September (2020) for Showbus and honestly a couple of Wright Renowns that were actually on service looked in a worse condition than the buses in this video.
Besides whether the buses in this video needed scrapping or not doesn’t excuse the fact that Arriva buses always look dirty. It wouldn’t harm them to be washed regularly.
Compare Arriva with Go North East (GNE). Sure some buses are dirty, it’s impossible to keep buses spotlessly clean whilst they’re out on the roads but at least GNE do wash their buses regularly and you can tell the difference.
They still look better than the old shit they use around here !
WTF is sad about that? they're sheds
Buses being withdrawn
These were already withdrawn when I filmed this, these were going to Barnsley for scrap
Is there no third world demand for these
I don’t know sadly
You would think so. And places like the Phillipines that still use 1960's Jeepneys.
Not worth the export cost to third word. Better value making them into bean cans. Buses last 20 years or so are just disposable throwaway junk.
Some off them are not wearing hi Vis jacket and there should be clean and not dirty health and safety
No high visibility jacket and wearing all Nike top pretty unprofessional image right there
Who we referring too here?
discusting trespassing keep out private property keep out exploring trespassing
I wasn’t trespassing it was by pure luck
John Barton I was there too it's public land. Keep ur comments to urself. KAREN
idiot come back when you learn some grammar
Lol he was actually filming all this on public land. It’s not trespassing
Thank you ☺️
