@@marcirsigler3691 Yeah! looks like they listened to the fans and checked beta material of the game. Now i'm hyped about this remake.. just like when i was hyped about Elden Ring haha.

I'm glad I found your channel. I'm a non European Gothic fan originally from India. I played the English version back in the day. I really enjoy your content and in particular the recent Iceberg series. I hope the Remake turns out to be good and revives this legendary franchise
The the devs acted so far I'm quite confident in them. Releasing the playable teaser the way it was in order to get a stronger feedback was a genius move and already shows that the devs had a pretty good idea even back then what made Gothic special. I played every Gothic when it came out and it is my fav RPGs series by a long shot, so I really don't wanna hype myself up for thw remake but the devs make that really hard ngl
I also can only explain that by being a genius marketing and dev move, considering they already had the experienced people on the team. Releasing a so obviously flawed and generic teaser made EVERYONE immediately pay attention to it and got them all the feedback they'd ever need, for free. And then immediately turning around and fixing everything in such an impressive way makes their marketing even stronger, esp. compared to other studios these days (ksp2 comes to mind)

Bro, I spent the whole weekend watching reviews about the trailer in russian, polish, english and this is the only deep analysis I have found so far. I can recommend another one made by the youtuber Dark Crazy . That's it. Now, what about if Kai himself makes you an official invitation to attend the gamescom? Can you do it or is still impossible for you? Agree with you. The game looks awesome but it is game and it is meant to be played. Still we have to wait for those lucky guys who will test it in Cologne. Big hug, bro.
Hey, i just found your channel a couple hours ago and i already watched 3 of your videos. Very good production that i didn't expect from the number of subs. That being said, i have an observation that is also a criticism regarding the Swamp Camp. In the OG, i always loved how the Camp had a blue-ish hue at night and when i first saw the trailer i didn't know what was missing but after watching some comparison videos with the OG side by side, i realized that the lamps in the OG were made of ore and that's what illuminated the camp at night. I hope they bring that back since it always made me think that these people have no need of ore and use it in ways other people don't think of. It would be really nice to have the lamps like that again.
Another thing that seems to be missing are those Ore-powered magic "lanterns" of the swamp camp. I wonder if they just decided that having massive ore nuggets unguarded around a camp of criminals was a silly idea.
@@vertigo7082 There should be at least SOME 'ore torches', as you put it, but I always thought it silly that some rogue from the new camp hadn't just run off with at least one of them, considering the size and value of them. I don't mind it though, the blue glow of the ore at night was definitely one of the highlights of the swamp-camp atmosphere, and I'd rather have them again.

The medium merc that GOrn was wearing had the signature pectorale plate on the right side of his chest, plus more plate on the arms. EDIT2: Xardas isn't believed dead by the other mages. Saturas knows exacly where to send you for him, and he does know he is there, qutie alive. The only issue is that no one can get at him because they all get killed by the golems XD.
The wait for your take was worth it! I so far like what I see of Gothic Remake. Evrything Gothic is in there - the atmosphere is very good. Thank you for this analysis - best one on youtube!
Totally agree with the bow and the orc. I was very confused why they did the bow like G3. I really hope is an engine clipping thing not a conscious choice.
24:15 to me this reminds me more of the river that you cross when going from the Old Camp to the Swamp Camp. Sure, the lizards aren't normally there, they would've been into more of the beachy area but maybe they moved them. 24:21 to me this looks more like the goblin cave you pass when going to the New Camp
This went to the absolute top of my list of anticipated games now. Gothic 1 and 2 are still in my top 5 games of all time and I am actually really impressed how faithful it seems to be to the original while improving what needs to be improved. And I am so happy they added quivers as that is something way too many developers neglect, it just adds to the immersion which Gothic is all about. When it comes to the orcs I am actually fine with the change in design. While the orcs in the original was perhaps more unique, but considering that they are supposed to be a huge threat to the kingdom, a bit wiser and more organized orcs seems more plausible than just beastmen. On some parts I am a purist, but this is not a change I am actually opposed to. Maybe because I do like more traditional designs for Orcs akin to LOTR or Warcraft. That being said, The Ulu-Mulu has to be in the game.
1:02 i actually think that this was changed. in original there would be ruined tower near cavalorns hut but it would be above it. and here its on lower elevation. 1:55 it may be goblin caves... big caves across the river near some water fall. i mean originally there were lots of golins there and this would roughly be similar if caves are behind player and rope bridge is hidden somewhere 4:45 that wooden structure may even be that bridge 2:30 i think you are are right about it... nice catch. 2:45 this could be cavalorns hut. but again with some changes. 7:15 is tree breathing? 10:15 i imagine that during the rebellion half of it was burned down and its been neglected because ore barons simply do not expect any attack not to mention some materials could be used for building outer ring. 10:33 roof is black now for some reason... 26:27 or abandoned mine... visiting old mine while flooded... i wish but its probably also collapsed.

Definitely agree with the orcish feedback actually said to a friend while watching the teaser that I hope the armor is for some kind of boss or leader rather than an elite or warrior. Also wished for the orcs to be more ape like rather than a typical fantasy orc however I don’t hate the design and I’m open to it like you said.
2:44 Looks like the first house you encounter when moving from the Old Camp to the New one. It was shot from the road that lead to the Swamp dragon in Gothic 2
Like really people can’t believe how happy that trailer made me I’m from Germany and this was always the best game of all time for me + g2 and night of the raven im stunned and the mods will be on another level long since I ever felt really excited in these times of gaming ❤❤❤❤

So many Analysis and Reaction-videos for the new Gameplay Trailer, I chose to watch yours, because the videos about Gothic you made were all on point and with a high standart of quality. And again, I was right to do so. Thanks for the slo-mo bits, the shots in the beginning were so fast, that you barely could make out alot of details. And yes, a lot of good things came from the trailer. Lots of things that are done really well and look really beautiful, while some other Design-choices at least for me are going in the wrong way, beeing too high-fantasy looking, like Xardas Tower, Skeleton mage and so on. Have you noticed, that the hero still had his hair, while walking around the swamp camp in the high novice armor, just like in the original game?! Something that always felt a little bit off, so I hope this is just an error that happened, while making these scenes for the trailer, simply because these scenes are staged/cheated and the hero there was not really in this chapter at that time at this position of his guild, but cheated via insert characterhelper or something. I think apart from some design choices (wich for a hardcore gothic fan hurt enough, I mean cmon the minecrawler, wtf?! :D ;) ) But apart from that, they are doing a really great job! I don't have the hardware so I'm going to play it anyway far off in the future, but I actually am more positive about it, than I thought I'd be.
The robe of a regular Fire Mage looks the best of all mage robes. It gives the impression of being made of soft material. And it is the most fitting. It seems to me that this trailer was created in a hurry on not the latest build of the game. This could have been due to players' irritation at the lack of gameplay and the overpriced collector's version. You can see some problems in this trailer and some elements that aren't there yet i.e. Gorn still too skinny, Lester and the sleeper brotherhood with no tattoos and blue lanterns in their camp, the guy in the mine with two pickaxes, the faces of less important characters looking worse than the more important characters, the mage scrolling a page, and that generic from classic fantasy look of the orcs and that weird metal armor straight out of Elex or Mad Max. However, these are just my comments, not criticizing. I have noticed that many fans are strongly critical because they do not understand that this trailer is based on some kind of beta so there will be shortcomings. ----------------- Orcs should have fur all over their bodies colored beige and brown. Monkey faces and strange feet. Here they are green muscular orcs. They almost look like they are from WoW. Actually, it's not the first time we've seen something so generic. Once there was a picture of a demon that looks nothing like Gothic looking kohlrabi with clawed demons ;D + wings. -------------- Dialogues should be at the top of the screen and subtitles should appear immediately. Maybe it will be possible to set this in the game options. ------------ I will admit that your opinion is one of the more positive ones which pleases me. I've watched many Polish analyses and they are not so positive. But that may be our ancestral trait - we like to complain. Thanks for your opinion.
at 23:33 you can see left in the background some sort of metal fence which is concerning unless its a sort of placeholder or for the gamescom version so no one goes beyond that point, yet this would stil be a bad fix since it would be unrealistic. also at 24:46 it can be quite visible that those are not sails but spikes. they do not look like firelizards nor are close to such. rather more they look like the 89 godzilla if it had generic spikes on the back. probably the biters or whaever theyir called are supposed to be those things. even though these things look not even close to such and much closer like stated before the 89 godzilla.
20:48 What i find weird in those shots is, that the rain looks like it would stick to 'glass' of the screen. What is a cool effect, im really unsure why this would be here. Kinda looks like an oversight? That kind of effect would be cool if you were in a car, wearing a visor or something like that. but imitating a 'screen' here, would easily break immersion.
It looks overall better than expected, but there's evidence of shortcuts being made. Shortcuts that may simply make it not for many fans of the series. I just hope too much isn't removed or too much added/altered.
It's possible the snowy mountains indicate the New Camp. New Camp members wore fur armor for a reason, to combat the cold and in Gothic 2 that region is covered in snow and ice.
The only thing I would criticize so far are the goblins who simply do not belong where they are from their appearance. In original they look more like some kind of reptilians, here they look like green humans. Its pretty exciting so far and also you can see theres climbing mechanism like some Tomb Raider game.Armors, environment it looks great 👌I hope its that good as we saw right now. Another adventure awaits 💎
That criticism I had as well. Flatten their nose, make their heads broader and for Innos sake let them have their weird squeaky grunt noises, these were suberb!
@@vertigo7082 Yeah and also that armor of orc champion or something like that looks like some kind of medieval overlord. It reminds me of King of the Legion armor from Shadow Fight fighting game. Its good but not for orcs from colony 🫣 There are some mistakes, but it's definitely survivable in my opinion. Trailer is like 7/10 or 7.5/10 ⭐ Fighting system looks promising also 👌
@@shhefu I like that design but only because they look like some dinosaurs 😄 whole monster section is kinda messed up in Remake. Maybe lizard looks ok ( now more like crocodile) but they could do better job with this. Thats probably easiest thing to do 😮💨
Most of this stuff I like. Biggest exception being the dubbing they added but coming from Poland, no dubbing ever was even half as good as what our team did. From the animations I really don't like how the guard is struck by the pickaxe. It's over 20 years later and the original did the animation better. In the current one it looks a bit like the guy got hit by some kind of a club, not a pickaxe. I really wish they did it better.
After playable teaser, people didn't like fighting, but I enjoyed it because it was similarly gimmicky as in original, but not as clunky. I wonder if they redesigned it to have modern fighting...
Mhh I don't like this idea to be frank. That is some high fantasy that would interfere with the "more or less" grounded experience that is Gothic. BUT it should be shrouded in dense fog, just like the rest of the eastern forests.
@@vertigo7082 Very good point. Magical fog (or just common one) would be better. Let's not forget however that in Gothic 2 there was exactly the same problem with Xardas Tower being visible from the Monastery.
The combat in this Gothic Remake is a bit wooden as befits Gothic. The atmosphere of Valley of Mines is certainly there as well. The characters are portrayed quite well. I'm curious about the new things they will add like locations or quests. Overall, it's not bad imo.
Has anyone actually tried to equip and draw a bow they way it was done in Gothic 1? If you did, you can probably tell why it's not a good idea. Plus it would be a nightmare trying to prevent it from clipping through the body. Didn't matter that much in 2001 but it would just look bad in 2024
If be posible become Guru in remake? Templars are cool and like them but with great looking spell efects sound temping become full brotherhood mage not only partial.
No, wind fist hits multiple targets at once (you lock on 1 enemy, but it sweeps those around it as well). It was never very effective though, made sense to use it only during a sleeper magie run only 😄
The Orcs were different. The marsh grass did not sparkle.😢 A lot of soap in the landscapes, no vibes of autumn, animation curves.😢 What will be the character's progression?
One thing i hate....i don.t see the pillers with lump of ores in the swamp camp...it.s just candles ... if it is like this they destroyed the whole vibe..
I personally think that the remake doesn't quite put it on the atmosphere of dark and hopeless colony, due to lightning but... its a remake, some things should be a bit different. Or maybe I'm just nostalgic, being baffled at the time of the release of G1 by the graphics and immersion.
@@vertigo7082 well, I'm in a gaming session of G1 and G2 right now..hardly wait for the release of the remake. They will nail it if they keep the core mechanics.
Now i'm pretty sure, that the first gameplay-demo-pitch was provoking and "sh*tty" on purpose. So the true fans of the series come and spit out what they rly liked about the game and like to see in a remake xD
Two comments: At 24:48, that's most likely not a fire lizard. Those were showcased some months ago in pictures and they look nothing alike. I think they might be Razors, actually. (Changed my mind from a few hours ago) Second, the scene where the guy hammers the nail has me cringing just very slightly. Hammer goes down, hammer goes up, nail waits, then moves into the wood as if by magic. Also, dusting off the wood with his hand? Not a good idea. Still, if that's the biggst criticism I've got then the game's going to be amazing.
@@shhefu At 24:48? Certainly not! We've got shots of snappers in other parts of the trailer and they look nothing like that. Nope, sorry. Snappers have a more elongated snout. We don't know, but I'm still going to say Razors.
I think the only part that really bothers me about the new trailer is the Mage turning the pages of that manuscript. That's NOT how you turn pages, especially when you have a priceless manuscript on your hands, which is most definitely the case in any setting based on medieval europe; each of those manuscripts is hand-made and worth a small fortune. No mage worth the name would ever treat a book like that.
@@SkinnyGaming81 What it looks like is bad animation. Why would he turn the page with magic if that apparently requires a lot more effort than simply using one's fingers in the proper way. Your proposition doesn't make the animation look any less nonsensical.
I also just now realized, if you look closely when the Hero freezes the Goblins, the one on the furthest right throws a rock at the Hero.
Damn good catch!
i think Gnomes from Risen does such thing.
Thats actually really good, we were missing some range enemies. Another option could be drones and swamp flies from Archolos

I believe you can also see a bloodfly in the background behind that caravan. Something seems to be fluttering, like an insect wing
Yeah it looks weird. Could also be a Lurkers tail glitching :D
I like how the barrier in the sky looks like an aurora borealis
-----------------
Orcs should have fur all over their bodies colored beige and brown. Monkey faces and strange feet. Here they are green muscular orcs. They almost look like they are from WoW. Actually, it's not the first time we've seen something so generic. Once there was a picture of a demon that looks nothing like Gothic looking kohlrabi with clawed demons ;D + wings.
--------------
Dialogues should be at the top of the screen and subtitles should appear immediately. Maybe it will be possible to set this in the game options.
------------
I will admit that your opinion is one of the more positive ones which pleases me. I've watched many Polish analyses and they are not so positive. But that may be our ancestral trait - we like to complain. Thanks for your opinion.
Some good points you have there. If everything goes as planned I will release another video tomorrow and adress some of these.
am I the only want that hopes for the old camera view instead of over-the-shoulder? Would be nice to have multiple camera views...
at 23:33 you can see left in the background some sort of metal fence which is concerning unless its a sort of placeholder or for the gamescom version so no one goes beyond that point, yet this would stil be a bad fix since it would be unrealistic.
also at 24:46 it can be quite visible that those are not sails but spikes. they do not look like firelizards nor are close to such. rather more they look like the 89 godzilla if it had generic spikes on the back. probably the biters or whaever theyir called are supposed to be those things. even though these things look not even close to such and much closer like stated before the 89 godzilla.
22:35 I don't think that this is Nek. If you listen carefully in the trailer you can hear a Shadowbeast breathe. So I guess he's just some prey ;)
You might be right! Damn I didn't hear that the first time!
26:00 My guess is Free Mine or Quentin's camp.
Great breakdown
Wow, it really looks like Gothic!
I'm so excited for this, can't wait to play it, so far I'm loving what they showed
I hope is as good as it looks when it comes out
Looka rly cool. I dont wven care if combat is average. Its gothic with 2024 paint
4:11 those must be runes, you can faintly see the fire symbol on it in for few frames
Its good that the forest is so dark, thus the torches become necessary.
Exactly! Embrace the darkness!
I’m so excited for the Remake
not gonna lie, the trailer hyped me up a bit
20:48 What i find weird in those shots is, that the rain looks like it would stick to 'glass' of the screen. What is a cool effect, im really unsure why this would be here. Kinda looks like an oversight? That kind of effect would be cool if you were in a car, wearing a visor or something like that. but imitating a 'screen' here, would easily break immersion.
I have to agree here!
It looks overall better than expected, but there's evidence of shortcuts being made. Shortcuts that may simply make it not for many fans of the series.
I just hope too much isn't removed or too much added/altered.
25:56: This might be the bandit camp.
It's possible the snowy mountains indicate the New Camp. New Camp members wore fur armor for a reason, to combat the cold and in Gothic 2 that region is covered in snow and ice.
@@jimx45 i doubt rice farming would be possible under these conditions
@@vertigo7082 Fair enough
I agree, they should have just built the world anew and inserted all the old NPC and enemy models into it.
God I just hope we get the iconic pole dub again.
OK, here we go!
There you go mate :)
❤❤❤
Much love bröther!
Would be cool if they do the Gothic2 part and NotR as DLC. Combining it with the "1st" game :)
Trailer is like 7/10 or 7.5/10 ⭐ Fighting system looks promising also 👌
they changed also the scavengers. in the original they were some kind of prehistoric birds, now they are like dinosaurs. not good.
@@shhefu I like that design but only because they look like some dinosaurs 😄 whole monster section is kinda messed up in Remake. Maybe lizard looks ok ( now more like crocodile) but they could do better job with this. Thats probably easiest thing to do 😮💨
26:09 it's probably new mine, new mine had waterfall near by so I guess that's new mine
While cautious that it is just a trailer - this looks like Gothic felt playing it 20 years ago.
Original Gothic still looks phenomenal
You mention that you've become a big sceptic. Would you be willing to go into more detail on why? What are the red flags you've seen?
Good question. Maybe I will make a video about this!
@@vertigo7082 Looking forward to it! ^^
I kept hearing ''the euro'' instead of ''the hero'', which I guess it is correct xD
Sorry man I am a bit sick, my pronounciation was a bit off
1:04 I'd say looks like the underground tomb where you get the focus with milten? Just a guess though..
They should keep being able to knock out the merchants and the merchants having everything they were selling and their money on them.
I'll join New Camp just for how it looks at night
Most of this stuff I like. Biggest exception being the dubbing they added but coming from Poland, no dubbing ever was even half as good as what our team did. From the animations I really don't like how the guard is struck by the pickaxe. It's over 20 years later and the original did the animation better. In the current one it looks a bit like the guy got hit by some kind of a club, not a pickaxe. I really wish they did it better.
I don't really care too much about the english dub but yeah I wonder what it will be like in german too.
After playable teaser, people didn't like fighting, but I enjoyed it because it was similarly gimmicky as in original, but not as clunky. I wonder if they redesigned it to have modern fighting...
Gaytigo!
ok
@@vertigo7082 Glad you appreciate
I want to play Gothic remake nooooowww😊
@@Daeinyr don't put pressure on them lads!
Also I wish people differed in body sizes more. I understand that starved people are slim, but a smith or high rank guard shouldnt be slim.
...and the Ricelord is a big lad as well.
Yeah everyone seems to have the same size of arms or overall physique which is weird
Nameless hero looks good but i wonder why they went with a full beard when in the original he Has a goatee.
I would love to come to gamescom, but I will be at LARP Gothic
Man I'd like to come as well
29:05 it would be cool if the tower was magically invisible until player finds it.
IMO, nameless hero now looks like Troy Baker.
But I could be just biased against it, after I saw the first teaser. >_>
at 9:20 i thought that looked alot like xardas's tower
The combat in this Gothic Remake is a bit wooden as befits Gothic. The atmosphere of Valley of Mines is certainly there as well. The characters are portrayed quite well. I'm curious about the new things they will add like locations or quests. Overall, it's not bad imo.
24:45 those look more like snappers, not fire lizards
Has anyone actually tried to equip and draw a bow they way it was done in Gothic 1? If you did, you can probably tell why it's not a good idea. Plus it would be a nightmare trying to prevent it from clipping through the body. Didn't matter that much in 2001 but it would just look bad in 2024
5:01 was that experienced level fighting animation for 2h sword?
If be posible become Guru in remake? Templars are cool and like them but with great looking spell efects sound temping become full brotherhood mage not only partial.
I am very positive that Guru will become an option.
they did my boyz minecralwers dirty ;(
That “new” spell at 24:28 gotta be a Wind Fist, right? It had a similar effect, but was kinda non functioning in the og
I don't think it's windfist in particular but a spell in the same vein. Windfist was single target iirc.
No, wind fist hits multiple targets at once (you lock on 1 enemy, but it sweeps those around it as well). It was never very effective though, made sense to use it only during a sleeper magie run only 😄
I will tell my kids this was vtm bloodlines 2
The Orcs were different. The marsh grass did not sparkle.😢
A lot of soap in the landscapes, no vibes of autumn, animation curves.😢
What will be the character's progression?
One thing i hate....i don.t see the pillers with lump of ores in the swamp camp...it.s just candles ... if it is like this they destroyed the whole vibe..
Yep I forgot to mention that.
I personally think that the remake doesn't quite put it on the atmosphere of dark and hopeless colony, due to lightning but... its a remake, some things should be a bit different. Or maybe I'm just nostalgic, being baffled at the time of the release of G1 by the graphics and immersion.
We have yet to experience it as a whole. When it all comes together it might be very different. Atmosphere is composed of a great many things.
(Changed my mind from a few hours ago)
Second, the scene where the guy hammers the nail has me cringing just very slightly. Hammer goes down, hammer goes up, nail waits, then moves into the wood as if by magic. Also, dusting off the wood with his hand? Not a good idea. Still, if that's the biggst criticism I've got then the game's going to be amazing.
more like snappers if you look at the head (bigger jaw)
I thought the same when I first see it but then I played it in slow motion and he is really turning the page with magic. Or at least it seems so.
@@SkinnyGaming81 What it looks like is bad animation. Why would he turn the page with magic if that apparently requires a lot more effort than simply using one's fingers in the proper way. Your proposition doesn't make the animation look any less nonsensical.
@@khatack I was trying to make the pain lesser 🤣 but you are damn right. Is bad. Very bad. Either way
@@SkinnyGaming81 Pain is power brother ^^
