My dad is a big fan of mini vans, and one of his favorite things is that he can start driving, causing gravity to close the back doors. Such a horrible experience, so many what ifs. We both sometimes wake up and go over to put our hands on them (2 kiddos) to make sure they're fine.
This was back in the 60's and I was about 6 or 7 years old. I found out as an adult my mom and I had been arguing about me sitting in my cousins child safety seat. Mom thought I was to old to be in it but thankfully I was stubborn and kept climbing in it. That summer my grandmother was driving me somewhere and was in a fatal car crash. She was thrown from the car and died because the front seats had no seatbelts. Seatbelts weren't standard back then. Thanks to my cousin's safety seat I walked away with only a bruised arm.
@@kelliewhyte_85 I have a lot of memories of that event. It was extremely scary for me. I got sent to stay with family because my grandmother was in a coma for 10 days and needed brain surgery. Was 8 months pregnant carrying my 3 year old. Didn’t see my 2 yo curled up on the floor and tripped over him. I threw my 3 yo onto the couch in front of me so I could catch myself to protect the baby in my belly and not fall on my 2 yo. We had a couch that have the back cushions that move around and her head hit the one spot there was no pillow. Had to go to her 3 year check up the next day with a big black eye. When I'd just been born, apparently my Dad was doing yard work and didn't see my older brother (then probably 18 months - 2 years old) walk outside into the garden, just doin' shit that toddlers do. Was pretty strenuous work so it was a proper heavy-duty spade and my brother walked right into its path. He ended up getting hit by the bit where the shaft connects to the blade, and Dad still maintains that he'd probably have been decapitated if he'd been a couple of inches to the left of where he was stood. Luckily he wasn't and it was just a case of a lot of ice packs and a check-up with the doctor. Dad's been uncomfortable doing work with a spade ever since.

But my mom had made dinner (potatoes au gratin with sausage sliced on top) I was pretty hungry so I was eating it pretty quickly. I guess I wasn't chewing my food properly. So at some point I'd tossed a slice of sausage in my mouth and started choking not long after because of my lack of chewing. My siblings and my mom were sitting in the living room with me and I started smacking the couch underneath me, trying to get someone's attention. But no one notice for what seemed like forever. Things were getting dark in my vision and so I got up stumbled to the kitchen and as soon as I stepped into the door way of the kitchen, I started heaving and puked in the kitchen. My grandpa almost ran me over. My grandpa just fetched me home after school. I always keep my bag in the boot. He stopped the car in the driveway. I got out the car, and immediately went to the boot to get my bag. And he started to reverse. I shouted and jumped out of the way. He stopped the car to see what was up, then he apologized. And that would be it, except it happened a couple times again. Later he would be diagnosed with Alzheimer's... I think it's related, but I'm not sure.

decided to quick scoop me every each he got. 10/10 not gonna be playing cod ever again
I was like 4 or 5. Went with my Dad and brother to The Army base to go grocery shopping and my Dad also took his LT wife and 3 kids were 6 months, girl 2 and boy 3 because his LT got sent to Vietnam. Anyway we go grocery shopping and I wanted to sit by the window in back seat. Carseats were not used in these days or seat belts. Dad said I had to sit in the middle. My Bro 12 at time beside 3YO then me and 2 YO by the back door window seat I wanted. Baby was in front in Moms arms. I am sitting there pissed because I had to be stuffed in the middle hot summer day. That little shit of 2 yo was playing with door handle my bro was ignoring so I started yelling she is trying to open the door. Dad n bro tell me to shut up a quit pouting. I yell again she is messing with door handle again yelled at this time Dad reaches back to pop me. I didnt get popped the 2 yo brat popped the door n me n my Dad both grabbed her pulled her in the car. I nearly went out the door too. Got gravel in my eye from her feet knocking gravel up. Dad pulled over n I thought I was in trouble. He popped that door open handed the 2 yo to her mom n grabbed me n held onto me for dear life. That 3 yo told them I opened the door my bro got pissed then put the 3 year old in back of station wagon with groceries n told him to shut up lying. My Dad got my eye cleaned out and set me by the door. Put the 2 yo up front. Told me I did good but we got home I told my Mom the LT wife hugged n kissed Dad. Mom got jealous n pissed until she got full story about dad saving the brats life n me helping. I got to pick out dinner n got to go to icecream shop and eat a banana split. Dad swore up n down I saved that kid more than he did. But he hauled her in n me in with his right arm.
Babies are pretty rubbery.... 😬
Not a parent but my mother had bought a rotisserie chicken from the store when she cut it open it was pink in the middle yeah...
We were lucky we only got the flu and nothing else I told her to throw it away but she said she was going to put it in the oven it should be fine nope we still got sick I can't even think about chicken without getting nauseous now for future reference if my mom ever decides to buy chicken again what is the correct temperature and how did we still get sick?
Holy shit parenting is scary
The hot dog one is time for divorce father-in-law and husband allowed a baby to choke to death even though the mother said no it's too big against her protests and then what you start turning red in the face it said she's fine she had to turn blue and purple for her to hurry up and grab her daughter out of her husband pans it's time for divorce and I'm pretty sure that lady would get full custody that is f***** up is my language I am just so mad that even somebody and their right mind a grandfather would be alright feeding a whole hot dog on a bun to a two-year-old man you got to cut that stuff up into tiny pieces not okay any adult and their logical mine would know that like you know the mother knew that but you know the father-in-law and dad said no I would have marched right to the hospital and how to note from a doctor saying they caused her to choke on food because they didn't want to put it into small pieces and then filed for divorce and file for custody
Sorry for this not being my own thing, not being a parent or apparently having anything other than my own being in the womb being my near-death, nevermind being in the incubator - but what's 4-mississippi? A wierd way of saying 4 mililseconds? I know there's a Mississippi River in America but...?
Four seconds. Supposedly in the time it takes to pronounce Mississippi a second has passed
@@ry.butterfly Ohhh, thanks.

Hey kid who called popcorn on the stove "savage" Ummm....thats how we had to do it back in the 60's and 70's unless ur parents could afford or splurge on "Jiffy Pop". Sorry you were born literally 2 weeks ago and can't imagine life before its conveniences. I mean, really? Jeezzzzz. Although, I'm glad it didn't turn out worse for your sister. You know now what NOT to do. Experience is a teacher.
Jeez, no need to be so rude lol. My grandma used to make it that way and I thought it was super cool, since my parents always just microwaved it.
Stove popcorn being called savage. Gosh, It's 2021 and I can't imagine making it any other way. Making popcorn on the stove can be made safely. I make it 3 days a week or so that way for my family. Glad his sister is fine though.
