These are the same people who claim that “words are violence”, and specifically the words they don’t like.
I remember several years ago when 4chan started a series of hoaxes aimed at leftists exactly like this.
One infamous case was, “The 👌 sign is secret sign language for white supremacısts!”
When that went viral, people started seeing real-world consequences for doing this. At least one pro athlete lost their career, people were fired, students were suspended, and photos were flagged and subsequently erased by social media platforms. When the truth about the hoax was released, the media then claimed it “started” as a hoax, but then was “adopted” by the far-right since they loved the idea so much.
Another started with one dude’s “social experiment”, which got some laughs at 4chan and was copied numerous times. Someone printed, in plain text, “It’s okay to be white,” and hung it on a telephone pole on their university’s property. Just one sheet of paper, and just those five words. Angry students took photos of the sign and posted angry rants about white supremacists terrorizing their campus and how they didn’t feel safe. Either the university released a statement that they were investigating the incident and felt whoever hung it up certainly intended to emotionally harm people. When this news was shared on 4chan, people loved it and copied the “experiment”, going as far as printing shirts with those five words in plain text, writing the phrase in chalk on a brick wall in town, and posting it straight to their social media accounts. The leftist nuts who saw these things we’d absolutely certain they were seeing the work of dangerous alt-right “racıally motivated extremists” and at least one kid was suspended from their high school as a result.
Other very similar 4chan hoaxes include “Pepe the Frog meme is a symbol in the neonazi community” and “free-bleeding is female liberation, because men invented feminine hygiene products to r*pe women by proxy”.
In almost every instance, the “social experiments” worked; people would create a handful of fake accounts to post whatever it was to forums, or they’d simply hang up a sign outside, and once a handful of college kids took it halfway seriously, the message got around to the nuts who’d go apeshit (or take the message to heart themselves by refusing to wear hygiene products).
This was all entertainment for 4chan, but it’s just a great exhibit of how easily and thoroughly those idiots are indoctrinated and brainwashed into believing everything they’re told by their own community.
He reminds me of a coworker I used to have. She believes debate doesn’t exist because her side is already right and rather than debating it’s just discussing why the other person is wrong.

So that issue has gone by both Republican and Democrat administrations without either doing anything except let him be a ward of the Brits the whole time. Not letting people talk is a strategy these people do. They ask a question that sounds critical, then cut the person off from answering, deflect the what's being said, or change the topic to make it seem like they didn't have an answer to the question, giving the impression that they're "right" about what was said and that they stumped the person they asked the question to. It's pathetic and disgraceful.
For the most part Conservatives are MUCH quicker to call out and criticize their own. On the left it is much less common and when they are criticized it often is from the radical part of their side rather than the majority (Biden being protested for his stance on Gaza for example by the antisemitic fringe of the left).

Quite right although I agree with the other response which suggests that the response from the left regarding the Gaza conflict is no longer fringe. The progressive left has largely overtaken the Democratic Party, there remains very little of the moderate liberal wing of the party. They are though, whether deeply progressive ideologues or just the old liberals, much more collectivist. Whatever differences they may have are kept firmly behind closed doors, when it’s time to vote or in public discourse they are going to present a united front and vote en bloc. The Republicans could take a lesson from that, it’s how the Democrats manage to win so often. The Gaza situation is a bit different, it references the actual philosophy of the Socialist/Marxist left wherein there will be a colonizer/victim narrative. Within that philosophy the Palestinians are always going to be seen as the victims and Israel as the evil colonizer. Biden is most generally captured by that wing of his party but in this case he can’t really bow to the vicious ideologues of the left as he has done in general. Israel is an historical ally and the only reliable Democratic nation in that area of the world.
