no, you generate it when you setup the wallet. the software and hardware is fully open sourced so people can look at the exact code on the device and verify that it is safe
Hey there, Keystone Gen3 took us more than one year to be developed and there's currently no plan of a Gen 4. We didn't cut support and will keep maintaining Gen2.

Can I use keystone to confirm txns for a current MM account? To add another layer of security. I know you can do this on a ledger. I set up a new MM account with keystone but I'd like to be able to confirm all txns even from current MM account on my keystone. Thank you.
There's no way to add Keystone to support to your existing accounts. They've already been created and they already have private keys generated. So that account that you created by connecting your keystone is the only one that is protected by the Keystone device. If you want all of the crypto in your Metamask account protected by the keystone, you need to transfer everything in your other accounts into the Keystone account.
@@fabiom6137 the same principle applies. When you connect a ledger to MetaMask, you have created a new account that is protected by that ledger device. If you have existing accounts that you would like to have hardware protection, you need to transfer those assets into that ledger based account.

After setting it up I set it to charge connecting it to my laptop and after a while the screen on the wallet went black. I’m guessing wallet turned off & I haven’t been able to turn my wallet on ever since. Any ideas? It’s been a whole day now. I’ve texted Keystone but no help has been received. What would you do?? They no longer have the native Keystone three pro app. They only use third-party apps now the best one that supports the most crypto is OKX app. If you can’t get your device to come on, try holding the power button in for around two or three seconds.

From what I've gathered they're abandoning their companion app and recommending that you use the OKX wallet. There are lots of other 3rd party wallets that are also compatible with the Keystone 3 Pro. I think they wanted to free up their developers from creating the companion app and focus more on the hardware.

Is there any way to link the keystone to existing metamask/solflare/keplr wallets? It seems to just want to create new ones instead of link to my existing. This is an issue when you're staking things that take time to unlock or farming airdrops and then need to manage more wallets.

Yes, they would be mirror images of each other. you could still use both (or either) to access the same wallets.
Did your 3 Pro have a plastic screen protector on it?
If i create shamir backup, does that work on Trezor also shamir compatible? Is it a universal thing like BIP39?
Trezor has a Shamir backup feature. But, I'm not sure if it's interoperable with the way Keystone does theirs.

I understand you don't need a microSD to update the Keystone.
There is a USB cable included and I believe you can do the firmware update that way now as well.
