Scorpions are an old German hard rock band, founded in 1966 (!) and they are still playing ! This song is from the early 90s and is one of their most beautiful songs. Theý have tons of other beautiful ballads. Try out "Still loving you", "Holiday", "Wind of change"... and many others. Here's to your next one !

I think its up to your interpretation. There could be many reasons to call upon an angel.
The line that strikes me is "seek the roses along your way, just beware of the thorns"
Maybe hes in or just got out of a bad relationship or any situation in life, and he's just calling upon an angel to help guide him through a better life

Certain classic - chart topping - songs haven't been reacted to yet...by anyone, and one such recording is "Where Do You To My Lovely" by Peter Sarstedt which got to number one in the UK in 1969. It's certainly not your average pop song. I think you'll like it.

The song is very poetic and could be interpreted to also have spiritual/religious undertones (“passage out of the dark”, “find the door to the promised land”, “in the land of the ‘morning star.) The last could be an allusion to hell (Lucifer Morning Star) whether literal or just as a difficult time. There are others. I tend to view it as spiritual rather than religious. It is a beautiful song however people interpret it.
If you want hear a german Band with German language,, try Null positiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer,, /or,, Broilers - ihr da oben... (sad song about friends, they are gone... 😊
FYI .. the morning star is actually NOT a star. it was mistaken to be one for many centuries as mankind didnt know better. its actually a planet. Planet Venus to be exact . our neighbour . 8)
I seen on another page. It said the devil is calling for an angel. The morning star is to be hell. The devil knows he is defeated and begs to be gotten out.
