Does that machine engrave on wood and plastic too?
Did you use all the above tools in that one project?
I bought engraving tool today, I tried to work with it, but was moving and trembling too much, wasn’t steady and couldn’t do engraving. I watched your video and didn’t saw that is trembling, so this tool has deffect?

Any man that promotes, “thinking for yourself” on his channel, gets my sub. I really enjoyed this video!!! Thank you for the lesson, I was in need of some instruction.
One more suggestion: my first Dremel was very small and lightweight making it very difficult to prevent bouncing around and shaking. So, I taped a weight to the back of my Dremel to help stay still. I tattooed for 20 years and I used this same technique with my rotary tattoo machines which were usually extremely light weight compared to my coil machines. Cool machines can be from brass which is quite heavy. I had already been tattooing for 10 years before I picked up a rotary machine for the first time so to go from something very heavy to something very light made it really difficult to hold my hand still that’s when I just started putting weight on my machines.
Thanks
I’m about to do a few runes on my silve Thor’s hammer I’m making so I will do this 👍🏼
Thanks, very helpful 😃
I’m actually looking at engraving the side plate of my coils, I have a set of all matte black mike pikes and want to make them my own. Also have a few commercial series coils that I’d like to engrave.
After, you can reapply a stencil to block off the surrounding areas. Then use #0-000 steel wool and just brush the engraved area. This will smooth out the etching so it doesn’t look so rough.
Great tip!
I'll have to keep that mind as well. I'll be getting into creating horse shoe nail cross necklaces with soldering on a washer. The cleaning of the solder is quite extensive with using dremel stone bits/diamond bits then lapping and polishing the solder afterwards.
Suggest leaving the stencil in place start to finish.
I've used a Dremel for a number of purposes. But now I want to engrave on steel. Your tutorial was very clear and instructive. Great work. Thanks a lot mate!
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
Suggestion: for smaller objects I like to duct tape them onto a larger round object. Like large jar lid. Sometimes I’ll even put a nail through the top of the lid so I can pivot the lid as I work my way around turns.
Great idea!❤
I didn’t mind that
I’ve been engraving for 12 years and found this to be quite inventive
Nice work
Glad it helped!
will a dremil 3000 work as well
@@Joeygonzales09 , that's what I have, too.
So glad I found your channel! You will hear from me frequently! You’re very patient, helpful and honest!
Glad to have you hear! Thank you!
Thanks so much (to everyone) for the tutorial and various ideas! I am 63 years old and starting this, especially at my age, is VERY difficult and even though I am skilled at wood carving (chip carving with a sharp knife) and other woodworking, I don't know if I can accomplish this type of work or not, but I'm going to try more for knife making and/or woodworking, so thanks again!
Right on! I am glad you inspired to try it! I’m sure you will pick it up in no time!
" Blend grind " is where you even everything out nice and smooth.
I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning safety eye wear. Loved the tutorial
Thank you very much!!! Starting my first engraving now. Your tips helped a lot, made the process simpler than my brain did 😂
I'm in the middle of engraving a gift for a friend. Thank you so much for making these tutorials!!!
Hi, wanted to say thanks for this video. I'm wanting to start engraving on my jewelry (sterling silver) and your video goes a long way to give me some confidence to give it a try.
So glad it helped you!
Thank you, just the thing I was looking for to make permanent plant markers. Very thorough and clear presentation!
Right on! I would love to see your results!
I just found my Dremel case in my shed after 3 years and I’m finally going to learn this haha
Hey, I'm a new subber. I just randomly came across one of your videos on my newsfeed and got instantly hooked. I love the way you actually teach us the framework techniques of power carving rather than just showing us how to do it like so many others. I know what I mean - there is a difference in my head.
Anyway, you've helped me rediscover my passion for projects using my rotary tool, so thank you.
(My wife bought me the damned thing because I kept saying I wanted one, then she got pissed at me because I didn't really know how to use it.)
Great Videos, and thank you for saving my marriage and giving me a little peace and quiet in my workshop.
Haha! I know what you mean bro! I am glad you are getting the fire burning again! It is easy to let it go out. I have to schedule everything in or it wont happen! Throw a video or two up of a project! I'd love to see it. I'm here if you need anything bro! Take care! -Matt
Haha sounds like she needs a different kind rotary tool😋 that way you can spend more time inn the workshop/mancave 😄
Thanks for your help. Cornelius videos are the first ones I've found that teach the actual techniques.
Tim Lebsack glad they are helping my friend!
Stay in touch with me, I am going to start making technical vids for engraving glass, including profile, speed, pulls, shades, water, etc. This is one of the only channels on here for rotary engraving, and Cornelius does a pretty great job, but there is a void that needs to be filled.
Quality production, informative. Thanks for uploading.
Hairstylist and salon owner learning jewelry, here... funny, you said kind of like hair, and it's exactly what I thought right then. Perfect way to explain that to me and fade away the fear. Lol! Cheers.
I like your explanation of using this video to get your creative process going!!! Very clever of you to say that.
Plus your safety guidelines. Safety first. I always stress this to anybody I'm teaching.
Great job man! Hand crafted stuff is some of the coolest stuff to make. Great job. Thanks for the tutorial. God bless.
This is the greatest thing I could have run across. I am making my own lightsaber and I wanted to engrave on it now I know how!!!!
You are very patient, very thorough, and extremely charming to watch and listen too!!!!! I absolutely LOVED THIS VIDEO AND I DEFINITELY LEARNED “TECHNIQUE” that I am now trying to “perfect”!!!!!!! Thanks to you and your willingness to share this video and for making it easy & understandable!!!! Plus you being eye candy 🍭 and helpful you better watch yourself out here us ladies ALWAYS WONDER WHERE THEY HIDE GUYS LIKE YOURSELF!
Haha! Thank you for the comment! I am glad the enjoyed the video!
That was great. Gave me a lot of ideas for engraving door /office plaques. Thank you.
Awesome! glad it helped!
Thank you for your service bro, your vids are always honest, wholesome and helpful.
I appreciate that!
I'm late to the party but I really like the way it turned out. It looks handmade. Not factory done by a robot. Ther is something to be said about a hand craft. I'm about to start trying engraving and carving. I like the way you teach. It's extremely helpful watching you do it as you explain the process. Great video and I'm subscribing
Hey Chad! I appreciate that bro! Glad you are finding the videos useful!
Ever seen engraving with proper tools?
@@nomaschalupas2453 huh? I don't understand your comment
Thank you so much! This helped me engrave my anniversary date into a gift
Right on!
You should take your date out to dinner instead of engraving her tbh
Crimson Hound that’s it. Get out of here.
Thank you for sharing your tips. I consider it a public service you are doing-thank you!
Thank you!
Working on counter tops
Agree
Pretty good 👍work..I would describe this as carving and sculpting...engraving is a clean cut method with a single cutting surface and leaves a shine when cut. I've used a Foredom for several decades and had to change brushes in the motor..takes less than two minute problem..very good tool...I also bought a Harbor freight one for 50$ and it is very good 👍..
Just bought a cheap dremel with 60 piece tool set for something else and came across this video when looking what some of the tools were for. Very interesting. Will probably be trying out a few new things, now. Thanks.
Right on man! Glad the video inspired you!
Great video pal. I’ve done projects like this with my Dremel in the past, but never really took the time to learn proper techniques. Thank you very much. Your piece came out great.
Glad you enjoyed the video!

I am sooooooo thrilled to have found your channel! It’s exactly what I was needing and looking for! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the great tutorial. I like the way you constantly encourge us newbies...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, you've got good hands. Great video, very helpful, thanks!
OMG it's Rush thank you!!
Thanks for the video! I'm still working on wood pieces but I may try this in the future!
Glad you enjoyed it! It is nice to know "how to" even though you haven't done it yet!
This was a really helpful tutorial man, Thank you!
Thank you for the very helpful tips. I'm just now going to get into this. Been wanting to try it forever. Thanks again!!
You are so welcome!
Loved this want to do something similar for friends and family great job and thank you for sharing
Thanks learned alot! Can't wait to start!!
Hey Amanda! So glad the video helped you!
i love handling metals & stone. dunno why. my first ever engrave though was on plastic to label the box of my first ever rotary tool. i think my hands love it.
Your work is amazing I feel inspired to try this
Thank you glad you find it helpful!
Duuuude you're awesome, thanks a LOT! you don't hear such detailed Teachings anywhere🤯
Thanks. This video just gave me the confidence to engrave my rifle receiver.
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I am a beginner metalsmith and realize that learning to engrave the old fashioned way is more time consuming that I care to do. I have a flexshaft (which I love) and was wondering what I could do with it. You gave me some good ideas - especially about going in one direction to smooth it out. Thanks again :)
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanking you Robbbert from Melbourne Australia. Very well done and useful info. Have a great one and stay safe.
You'd think that being a certified welder I wouldn't so much as flinch at something like engraving...but Dammit I'm over-thinking it or something because I got an engraver tool for Christmas (I've always wanted one) but STILL haven't been able to get on with it! Im inexplicably intimidated and nervous and so far this is the ONLY decent video I've found! I'm gonna give it a shot now...THANK YOU!
New territory while learning a new skill can be very intimidating know matter what background you come from! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this video. I am trying to make my own Rose label signs. I had no clue on how to use the Dremel and have been very frustrated. Gosh have I been doing the engraving incorrectly.
This was extremely helpful.
Darlene
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed this tutorial. A tutorial on working on a rounded surface such as a bowl or cup would help with learning to work with surfaces that are not flat.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your educational content. Please consider demonstrating metal engraving on an electric guitar neck-plate.
Man I enjoyed this because I’m always etching on something. The 8:20 mark answered the only question I had. 👍🏽
I have a couple of engravers but I’ve never used my Dremel. However, I’ve got a bracelet that I can hardly wait to engrave with the Dremel a fine diamond bit similar to the one you used. Using a stencil is an excellent idea as well.
I’m a retired barber; the allusion to fading or blending is spot on too.
😉
Thanks for the idea and tips.
Instead of diamond burr, use a '0' or '1' carbide tip, OR h.s.steel burr (after practising on flat tin/copoer/brass to produce acceptable quality.
Diamond will chop up lines as it is crusted tip.
Without this, you may well regret having damaged/ruined the bracelet.
Also, if this is a 'plated surface, plating may peel off if inferior quality.
Do resist temptation to engrave on your bracelet well before becoming skilled enough to do so.
Cool!!! I love watching your videos!!
Thank you Joseph!
Great Video! To simplify any wood or metal engraving, I just print on an on inkjet transparency.. eliminating any vinyl cutter or black marker.
How is that transferred to the piece to be engraved?
Quick clarification: tin is indeed a metal. Most of the periodic table is made up of metals. Also, tin is relatively pricey - zinc is the stuff they use to keep costs down.
Right on, After editing the video I was like.. wait a minute... what did I just say?? lol
Sharpie has a new industrial marker that is much more smudge resistant.
I’ll have to check that out!
This could have been a two minute video.
This video was awesome like the rest of them I just got my Dremel and I'm really excited to start this whole new world! Thank you so much for creating them!
I was wondering if you would talk a little more about stenciling and using vinyl with your work as a stencil. Biggest question I have is why you bother removing the vinyl BEFORE you start to use the dremel. Why can't you dremel with the vinyl on?
That will be a great video idea! There is really no reason why I do that, you could still do that with the vinyl on. That way would be faster perhaps, I am just so used to taking the vinyl off!
@@CorneliusCreations I thought that there might be a problem with it. Maybe the vinyl ruining the drill heads?
Anyway I tried it and it worked well! Made it so I didn't have to sand the letters afterwards. ( assuming I do the sharpie method and everything is black but i want it wood again)
This video earned you another subscriber.. Some of the things I knew already it was great confirmation to see that I'm in the right direction thank you for the tutorial.
Awesome! I look forward to seeing you around!
Spent $50 on 3 3”x4” etched pieces of metal. Yes, that’s inches. Trying to see if I could do it myself. I’ll have to try this out.
How'd it go?
Great gift awesome job thanks your tutorials.
Glad you like it bro!
Fantastic video my guy, very well explained and thorough.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! I want to make custom coins for my family next Christmas. Maybe I'll start with just their names. Thanks again
Looking to make my own stamp for wax seals. I guess I have to start by engraving a letter or two? I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for the tutorial.
Awesome video, a wealth of knowledge. This is my first time seeing you, I've never engraved anythinge, so wish me luck.
Watched this for some help with using my new engraving tool (complete amateur!) as looking to make a personalised something for my daughter, and what do you know but she’s called lily too! Thank you for the video!
Wow that’s awesome!!! Glad it helped you!
Thanks for posting this
Great work and patience.

That looks like fun! Thanks!
Thanks bro, great job.
Thank you so much. I really learned a lot of things from you.
You are so welcome!
I also enjoyed your safety consciousness! Good for you!
Thanks!
Looks good. I am always looking for ways to use my Dremel tool.
Love my foredom and dremel! Many cool ways to engrave!
Right on!
Lolwhen you were talking about rpms i was just thinking about how my electric nail file goes up to 65000 rpm's and the fact that its cordless, compact and the power bank can clip right onto your pants makes me wonder if i should just use it instead of my dremmel.lol probably not, as it was 6 times the price of my dremmel and the bits are 20+ dollars a piece. Which i dont buy anymore.lol anyway, thank you so much for this video! The thing i really find helpful was to score the lettering out first as i have issues with my tool sliding really bad. Tsmfs! New sub!
Thx… good tips but for smaller projects like a locket stencil can’t b made. I had to free hand. I used perm marker to trace and dremel and artist tape for straight lines and paint tape to secure locket and I practiced. Was very difficult!
To paint the engraved writting, what type of paint would you use?
it helps having your hand firm on the desk. if you have your hand on the air is harder to avoid the bit to go anywhere.
Great job man!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great tutorial. Thank you 👌😁👍
Glad you are enjoying them!
Good stuff man!
Thank you Terence!
Very cool sir thank you
Please have more demonstrations on engraving silver.
I would appreciate you telling the name and size of burrs your using. Most popular and famous people do this. You do a great job and I appreciate your instruction. TY
