I Had the great honour to train under higowana sensay in training camp back in Israel 20 years a go. I Was training okinawa Karate for 5 years. Most effective body conditioning, my four arms are still solid like iron even with 20 years passed and I am over 40 now.
One more story about higuana sensay ,
When he came to train in our dojo to hit the makiwara , he completely broke the makiwara ,
And those who don’t know what it is the makiwara is basically a punching device constructed with heavy iron frame bolted to a wall and flexibel wooden beam. The wood was fine , but the iron frame was split open completely after his punches. Scary amount of power!
Thank you for your wisdoms and teachings Higuwana sensay. 🙏🏻

On a course in London many years ago I personally experienced Master Higaonna's throat grip. Honestly, it was like being clamped in a steel vice. In old Shaolin, grappling/gripping w/ hands "literally" is part of the basics. Somehow after the Qing Dynasty collapse, much of the original Shaolin basics ended up in Okinawa. I am a firm believer of the old stories re men's flesh getting torn out by another skilled person's iron grip, or having one's wrist snapped broken by another's strength....

Wow. Very informative video. I 1st saw you on the tv series WAY OF THE WARRIOR. Okinawan Karate. You still have the same you humor and cheeky smile. I remember well. Youngest Grandmaster at only 42 years of age.
The bit that interest me the most, is the above video. Is the closed eyes contact bit at 4.57 into the video in particular. I would like to know more about this technique. If there are more videos. Please show them. Thank you.
I noticed the considerable power difference between your slaps and that of a senior student at 2.30 - 2.38 into the video You generate more power when you are relaxed and focused.
I discovered in my practice something similar when I do massage, aromatherapy or reflexology to aid healing. Not so much as reading the mind, but to influencing REM, (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep or dream sleep. Which only occurs when the body is totally relaxed, helping to rid of bad habits like smoking, snacking between meals or phobias, or autoimmune diseases like asthma, or stress, tension.
At the end of the session you ask the client what they were dreaming about from the REM sleep. It turns out they were dreaming what I was thinking and picturing in my mind, during the session, and on each successive session.
After a few weekly sessions they are no longer smoking. Not aware they have stopped and no longer like cigarettes or cigarette smoke. From 10 to 15 per day to 0. No withdrawal symptoms or no weight gain either.
Thank you again Grandmaster Morio Higaonna Sensei.
