Many people keep these private battles a secret but with you speaking out who knows how many lives you will touch and even change for the better. Addiction is a terrible disease and is often inherited as was with my case. Starting at a very young age I realized that I loved the taste of alcohol and the habit gradually became an addiction. I got counseling many years ago and was able to break the habit. I will always believe that prayer and support got me through those darkest days. Occasionally (twice a year) I may have a Riesling wine with dinner or a beer at a brewery. Believe me when I say that I still love the taste, however, I do not like how the alcohol makes me feel. I have a 10 year old and a 12 month old and what they’ve done for my life is more than I could say. They’re my world! And I know you will be such wonderful parents when the time comes. I’ve commented about this before but I wanted to encourage Joey to try this medication. I picked up drinking during Covid and drank every day for a year straight. I had worked very hard to cut back on drinking over the next two years and got it down to only drinking on vacation or holidays or special occasions. Well I bought a bottle of champagne for new years this year and it took me three days to open because I simply didn’t feel like it. It didn’t sound good. When I finally drank it, I made mimosas, I felt like crap the next day. No energy, bad sleep and all that. I was on semaglutide from April until August this year and I didn’t drink once the whole time I was on it. The first week was hard because my husband took me to Savannah and I had just started the injections and I really wanted to try all the yummy cocktails but I told myself no. After that week I never had another urge. I am back on zepbound now since November and I genuinely have to talk myself into drinking. I’m the kind of person who can’t have one drink. I have to drink until it’s all gone. Not healthy! I am at my goal weight and my doctor advised me to come off zepbound and halt calorie restriction for a little while to see if it will help with my perimenopause symptoms I have developed this year-I’m 43. I am very nervous to stop the shots because I might slip back into drinking too much. This medication is the only thing that has completely taken away all urge to drink. I think it should be given to addicts simply for that reason alone.
I’m so curious to try a different injection location but I’m nervous! I’ve only done my stomach and I’ve been at a stall for 2 weeks. It literally feels like I haven’t even taken it. I want to try my arm or thigh and see if that makes a difference
@@brittni5187 I have tried my stomach, thigh, and behind arm and so far the arm worked so good for me! I know what you mean though because it can make the side effects more intense but I do think it’s worth trying if your in a stall :)
Joey, I went on it for that purpose not that I’m an addict, but I was drinking two martinis in order to help me sleep at night. Ozempic did not stop my wanting a martini or make me sick. The only time I was sick was a few times in the mornings after my coffee, and I also only lost 3 pounds after six months. I’m just fine doing low-carb and I’m doing dry Jan. because I know how much inflammation and water weight comes with drinking. Good luck to you both no matter what you guys continue to do! ❤
The GLP1 requires build up with the one you're on, its slow and gradual as it builds up in your system to change, so you'll notice more soon! :) Good luck to you guys!!!

I have a few people in my personal life who really helped answer any concerns and made me feel less nervous to do it. I’ve only been on a month but I honestly can say I’m so happy I did it and I’m seeing changes already mostly mentally not thinking and obsessing over food, I lost 8 lbs which I wasn’t even expecting. Whatever you decide I’m here for you and hope the best 🫶🏼❤️💞
Hi Amanda and Joey. I am asking this question in relation to anxiety medicine and the possibility of weight gain. Do you feel that is a possibility? Do you think the program you are on will help with the possible weight gain. That is a concern I have regarding medication. If it helps, then it is worth figuring out how not to gain weight. Your picnic was soooooooooo dreamy and fun. Here in a few hours we are going to be in a snowy winterland where nobody knows how to drive in it and the entire state will probably shut down because of some snowflakes!! I know it is hard to ignore the haters in the comments but I will cuss them out for you! Just requesting to please use a darker color on the words on the screen.... I could not read them because they were too small and light colored. Sugar was my drug of choice. I never think about it now. ❤❤
