Just found your enthusiastic, passionate and exemplary review, Andy. I projected the 4K disc on my 120" screen last night: it was almost as close to the experience that overwhelmed me at London's Waterloo IMAX last July! Extraordinary image and sound quality; I was worried that my neighbours would be thumping on my walls! A truly exceptional 4K release. Looking forward to Aliens and The Abyss in 4K!

I didn’t know the Manchester IMAX was the 2nd biggest in Europe and a proper 70mm. Thanks for letting me know that in this great video. Manchester is only 90 odd minutes for me. I’ve been going to a lie-Max in Sheffield which is just a bigger standard screen. Next time there’s an epic - I know where I’m going. Haha. Thanks. And love that I’ve stumbled upon your channel too! @@ElectricGeek After spotting your video here I updated the details of my video to include a link directly to yours so hopefully that will stick a few views your way. Funny that we got them uploaded almost concurrently. I would have been a day earlier but the Royal Mail seemed to hang onto my copy for an extra day which was annoying. Then while I was editing everything together I had a major system crash and for the first time ever with Davinci Resolve it could not bring back all the work I'd done so I lost about 90 minutes work. A little frustrating to say the least but it was worth all the hassle in the end as it's actually doing even better than my The Exorcist review at this point (just) so it's one of the most successful 4K disc review I've done. John.

I also use davinci resolve but i go between it and basic phone-based editing app. Resolve is better but it takes a lot of learning, especially for someone like myself who had zero background in this stuff prior to starting UA-cam. I’m glad to see ur review is doing the numbers, well deserved as there is a lot of competition with this one. It’s a hot release to cover. I’m not surprised at how well urs is doing. I think mine just got lost and maybe because no one can understand my mad scottish ramblings, passionate as they may be 😂

I think they should all be taking Nolan’s lead here. Sure not every film can be a 100million dollar, 3 hr epic filmed in IMAX 70mm lol But filmakers should be campaigning more for their films to be released in the best formats and for them to come to disc with the same care and attention shown there also for sure 👍

Yeah i hadn’t even thought of that. You’re right tho. Only trouble is the movie on 4k barely fits onto a 100gb disc UHD blu ray currently so if it was ever to be remastered at a higher resolution it would likely just be for these high-end media servers. Yeah i absolutely agree, i think i say that verbatim in the video actually! Lol I filmed ans finished this video entirely in 4K so that hopefully the photos came across as detailed as possible to do the disc justice but it still doesn’t look as good as it does actually watching direct. I heard, somewhere else, that Nolan does not use Dolby Vision because he does not like it. I don't know why, though. Maybe too much software processing that alters his original, specific, vision. I don't know. But I know I heard it said, in another review, that he says he will, probably/ definitely, never use it. I'm getting a Panasonic DP-UB820 after Christmas to pair to my LG C1 OLED tv and I've been watching lots of reviews and buying a few 4k films (Dark Knight trilogy, Watchmen steel book, Oppenheimer, Le Mans '66 and an old 80's scifi with Kirk Douglas, called The Final Countdown, that was made in cooperation with the US Navy where the aircraft carrier, USS Nimitz and all it's Grumman Tomcats and other planes were basically loaned to the film makers for a couple of months to make a film where the ship goes through a mysterious, big, swirling, blue cloud that's a portal that transports the whole ship and crew back in time to near Pearl Harbour a few days before the Japanese bombed it, haha. It's on a boutique label and selling out fast. I texted my brother that I'd ordered it, recently, and he came back with, "I watched that again recently it's really good guff").
I can totally believe that Nolan doesn’t like dolby vision or atmos, being the purist that he is. U’ve certainly made a solid start to ur 4k collection 👌 I have the ultimate cut of watchmen 4k but not actually put it on yet! Lol The final countdown is a film i’ve never seen but definitely fancy it. Thanks for reminding me of it! I’ll need to bump it up my watchlist. @@ElectricGeek The label is called Blue Underground. It's the same jet fighters that Maverick was flying in Top Gun back when they were in service before they got decommissioned. My brother said the Americans smashed up every one of them, except 2 as museum pieces, because they had sold 20, 30 or 40 to Iran, before Iran deposed the Shah and went religious fundamentalists with an Ayatollah, etc, and they didn't want to send the planes to that big boneyard aeroplane scrapyard in the desert, so that no one could pilfer bits off of them and Iran can't get spares for their Tomcats. Similar story to why Churchill ordered the destruction of the one of the first computers, Alan Turing's code breaking machine at Bletchley park, so that no one could get their hands on the tech (the computer that was in The Imitation Game with Benedict Cumberbatch). So The Final Countdown and the Top Gun films are some of the only places anyone can see them. We're from North Lanarkshire, hence his 'really good guff' comment, probably. But yeah, Blue Underground. Supposed to be a really good conversation and picture too. Can't wait. Cheers.
Great review! I do need to bag myself a copy. As Del Toro said on X recently "If you own a great 4k HD, Blu Ray, DVD etc of a film you love you are the custodian of those films for generations to come." I am sure you tell your mrs that when she is moaning about you spending the months budget on new films ahahahaha. Review request Barbie 4K plz XD.

Nolan knows how to make a good looking film and he adores physical media. It was obvi gonna look dope. I still enjoyed you enjoying this ;) great vid as always, man.
Have u seen it badger? Or just not into the subject material? I think it’s great. 2nd viewing just as good as the first. I get it won’t be for everyone. I loved the acting, production design, the writing. Visuals off the chart. I honestly can’t pick any fault in it. I think it’s got great pacing for a 3hr movie essentially of people talking about quantum physics 😂😂 Be interesting to see a video on why it didn’t land for you. Ur always good at articulating ur reasons; for or against 👌 Anyway, thanks for watching and for ur comment pal.

Given i’m a big nolan fan and went all the way to manchester to see it, i would have liked the steel to commemorate it but, sadly not gonna happen. Not gonna pay over the odds. Great review mate! I’m in love with this disc and I wish we had more directors that cared for home cinema as much as Nolan.

Oppenheimer might be the only movie in history that could justify an 8K release.

I seen the Blu-ray in CEX. I opened it because it was slimmer and felt flimsy. It had that recycled sign cut out of it. I don't like that.
