Even though some lyrics were off, ya'll get it 😏 besides, us sleepyheads know the lyrics like the back of our hands. Also I so appreciate the dive into the lyrics. You can taste how deep this song is. You can run this song back 100 times and get different angles on what it means. This one took the crown away from TMBTE as my favorite song after listening to it like 60 times on repeat. It still kills me how his voice quivers in the second part when he says "setting me FREE" his voice quivers on free, like he's not sure if he is, or that hes overcome with emotion that he finally is. I still havent figured it out because there's an over arching idea that with his "Ascension" may be referring to his death. Then i went back to the first album which im sure you'll do at some point to get the full picture. At the very end of the album there is a song called "Bloodsport". Its currently fighting with Ascensionism as my favorite lyrically. Ascensionism still takes it musically, but maybe not...see? Its still a battle. When you get there, listen to the original version with the whole band first. The end of the song destroys me. After that you can watch "The Room Below" version thats a stripped version with just Vessel and the piano. One last thing on Ascensionism, in the interlude part of the song where it repeats "Diamonds in the trees, pentagrams in the night sky" he adds in "You make me wish i could disappear" in a somber voice when they do it live. After hearing it live, you can almost hear in deeply layered in the back of the album version. So many layers to this onion we're cooking with. As always, love your insight, it helps make things new again coming from a different pov.

This lyric was made pretty soon after release, so there were no official lyrics (still technically isn't, but we've deciphered the vast majority). Genius lyrics is gonna be your best friend for these since fans have been able to update along the way :) Love love love this! Can't wait for more. Some corrections to the lyric video. these come out so fast people think they hear the lyrics correctly but almost all of them have mistakes - half algorithm half deity (instead of half of a rhythm), who encrypted your dark gospel IN body language (meaning he can see the dark gospel in her body language) there are also some callbacks to Vessel's former project from years ago. "Blacklit paradise" is all I'll say about that. You guys are awesome, highly recommend starting from sundowning album and going through this place will become your tomb, then finishing take me back to eden, namely Euclid as it wraps up the trilogy in the most beautiful way with so many callbacks, an amazing song standalone but legendary with knowledge from the first 2 albums as well.

This song is like a score to short film! It’s so powerful..I think it really speaks to many people in whatever form they need it to, as does all of their lyrics! That last part where he says you make me wish I could disappear always makes me emotional because I, and I’m sure others, can really relate to having been with someone, in whatever form, that made them want to disappear…but yeah…Vessel is a freaking poet and a genius imo! I’m sure someone already said this but does all the song writing minus a few that o think the drummer wrote (older ones I believe), does all the singing/screaming, plays the piano/synths, guitar, and bass! And II does drums! Live they have a whole band and back up female vocals and it’s incredible! Seeing them in May for the first time and I cannot wait!! Really enjoy your reactions! You’re interpretations and understanding of the songs and lyrics are really impressive and spot on as far as I can tell! I love it when you bring your son on…that said, I like your opinion about the darkness. In the dark we see what is light more clearly. It takes robbing us of the sun to see the stars that show we aren’t alone in the universe. Take that down to a personal level…we don’t see the things that are truly light to us until darkness falls. Only when darkness falls do we see the things that have their own shine because even the moon lies and proves it’s dependence on the sun for its illumination
This is the only Sleep Token song to make me cry. Hits you hard. You know, it used to be that Chokehold was my favourite Sleep Token song but I think once you start exploring the rest of their albums, you realise they have some hidden gems and this song is one helluva hidden gem.

However IF I MAY SUGGEST for future reactions it may be better to just listen to the audio and have a more accurate source for the lyrics pulled up to the side - some of these lyric videos are incorrect and while thats no fault of your own at all looking at accurate lyrics is going to give sooo much more depth to ST in particular. I've been here since the release of Sundowning and theres so so much to explore with this band, its lore, and the way lyrics layer across albums and the EPs/single releases to paint a pretty broad picture of abuse, grief, denial, acceptance, and growth. Diamonds in the trees are cell phone towers pentagrams in the night sky are satellites flying over. The cell phone towers are kinda a nod to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We eat so much information. The possibility of stardom to monetize our social profiles profilicity. The pentagrams are stars of dark worship. Another thing the line "be the first to the feast let's choke on the past" brings to mind is the royal taste tester. In medieval times the royal taste tester always ate first to make sure the food wasn't poisoned. If it was, he would die and the king would still be safe.
There are previous works that explain who she is. Guessing his future and mapping onto her fantasy was about becoming famous. In Take me back to Eden he tells her he’ll take a pound of her flesh before she takes a piece of his pay stub. It’s more understandable when you go back to the ep’s then singles then albums. It’s a story but if ya don’t know then you start at the wrong place and are like what’s going on. One last thing on Ascensionism, in the interlude part of the song where it repeats "Diamonds in the trees, pentagrams in the night sky" he adds in "You make me wish i could disappear" in a somber voice when they do it live. After hearing it live, you can almost hear in deeply layered in the back of the album version.

This lyric was made pretty soon after release, so there were no official lyrics (still technically isn't, but we've deciphered the vast majority). Genius lyrics is gonna be your best friend for these since fans have been able to update along the way :)

Some corrections to the lyric video. these come out so fast people think they hear the lyrics correctly but almost all of them have mistakes - half algorithm half deity (instead of half of a rhythm), who encrypted your dark gospel IN body language (meaning he can see the dark gospel in her body language) there are also some callbacks to Vessel's former project from years ago. "Blacklit paradise" is all I'll say about that. You guys are awesome, highly recommend starting from sundowning album and going through this place will become your tomb, then finishing take me back to eden, namely Euclid as it wraps up the trilogy in the most beautiful way with so many callbacks, an amazing song standalone but legendary with knowledge from the first 2 albums as well.

This song is like a score to short film! It’s so powerful..I think it really speaks to many people in whatever form they need it to, as does all of their lyrics! That last part where he says you make me wish I could disappear always makes me emotional because I, and I’m sure others, can really relate to having been with someone, in whatever form, that made them want to disappear…but yeah…Vessel is a freaking poet and a genius imo!
I’m sure someone already said this but does all the song writing minus a few that o think the drummer wrote (older ones I believe), does all the singing/screaming, plays the piano/synths, guitar, and bass! And II does drums! Live they have a whole band and back up female vocals and it’s incredible! Seeing them in May for the first time and I cannot wait!!

I love it when you bring your son on…that said, I like your opinion about the darkness. In the dark we see what is light more clearly. It takes robbing us of the sun to see the stars that show we aren’t alone in the universe. Take that down to a personal level…we don’t see the things that are truly light to us until darkness falls. Only when darkness falls do we see the things that have their own shine because even the moon lies and proves it’s dependence on the sun for its illumination

This is the only Sleep Token song to make me cry. Hits you hard. You know, it used to be that Chokehold was my favourite Sleep Token song but I think once you start exploring the rest of their albums, you realise they have some hidden gems and this song is one helluva hidden gem.

Really cool reaction and very interesting nuanced conversation about the lyrics of this song guys! However IF I MAY SUGGEST for future reactions it may be better to just listen to the audio and have a more accurate source for the lyrics pulled up to the side - some of these lyric videos are incorrect and while thats no fault of your own at all looking at accurate lyrics is going to give sooo much more depth to ST in particular. I've been here since the release of Sundowning and theres so so much to explore with this band, its lore, and the way lyrics layer across albums and the EPs/single releases to paint a pretty broad picture of abuse, grief, denial, acceptance, and growth. Very cool journey to embark on if you so choose!

I think this song is actually about our disconnection with each other and the advent of social media our inability to grapple with it appropriately. Diamonds in the trees are cell phone towers pentagrams in the night sky are satellites flying over. The cell phone towers are kinda a nod to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We eat so much information. The possibility of stardom to monetize our social profiles profilicity. The pentagrams are stars of dark worship. I don’t anything he writes about is merely personal he’s talking about humanity as such

There are previous works that explain who she is. Guessing his future and mapping onto her fantasy was about becoming famous. In Take me back to Eden he tells her he’ll take a pound of her flesh before she takes a piece of his pay stub. It’s more understandable when you go back to the ep’s then singles then albums. It’s a story but if ya don’t know then you start at the wrong place and are like what’s going on.
I also believe she had a drinking problem, I seem to be one of the few that picks up on it as far as I have read in comments.
