This is a really interesting topic. Recently I realised that the two games my mother got with our first game console were a platformer and a racing game, which is interesting as those have always been my two favourite genres. Thanks for the video!
INCREDIBLE list, I have so much overlap. I still go back and play OG Sims for Windows and Age of Empires II, they’re so much more simple and manageable, and it reminds me of using the family computer to build houses with my friends. Animal Crossing for GameCube was mindblowing as well. Too bad I was a Genesis household and didn’t play SNES until much later. And I’ll never forget the first time playing BOTW. Great video!
I'm really into this video! I liked when Retro Rivals did it too, I might totally do a response to this sometime soon. It's always fun to reminisce. I liked your choices a whole lot, it's wild how different games hit everyone. I think that's one of the best parts of talking about games with a community. I also think it's very cool that you acknowledge newer games that really shook you.
Been gaming since the 386, There's a handful that really set each genre over all other games that came after. Some of which I still come back to because they're just so good. I've learned over the last few years with how AAA/AAAA studios just trying to milk their fans has brought me to going back to older games. Mod support, community patches, and just overall knowing exactly what you're getting. Modern gaming is becoming less and less necessary. We might get a few good quality games in a whole year for modern games, and the rest will be forgotten, and with how many studios popping up these days, and with nearly hundreds to thousands of games releasing in a year... Yea.
Great video! Im borned in 2001 so my list its really different -Castlevania Order Of Ecclecia -Pokemon Pearl -Mario Galaxy 2 -Mario kart wii -Zelda Phantom Hourglass
@@samanthaazira yea! I grew up only with DS and Wii until 15yo so I played A LOT of retro games on my hacked systems. My fav Zelda is easily the first one, amazing...

@@samanthaazira we do have Sims 4 and all the dlc on pc for it and there's a lot! I haven't tried it though. Girlfriend buys it all. I have been tempted to give it a go though but i'm afraid i won't have time for anything else then!😂
This really has been a fun and fascinating series to see make the rounds. 😊 It's so cool to hear the kudos for DKC. Man, someday I've got to play at least one, single Pokémon game. You've got Lady Laci's number with Sims and BotW, very nice! Ha ha, your being evil in Fable II, but more, your attempts to sway bf/hubby to your nefarious ways.😂😂
I would say if you want classic with a mix of upgraded mechanics pokemon fire red or leaf green for GBA. If you want something modern and easy pokemon go for switch is fun. Both are the Kanto regin which is the 1st one released.
Really cool Sam. No worries on how long it took to do this video. The video topic is so good anytime because it’s a snapshot into each persons life! I too am a massive lover of BotW. Just earlier someone in a discord group I am in and I were discussing it and he is on the opposite side of that opinion. 😂 Great list and really cool memories. 🍻🤙🏻
Loved your list. Donkey Kong Country 2 is very close to my heart. I've played it numerous times throughout my life and I can remember the first time I saw it my cousin had it at his house and he was completely obsessed. Seeing how much he loved it made me realize I might like it and it just spiraled from there. I won't lie Fable 2 started out rough for me because of having a husband and a child and the fact that the game was glitching out and causing me to lose progress but I can't judge it for that so I restarted it. Downloaded it on the hard drive and remained a spinster 😂😂😂 much better after that! I actually really enjoyed it. It's never going to make my top 10 list but it was a great experience and the fact that the recommendation came from you made it that much better😊
DKC 2 will never not be good and I'm glad we both share that opinion. Same for Alice for me is I will always treasure the game because of how much it means to you.
Ohhh this is a fun topic. Ill go Dkc2, Pokemon Silver, Conkers BFD, Halo 1, and Metroid Zero Mission with honorable mention for COD 1 or classic (very first one) Bioshock 2 and New Vegas
@wangchung2157 those are some epic titles. I will admit i was late to appreciating pokemon Silver, but I would even go as far as saying it's better than the original.
I'm a couple years older, but my 5 gaming influences are probably: 1. Super Mario Bros (1 or 3, played endlessly and still reference for platforming physics) 2. Tengen Tetris (Best Tetris) 3. Street Fighter 2 4. Day of the Tentacle 5. Resident Evil (Director's Cut) EDIT: It seems wrong that Metal Gear Solid isn't on here, so you can sub MGS for DotT or RE:DC.
Lets see mine are: 1. Final fantasy tactics 2. Legend of Zelda a link to the past 3. Super metroid 4. Twisted Metal 2 5. Chrono Trigger Past 5 i would include Final fantasy vi Mario bros 2 Mario world Mega man 2 Mega man x
it's alright. fortunately most can be played on modern consoles. although square is taking their sweet time re-releasing chrono trigger and FF Tactics it seems. they definitely need to be.
The first Sims is the GOAT of the series, and I'll die on that hill 🫡 Oh yes, Age of Empires 👍 have you played Age if Mythology? That's another banger and Zeus : Master of Olympus, which leans into ancient Sim City with RTS battles. Give me a 100-hour plus game, and I'm in heaven 😂 I've never played Fable, don't judge me 😂
@GenerationPixel yea getting these games to work on modern pc at least for the orginal Sims is a pain from what I have seen but im going to try anyway lol. I will have to check out the others I think we have a physical copy of the mythology one or at least one of them
