Just general launching, putting it into the water, getting into it when water that is not deep enough, paddling up to the shoreline, pulling out of the water, scraping bottom in shallow water, rubbing on ground while lifting and moving. Yes, we could probably be more careful, but even at 56lbs, it’s not exactly light weight to handle by yourself. It's a lot easier to put the kayak near the water, get her all loaded up and slide her into the water and out of the water as opposed to carrying her completely off the ground, especially when loaded. Same for taking her out of the water. Yep, I could, and maybe I should, lift her completely off the ground more often, but I don't :). Great video! Debating on wether to buy this model or the Perception Hook Angler 10.5?? Curious on how well it balances out on the water and will it flip. I’m pretty clumsy haha but I’m not close to a big fella. I’m 5’5” roughly 160lbs. Any help or recommendations for someone trying to buy their first fishing kayak , preferably around 10 or 11 feet long. Something easy to carry to and from water in real tight places Thanks in advance guys 🙏
We actually also have the perception hook. Its my wife's and i have not used it. But she seems to like it. However i have to help her get in and out of it. But she has had both knees replaced so it may be more difficult for her than most. The only other issue with the hook is that she carries a large sponge for bailing. No bailing required on the teton. I think the hook was also rated at a higher weight than the teton. Get the teton if you want to get in and out of it easily. The hook is also a bit lighter. Never weighed it so not sure exactly how much. If you watch some of my Kayaking Arizona videos you can see my wifes hook in action. That would probably help the tracking problem LOL. I have just learned to live with it. Make sure you don't stop unless its somewhere you can go off course.
Going over shallow water in the river is where i get my wear. Moving way to fast to stop. Also just the drag putting the boat in and out of the water at the shore line wears it out. I pick mine up as much as possible but sometimes on the shore ya gotta drag it in or out of the water. Thanks for the comment.

@@tara-tech4138 is the level of poor tracking enough you feel like you are fighting just to keep it going straight, or manageable to the point where it would still be an enjoyable ride?
Hey what weight do you recommend is best for this? I'm 14 and about 130 pounds.
Im not sure. Im 5'10" and 185 lbs and it works great!
@@tara-tech4138 Thanks for responding.

This one is actually pretty stable. Thanks for the comment.

Great video!
Debating on wether to buy this model or the Perception Hook Angler 10.5?? (Also sold at Dicks sporting goods)
All Very similar however the Perception Hook is a “sit-in” yak and this one is a “sit on top” yak.
Something easy to carry to and from water in real tight places
Thanks in advance guys 🙏
Here is the link Kayaking Arizona: ua-cam.com/play/PLRfWNiipsrndOkXKTwiUN970aYqXImnUW.html
The clips holding the seat in suck and it is slow
Thank you for the comment.
Build you a rudder.
That would probably help the tracking problem LOL. I have just learned to live with it. Make sure you don't stop unless its somewhere you can go off course.
Never understood the wear that goes onto the bottom of the hull. Pick the damn thing up and don't drag it.
You don't know how to steer. It's not a car on Cruise control. You're on a RIVER with moving water. 🤦🤦
Every other reviewer said it tracks well and maneuvers we'll.
