@Ari Awan Skillwise he could be, but i guess it's to early to say that Kiko is better than Poland. We got some legendary tunes with him from Killig is my Buisness, Peace Sells and So Far So Good, not to mention System has Failed. Kiko on the other hand has only been on Dystopia
I remember reading something from Marty Friedman once talking about the rhythm and that solo and how difficult it was to get it right and nail it consistently. You know its rough when the guy who wrote the thing has trouble with it!
Mike McKeen even the Studio recorded solo itself is a blend of two different guitar takes from Marty. You can hear the second take come in at the end. So even in the original version on the album he didn’t play it all in a row.

Up and coming musicians, take notes. Being a cool, friendly and humble guy like these two is imo one of the most important skills you can have as a band member.

'learn to play first, then learn what it's called'. to me that is the essence of music theory. it's not designed for composing music as people think. its purpose is more to communicate music to one another. it's so we can say to a group of people who've never played together before, "15/16 time, A Minor Phrygian, 16 bar blues, presto tempo" and just do it. or so people can look at a piece of sheet music, see the key, the time signature, the dynamics, the tempo, and be able to sight read much easier knowing they don't have to be ready to play every note in any order. it's more about communicating than composition. In my opinion, composition should be done without actively thinking about theory at all. that's where the best stories are. that's why the best way to learn composition is to learn to play as many wildly different songs as possible. not to dissect theory with paper and pencil without its application in actual music.
ToastedCigar Broderick was the perfect copier, he's a perfectionist. Broderick played every Megadeth solo live 99 if not 100% as on the record. However he wasn't able to bring something interesting in his own solos apart from speed. Kiko as a whole is more flexible I think, if you listen to the album Dystopia he has more feel and tasty solos than Broderick on 3 albums.
I have to agree. 100%. I have listened to the recent Act of Defiance album and it's weak at best. Broderick is a beast when it comes to theory and replicating other players, but he really struggles when it comes to songwriting and composing solos.
I was jamming Angra in like 2002-2003, downloading the songs from Kazaa or Limewire, lol. I remember thinking, Holy crap, this guitar player is awesome, so I've known the name Kiko Loureiro for a long time. Back then I was really into symphonic power metal (Rhapsody, Angra, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Edguy, Blind Guardian, many others. I was also in love and obsessed with Falconer's first album. Anyway, yea, Kiko is amazing, lol.
I like these guys. They are really cool and down to earth. Dave Mustaine autographed one of my guitars in Pasadena Texas when he was promoting rock the vote. Unfortunately i lost it in the pawn shop in he Woodlands Texas.
Ellefson is so personable and engaging. One of metal’s great ambassadors and good guys. And Kiko is a fantastic addition to Megadeth. Monster player who brings his own thing to that institution. I mean, some of the dudes who have passed through its ranks ... yeesh. It’s like scoring the Ozzy gig: If you take that spot in Megadeth, you know you have it going on. Poland ... Friedman ... Drover ... Broderick ... I mean, c’mon. That’s some company.
Ive been a Huge Megadeth fan since the 80s. And I think Kiko is the best guitarist They ever got. Out of all the guitarist they hired to join the band.
I mean, the solo asked by the guy in the audience is OK, I just wish that somehow Megadeth fans could grow interest in some of the Angra's The Temple of Shadows solos, those are certainly more interesting (in my humble opinion of course). Kiko is just such a brazilian pride.
@@juanmanueliglesias4255 He was outstanding but because the band allowed for flexible soloing and scaling, Megadeth you cant go around doing 24/7 Angra solos, it doesnt fit the style as much as Angra is amazing, it just doesnt fit Megadeth's rhytm to solo like he did back then.
Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now playing Megadeth. -- Ego from Ratatouille after listening to Kiko and Dave :)
I remember always wanting a Jackson cause Megadeth played them. Now I like ESP but I'm gonna get a good Jackson again. I used to have a Kelly that was pretty bad ass.

Ellefson is like the spokesman for Megadeth, Mustaine is too busy defending himself or talking about his history and Kiko isn't happy unless he's playing. it's funny to watch Kiko at any interview when he has a guitar in his hands, he's always playing with the amp off waiting for a chance to turn it on. He's such an awesome addition to Megadeth, not that Marty isn't one of the most awesome guitarists ever but I just don't care for his attitude about Megadeth. He's fine any other time but when he was in Megadeth or talks about it he's just got an attitude I don't care for. Kiko and Ellefson are both super cool guys and the best spokesmen for the band.

Even though I like Chris Broderick and he is a beast of a player, I think that Kiko is so much more interesting of a player and fits Megadeth better
