- Minecraft alternate casting pyramid tutorial with lava and water, lava cast but reversed every second time we do the water cast! Watercasting was developed by Guy Jepson, I use his method with kelp to make this further development of the water casting method, I call it the alternate casting, which I believe is the absolutely fastest way you can make a huge pyramid in minecraft without cheats. Liked and subscribed! Thank you so much for your excellent video and thank you for giving me the credit for the discovery! Indeed, back when I invented this process in 2016, I did use alternate casting to try to achieve my goal of building a "Maximum Pyramid" as it was a bit faster. However, when trying to pour water on a pyramid that was covered in lava and near 255 blocks high, I experienced so much lag from all those blocks updating that my computer would freeze and sometimes crash completely. It was beautiful and led to some strange glitches like when summoning the Ender Dragon, two obsidian pillars would appear on top of each other, and the End Gateway reappearing on top of the pyramid! I assume some of the glitches wont occur in the more recent updates to Minecraft. Alas, my computer has since died and the files and screenshots along with it, unless my friend Joe still has them by some miracle.
Also, aesthetically, I wanted to make a hollow inner cavity as vast as possible, so large that it would shelter the entire Ender Dragon Island. With lava casting or alternate casting, you won't have a hollow inner cavity. To get one you have to you do have to build a framework to cast over. It all depends on what you want your end result to be. The problem with lava casting on big structures is that it is very difficult to predict how the blocks will update when they are converted from lava to cobblestone, leading to irregularities and imperfections. Water casting is slower and much more predictable, and should yield a perfect cast every single time.
By the way, great catch on omitting the sea grass! Years ago when I was trouble-shooting this process I concluded that that extra kelp was necessary, but I'm not sure why I decided that! At the time I didn't use seagrass and just used kelp which caused an additional issue; kelp will grow into flowing water and create new water sources which could lead to blemishes and imperfections. I since then added seagrass to prevent any unwanted kelp growth. Now I see that seagrass could be unnecessary altogether! However, seagrass IS very necessary if you want to build your pyramid out at right angles!
I'm so glad that my idea is getting traction, and hopefully I will make videos explaining the ins and outs of the process. I can only hope that I can make videos that are as polished and enjoyable to watch as yours! Big thanks to Latvian minecrafter for showing my video to you!

It's great that the method of watercasting allows for a less laggy casting method for everyone with old computers, and that it makes making inner cavities faster to carve out. I just wanted the largest pyramid possible as fast as possible, tried it before but didn't work, very smart of you to find out that one can raise water level with kelp to make it possible!
Haha thanks I'm lazy so tried very quickly to remove it and it seemed to work fine, glad I could help improve original method then.
It's not very hard to make videos if one has time to do so, just cut out some dead time and keep one video for one subject ;) (I am however infamous for dragging on and do complex tutorials, look at my channel and you find many over one hour tutorials....)

@@GMODISM I'd like to see how a super powerful computer would handle alternate casting on a Maximum Pyramid. It may work fine, I'm not sure. I know I've seen griefers crash servers by doing large lava castings. Water Casting provides an alternative for those who want to do large casting projects on servers without causing any issues, in theory, I've never actually tested it!
No need to carve out inner cavities if you water cast over a staircase cross-frame, something that I omitted in my video, and only loosely (badly) tried to describe. I developed a very clever technique, If I may say so, of lava casting downward staircases. Meaning from up on high, you lava cast downward bit by bit, making a staircase without ever having any cobblestone! This technique eventually gave me the idea of making Lava Cast Pyramids in the first place. I'd be happy to teach you. By the way, You should check out the neat patters created inside the Alternate Cast Pyramid you made!
I should add that it was your videos that inspired me to make my own. I saw how beautiful and elaborate your casting projects were and I realized that it was only a matter of time before YOU discovered Water Casting on your own! If you would like to do a collaboration some time, please let me know. I really like Minecraft but I don't want to play singleplayer, and the only time I do is in creative to test out things. I realy want to play mulitplayer survival, but I have no one to play with! So, yeah, we should get a Realm or server going if you want. We should invite Latvian minecrafter, since he seems to be a fan of us both!

I tried to replace the kelp with slab (I placed it on top with "top" position) and it's work. This discovery is useful on a server that stucks on older version before aquatic.

Okay great, little faster because stone create not only when water fall on lava but when lava fall on water too. But that spread a lot less and grief less

this also works with the staircase method! but be sure to pour the lava down first
For some reason both methods don't work for some reason I followed both tutorials and for some reason the gap for water gets covered up by stone and the water stops flowing
