Momorius, Fanatec tried to blame this exclusively on not using the screw or installing it incorrectly. I didn't do any of those, the screw was installed correctly in my case.
+momorious I don't use the fixation screw with my CSW 2.5 either. Not with any of my rims, and I don't get any flex whatsoever. I don't have the Mclaren rim though.
Did I hear you right? Did you say you still need to use the fixation screw on the metal quick release? I have that rim and QR. there is no fixation screw nor any place for one. It works great.
Gitterdunne16 they told me to still do so as my bmw wheel made very loud chatter noises over bumps and curbs. That's when they told me it is recommended to use it still. Many don't, but they recommend to do so.
RTA MOTORSPORTS , Maybe I’m confused. Like I said, with the metal quick release there is no screw or a hole for a screw. It’s not necessary which is why Fanatec doesn’t include one. If they told you to still use one, I don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s really not a big deal. Just didn’t want other subscribers to be misinformed. Thanks for the prompt reply.
Gitterdunne16 ??? There is a hole and a screw that came with mine lol on the bottom when you pull the qr the hole is exposed. But many don't use it and I do find conflicting information on their site where sometimes it says it's only optional and other times it says it is necessary but as far as my BMW wheel goes I have to use it or else the rattling is just unbearable.
RTA MOTORSPORTS, Wow! I just went and looked at mine, thinking the whole time that I must sound like a loon. But... there is no screw hole on mine. Maybe they retroactively added the fix screw after your problem. Very strange, huh? Lol
I never use the screw with the QRA and I'm using an OSW small mige. I did at the very beginning with my CSW but pretty soon realised it was fine without it.
Interesting. I have that rim also and the F1 black rim. Never felt the need. In the beginning I had a creaking noise which I was convinced was coming from the wheel base and rim, so I used it. Turns out, eventually I worked out that it was the actual wheel DECK on my cockpit. Obvioiusly turning the wheel made it flex slightly and that's why I attributed it to turning the wheel. I understand why they provide it and recommend it. No harm in using it especially if you only run 1 rim. But I have 3 and it would be highly annoying. I already rounded one of them, then swapped it over when I bought another rim. They come 1 with each rim.
AnToN_CheZ yeah in my case the chatter was extremely loud and i confirmed it was the quick release at the time. Trust me I wish I didn't really have to use it but it got to the point where it doesn't really bother me that much lol
AnToN_CheZ yeah in the video it's very misleading. The fixation screw on all ClubSport Rims including the QR adapter is optional and you don't necessarily have to use it. I never used that screw on all of my 5 Rims since 2012 and never had any issues or any need to use the screw^^
I have exactly the same problem! I am in the process of returning the McLaren GT3 rim back to Fanatec for the second time. As annoying as this is, I must say that Fanatec customer service have been great with communication and sorting these issues. As stated by RTA Motorsports the issue is with the defect of the pins on the rim and I hope this is rectified as this is by far my best and main rim at present.
Can someone explain what Fanatec means by "Please note your data must first be transferred to our logistics center. Once they have processed it, you will receive your shipping label via email." I don't understand this part of the rma process.
Hi everyone. I think i figured out whats going wrong. Do you all have load cell pedals having problem with the wheels? Well that is the case. When you hard press the brake pedal and force it down by lets say 80kg that power must have an 80 kg negative force on stg to balance. That 80kg power goes onto your wheel on one side since you press the brake pedal with one leg only. That causes a torque on the mounting that it wasnt designed to. You practically want to break your wheel off by pulling it right as you press the brake pedal. The weekest part breaks and then the game is over and yes it is either the wheel itself or the mounting. Guess why qr2 is out now?
@@RTAMOTORSPORTS some wheels are made rock solid some others have cheap plastic parts. Plastic isnt flexible while metal is. So as you band the metal the plastic breaks. My wrc wheel broke the second time this way so I had to change it to a more solid f1 wheel. The qr1 coming whith the wheel is also solid metal. Does a better job so far.
i love all of mt fanate gear but in a word, they are bullshitting to cover there multi use=multi sales solution. that plastic crappy cheap clamp is not fit for heavy use on a csw base, but they do have a solution that is the optional QR. they shouldnt be saying that its optional, it should be marketed and sold as a necessity!
It it not a necessity. Many people are using the plastic QR and it works just fine. They want to keep the price down so they put the plastic on it. It is mostly intended for the CSL Elite wheelbase though, since if you can afford the CSW wheelbase, you can also afford the proper QR. The wheel would be too expensive. Although i definitely think that 100 dollars for the QR are too much. You could buy something else for that money that actually makes a difference while driving and not only when changing wheels.
I am hoping you could help me please , my gt3 won’t sit straight I’ve downloaded latest drivers , it says on the little screen “CAL” any help from anyone is appreciated... playing on pc
We should not forget that many of those "I have the same issue" guys, never read the manual and some even forgot to use the screw on the CSL "quick" release. I've even seen pictures of McLaren wheels which had the mounting screw in but the clamping mechanism was folded to the side, screw not going through it!? Which obviously leads to the same defect without any hardware issue on the device(s).
I have issues while shifting. Double shifts, missing shifts, rotaries are not working any more :( I'm really disappointed for the issues in the rim. 2 hours of use and no abuse
Sooooo I goofed up!! The fixation screw is optional for csw quick releases, as i just got clarification from fanatec. Sorry for the confusion!!!

EditedFaun 36459 great to hear!
I bet those rubber grips are rough.
Finally...!!! 😄👌👍🏻 CRASH...!!! 🤗 Back in full form man...!!! 😎👌
Norman Robinson yup yup!
Can someone explain what Fanatec means by "Please note your data must
first be transferred to our logistics center. Once they have processed
it, you will receive your shipping label via email." I don't understand
this part of the rma process.
I can't answer for them necessarily but it seems there going to process issues your having with the wheel first before sending it or another back.
@@RTAMOTORSPORTS Yes they are but I don't understand what this step in the RMA process means.
nice video,
Hi everyone.
That is interesting, I have since modified the wheel for my accuforce wheel base but I'm curious if that could be causing the issue as well.
Yeah , I like it better this one then the BMW GT2 or Formula rim . Feels perfect in Your hands
i love all of mt fanate gear but in a word, they are bullshitting to cover there multi use=multi sales solution. that plastic crappy cheap clamp is not fit for heavy use on a csw base, but they do have a solution that is the optional QR. they shouldnt be saying that its optional, it should be marketed and sold as a necessity!
I WAS AFFECTED
We should not forget that many of those "I have the same issue" guys, never read the manual and some even forgot to use the screw on the CSL "quick" release. I've even seen pictures of McLaren wheels which had the mounting screw in but the clamping mechanism was folded to the side, screw not going through it!? Which obviously leads to the same defect without any hardware issue on the device(s).
I have the same issue and I've used the alloy quick release from day 1...
did you have any new issues on the rim?
No although i did end up ordering the QR
I have issues while shifting. Double shifts, missing shifts, rotaries are not working any more :(
I'm really disappointed for the issues in the rim.
2 hours of use and no abuse
@@nikolatesla7796i would then contact fanatec.
RTA MOTORSPORTS Thank you man!!
@@nikolatesla7796 you're not the only one mate.
