I just went to Banff to shoot photos and used the Osmo Pocket 3 to make a little sizzle reel. I love the fact it doesn't draw attention, the footage as crispy, and it's sooooo easy to use
I’m going to Singapore this week and because I’m a pro, I was like “LEMME BRING THE ZV-E1 WITH A 16-35mm” but I forgot about having fun. But then I realized wow, why am I slipping into old habits and think I need all of this huge gear. I had to really challenge myself on this. This makes content creation fun again. It’s so easy and encourages me to shoot more
I actually use it for photos. I shoot in JPEG and tweak them in Snapseed. It’s a brilliant camera for stills. Viewed on my 65” 4K tv the results are spectacular.
I just bought one for these situations. I can't be bothered dragging out a big camera setup for behind the scenes shots and just love this. I had the MK1 osmo pocket but the screen was way too small. This version is so much better.
Point 3 was my favorite! I am also super lens conscious out in public, filming not secretly but inconspicuously is very important as I’m doing it for the enjoyment and don’t want to draw attention. It’s like blending in as a tourist and you don’t even have to carry a camera bag! Super unique take! I’ve not purchased one yet but edging closer and closer. Point 2 was great as well because filming on an iPhone is a pain as you have to keep it out of your camera roll and only on a flash drive then follow the same workflow as standard videos.
I was gifted one. DJI really nailed it--including an active tracking gimbal in a consumer priced camera was a brilliant idea.--. Everything is thought out, from the accessories to the phone app--it just works instinctively with the app and the camera intrinsically intertwined, but can still stand alone. Editing footage on the fly... actually feasible. The hard case is brilliant.... sturdy enough to shove in a jeans pocket and easily accessable. When I first got it, I downloaded the app, turned on the Pocket, and immediately that and my phone started to interconnect, with screen prompts for the whole thing--no need to even look at the instructions. Having gone through tedious processes (using the manual) to set up phone apps for Nikon, Lumix and Olympus, this was a breath of fresh air. These companies better start paying attention to DJI.
Honestly, without knowing that your previous videos were shot with it, I would not have had any idea. I watch on my phone and maybe would have seen on a tv or something but honestly, really enjoyed your videos with it. Granted I like your stories and thoughts and to me that is more important than the video quality. All in all, cool to know how it happens BtS
This has convinced me to dust mine off and try it again for an upcoming trip! I feel like I loved the idea and concept, just wasnt sold on the actual video quality
Love the video! I’m a photographer too and I love my pocket 3!!! I do event photography so I use attachments I use to help mount the DJI onto my camera’s hot shoe (so it sits up there like a mic) and I can have my full attention on capturing the moments 😊 extra option if there’s no place to set it up :)
I use a Sony cx405 for recording, I'm thinking of buying this due to the fact of its size and the video/ photo capabilities, some settings on the camcorder don't allow you to record and shoot. Sucks to record put it down and then pull out my phone to shoot a photo, I feelayne this ease that.
I am looking at getting one for my wife and I. Wife for her crafting videos and for me yo kind of vlog how i see the workd around me. Im visually impaired (totally colorblind and photosensitivity)
I know i have seen that in some videos that the camera is following you and i noticed that as you talk and move sometimes it has followed your face :D Love that little camera
Gavin Hardcastle films all of his @fototripper episodes using the Osmo Pocket. It's a great camera. So useful. I like that it can make timelapse scenes, and you can shoot decent looking b-roll with it. I got the freewell filters for it and they work great.
At first I was like idk about this video, I just do photography. And now after watching and looking at sample footage and a couple other UA-cam videos about it im like damn, I think this may be something I could use or have fun playing with lol.
This is exactly my new kit ! As a professional videographer / photographer the Osmo quality for social media is a good value. Sometimes I use it for my clients with manual hyperlapses and timelapses mode. I'm going to NYC next week to use it in a new video project. For exemple my last video : ua-cam.com/video/XGQyMffKcr8/v-deo.html
Right Mr Herring; we did this dance on the Leica M8 and again its happened. I go buy a Pocket 3 because I want to up my video game a little and then I see you've got one too! Are we actually the same person? Great points as per usual Can you buy a M240 please so I can get a review on it before I take a punt on one :P
Thanks, well done Dave, I'm nearly convinced, and I have absolutely no interest in video. I generally think that DJI make very good products that are technologically very advanced. However, has your example been reliable ? One of your fellow UA-camrs (Thomas Heaton) had a real problem with the complete failure of one during a foreign trip !
I used Canon for many years but moved to Sony after nearly breaking my back carrying camera gear 6yrs ago. They were the only mirrorless back then, but they remain the best.
No, this video was made for photographers. I was getting video clips from my phone solely as a photographer for many years prior to starting a UA-cam channel.
Excellent points. Love point three. It’s about capturing the moment. Not drawing attention to ourselves.
For sure. I don’t want any eyes on me.
I bought a Pocket 3 a week ago and it rapidly replaced my iPhone, my GoPro and my Panasonic Lumix. It's utterly perfect for vlogging!
Agreed!
What do u use it for? U have no videos on ur channel lol
You’re asking what I use the Pocket3 for? Literally any video where I’m outside since April 2024 is with this camera.
@@davidherring I was trying to respond to pippcarron 😭😭 thanks for the response tho lol

Love Banff! I was there in the fall a couple of years ago and it was one of my favorite times I’ve ever been.

You won’t regret getting one. I use mine all the time! First camera like this I’ve actually used.

I actually stopped using the hard case haha. I just throw it in my pocket as is. I’ll report back when I inevitably break it.
Stop influencing me. I keep trying to put off buying one.
It’s time, Benj.
Same!!!!
It's always good to influence your wife to buy one instead. Mine bought one for her content creation stuff, guess who's the one who uses it? 😉
@hugobeltranv haha
You won't be sorry!
Great points… best video from a photographers perspective. Thanks for the effort in sharing this post.
Thank you!

Thanks man. Yeah it’s a great little device and I plan to keep using it as my main outdoor cam.
This has convinced me to dust mine off and try it again for an upcoming trip! I feel like I loved the idea and concept, just wasnt sold on the actual video quality
Sounds like it’s time to give it another try!
ND filters for sure!
As a photographer I really appreciate this point of view, thank you. I’m now thinking of getting one just to use it as you explained.
Thanks! I really have enjoyed it.
I’ve been looking at this for months now might be the time for my nyc trip
It's a great time because they're actually in stock!

I hadn’t considered a hot shoe mount!
Thanks! Great real world advice
Thanks!
Great video. I agree with all these points. So easy to use. Love transferring to my phone and editing on capcut.
Transferring is so easy on this.

It really is!

Wait, there's a new product to purchase? Hell yeah!
Always
Do you have a link to that Amazon trip pod? Thanks!

Wich tripod was that Sir?
amzn.to/4esMhvs
True story. I bought one not long after it came out. I played around with it a couple of times but have never used it to actually film anything.
Sounds like you should use it.
What formats are you using and how are you editing this Dave? Definitely keen on the compactness and idea of having one.
I shoot DLOG, 24fps, ND64, and edit in Davinci with Phantom LUTs and Dehancer.
@@davidherring nice! Thanks for the response.

What’s the name/link to that 6ft tripod???
amzn.to/4eGSLXN
Interesting video Dave. But I think you need to update "my video kit" section on this vid. :)
Haha you’re not wrong
Is this pocket the latest? Or is there a newest?
Yep, it's the latest!
Do you use ND filters for your standard daylight footage? Curious which ones if so.
Yep! I got the DJI branded 3 pack and I use the middle one (64).
Can we take excellent photos with dji pocket 3?
I’ve seen some cool stuff people have done taking photos with the Pocket3!
DJI Gang!! It's so clutch.
100%! I love it.
Can you provide the link for that extendable tripod?

@@davidherringthanks, I just got it. It’s good.
Does it come with a build in ND filter?
No, but that would have been cool!
can you shoot video in portraits with that?
Yep!

Ha, you can't miss with a 240. The back screen is pretty bad, but the camera is fantastic.
All well and good, and I wanted to like it, but all the footage I've see looks bad for an 1' sensor
It's all trade offs. To me, it's 100% fine for what I use it for.
Audio is … I used to film dj’s at shows and audio is awful. Any advice to grab good audio? Maybe tascam ?
Idk, I’m not having issues using the DJI mic.
His video was on the Pocket 2, if I’m not mistaken. Regardless, everyone has unique workflows and experiences. Mine have been wonderful.
But think about your biceps when filming with the sony compared to the pocket 3!
I’m too weak
Cojos I récord long videos?
It will go as long as your SD card allows. No limit.
The only thing I don't like about this camera is the focusing
Yeah it loves a face but not much more.
If it was a canon it be 5X heavier
I used Canon for many years but moved to Sony after nearly breaking my back carrying camera gear 6yrs ago. They were the only mirrorless back then, but they remain the best.
I think you’re conflating photographers with UA-camrs. Most photographers aren’t UA-camrs. Most people don’t always film themselves.
No, this video was made for photographers. I was getting video clips from my phone solely as a photographer for many years prior to starting a UA-cam channel.
Agree with @mdjmurray
@@davidherringthen you weren’t a photographer.
Ok
cool chek out my "metro " short with pocket 3
Will do!
Paid😂😂😂this thing is useless
Every video I’ve made this summer has been with this. Take care.
