- South Africa and Wales play at Twickenham this weekend with Rassie Erasmus and Warren Gatland naming their squads.
Both have injuries but there is a big disparity in quality between the sides!
The Boks respect Wales. The 50 point drubbing that happened before the RWC was very unusual, and Wales are a proud nation. I don;t expect an easy game.

Hendrikse is the next utility back like Francois Steyn in their eyes. Cerebral multitasker that will go with their 6/2 7/1 splits and Ngomezulu will definitely get a chance in 2nd half as well.

Hope the Boks manage a win and a good one mainly to hit Gatland between the eyes for being a consistent jerk about the Boks and not showing them respect.
I think Springboks chose a strong team because we know that Wales is still a formidable opponent and Wales are building themselves for 2027/2031 World cups. Best of luck to both, I'll be in Green and Gold 😅
Springboks are not playing people from Europe, bulls and England leagues. It is a development team, but development is being done gradually. They are blooding 2 flyhalves but supporting them very substantially. They are also shaking out cobwebs from Japanese basex players.
No South African expects a hammering of the Welsh. Warren Gatland recently said his focus at the moment is not to win, but build a team that's hard to beat. He's achieved that with past Welsh teams and I expect this new iteration to be hard to beat too.

Wales team seems to be about creating depth. The yardstick then becomes who can perform at this level. If Gatland gets 2 clear answers he has got what he needed.
I don’t think the Boks will go out there to destroy Wales. Will be more of a test combinations. Practice the new game plan with Tony Brown. Will like to see how that goes! We actually watching history. For the first time in history we watching a kiwi attack coach in the Springbok setup

Welsh rugby great with great supporters but I cannot see them beating the Springboks. I am South African and wish for a great game.
I think Rassie's grooming Hendricks as a replacement for Pollard. There is room for both Libbok and Hendrickse, Rassie has shown that they will always pick the team they think will do the job against their opposition. It all depends on how the Bok want to play.
If Wales loose within 40. That is a win for them!

Wales are a proud rugby nation and I expect the players will individually and collectively step up. Springboks supporter here and definitely not writing off Wales. My mom being Welsh (and secretly supporting them even against the Boks!) means I want to see Wales regain their rightful spot in world rugby. This game is where they start that journey.

TBH the guaranteed Bok starters in this team at full strength are Malcolm, Eben, PSDT, and Jesse. At full strength the other guys would either be replacements or not in the team.
There are some players like Marx & Kwagga that are returning from injury and had to have a hit out before Ire. Others have not played for a couple of weeks and this is a change to get some cohesion with new systems and approaches. I think it was always going to be a strong team selection regardless of any point-making....

My worry is for the Welsh pack - they look both light and light on experience.

It's going to be a tough game. Wales have sucha rich histiry and are a proud rugby nation. I think the Bok side is exciting, but also excpect soem nerves from the new guys. Looking forward to Saturday. Libbk, IMHO, is on the outer. The young 10's in Nohamba, Hendrikse and Shasha Ngmonezulu Feinberg ( we call him Bob for short on our chat group) are better rounded.
While i don't expect Wale sto roll over I just cannot see them troubling the boks at all this weekend Worse is the fact that i doubt they will even trouble Australia in the 2 test series following W.Gatland looks to be using the summer as a talent finding exercise I just hope he can come up with a descent 23 by the Autumn otherwise Wales are ;looking at a completely winless year
