Red-tailed Hawk and Bald Eagle Vocalization
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 тра 2021
- For such a powerful bird, the Bald Eagle emits a surprisingly weak-sounding call, usually a series of high-pitched whistling or piping notes. This vocalization is so unimpressive that Hollywood sound editors often dub over a Bald Eagle's call, with a far more impressive sound; the piercing, earthy screams of a smaller bird, the Red-tailed Hawk.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Alaska Raptor Center, located in Sitka Alaska, provides medical treatment for over 200 injured bald eagles and other birds each year. Our goal is to release our patients back into the wild; some, however, are injured so severely they could not survive in the wild even after rehabilitation. These birds may join our Raptors-in-Residence, providing excitement and education for more than 80,000 annual visitors and for the 15,000 schoolchildren we reach through the Adopt-a-raptor program and classroom presentations around the country.

We've been tricked, we've been backstabbed, and we've been quite possibly bamboozled.
Lol. The hawk may not seem impressive but up close when it's swooping on you and shrieking like that it's terrifying.
For real
For as scary as a bird an eagle is it has a weak cry or screech compared to a hawk.
Got darn dirty blue's!
Hollywood: No, that's not an eagle. I'm just not feeling it. Now, that red tailed hawk, that's an eagle. That's what the audience wants when they see an eagle.
I love how the eagle looks more intimidating but the hawk’s call is just downright terrifying
Bald eagles always have this look of outrage and indignation
The eagle is WAY more dangerous. But in the vocalization department the hawk wins for sure.
They both in their rights can’t destroy you
On the other claw the Red Tailed Hawk looks like it isn't sure whether it forgot to turn the stove off or not. 😄
You call the bald eagle intimidating ha you should see the shoebill
The bald eagle may be The Face of America, but the red-tailed hawk is clearly The Voice of Freedom!

@@thiccbaby2967perhaps you heard the hawks call and assumed it must be a bald eagle
Here's another thing. Whenever you hear a lion roaring in fiction, they seldom utter real lion roars or growls. Instead, filmmakers usually use tiger and/or leopard vocalizations.
Sometimes it's a guy named Frank snarling into a metal trashcan.
@@ovni2295 Frank Welker, to add.
Not roars..all roars are lions roars because lions have the best roar among big cats..what you are referring is growl..lions don’t have the best growl unfortunately..it’s too deep and cannot capture that well..that’s why they replace it with tiger or leopard growl
@@thamara2130 too deep? How can it be too deep. As long as it's above 20Hz it's fine
@@thamara2130 That’s verifiably false lmao. On every front. Most movies and even many nature documentaries will dub a tiger’s roar over a lions. This is because tigers sound strong and intimidating and lions sound like daycore cows. And lion growls are most definitely not “too deep” to capture properly… That’s just a hot load of horseshit lmao

Mee too bruh
Although I’m not sure how many Bald Eagles one would FIND in the Old West compared to buteos like the Red-Tailed. Not all that much open water, I think.
Apparently there's a native story in the Pacific Northwest about how Bald Eagles were the only raptor to help other birds find their voices, the others were too proud. So they alone get to sing, where the other raptors only get to squawk.
That's a neat story
I think the bald Eagles have such I beautiful sond. I think I love it so much because of brother bear.
Bald Eagle: I lead those to a treasure I cannot have.
How nice
Red tailed hawk: AMUUURRRIIICCAAAAAAA!!!

If you wanted to convey the idea that the US is a powerful but friendly country, the Bald Eagle with its actual call makes more sense.
Within that context that actually makes a LOT of sense
@@someguyontheinternet7 Problem being that sea-eagles, like the Bald Eagle, are habitual kleptoparasites-they frequently harass ospreys and gulls to steal their catch, even if that’s definitely not the only way they can get food.

The Red-Tailed Hawk has enjoyed a long standing career as the official voice actor for the Bald Eagle. 😂
there's a red-tailed hawk somewhere in my neighborhood who does the classic Hollywood sound a couple of times an hour, usually in the afternoon/evening, it's very impressive lol I do like the bald eagle's call too, it's very musical and reminds me a little bit of King Ghidorah's roars from the 60s Godzilla movies lol

Unfortunately the bald eagle most certainly does not carry a big stick either
@@luxdolphin-care6586 holy shit dude that’s badass.
I love both their sounds, I don’t know why people think the bald eagle sounds weak it sounds like a bird.
Misconceptions. I find the sound a bit scary up close anyway. It's a lot higher pitch than people think, because it really isn't this cute little squeak.
It's just a softer sound. Doesn't hit quite the same way to the human brain.
It's just the contrast between the expecation and the reality.

Bald Eagle expectation: Scream of the freedom
Bald Eagle reality: Seagull noises
Red tailed hawk: scream of holy terror
Bald eagle: guinea pig wheaking
Both sound insane, beautiful birds

The Bald eagle remains America's perfect mascot: The strongest bird around, yet never crying out for bloodshed or war. As Theodore Roosevelt had stated, "Speak softly and carry a huge stick."
Eagle is the symbol of freedom, but hawk is the voice of freedom!

After a careful consideration of both of these arguments, I have to say... these are two majestic birdos
I remember hearing the Bald Eagle at the Minnesota Zoo (Tempest was his name) who kept doing this screeching cackling almost like a stereotypical witch cackle.
I love how the real bald eagle just laughs like a movie villain having just accomplished his latest nefarious plan. Meanwhile, the red tailed hawk yells at you as if saying “IT’S YOUUUU!” like he thinks you’ve wronged him before.

The eagle had such a beautiful sound. While the hawk sounds like a force to be reckoned with.
Two birds that haven’t forgotten that they are in the dinosaur family.
My hole life I lived a lie
The eagle clip reminded me of the Mike Tyson Simpson's prison episode. "Hey you guys be quiet.", and the riot stops and everyone gets back in their cells.
One time I saw a crow unwisely land on a freeway light next to a bald eagle. Crows can fly backwards, I didn't know that until I saw it. It was pretty hilarious.
I heard an eagle over Ash Grove Mo today! Saw it too! Majestic!
Both birds are majestic in their own way
Beautiful creatures.
I had a hawk in my backyard the other day so now I have their call stuck in my head. Its amazing how loud they are
the fact that Hollywood lied to us for decades about what the bald eagle sounds like kinda annoys me, but it's still a majestic bird. even if it's calls aren't nearly as impressive as that of a hawk.

To the Red Dead Redemption 2 fans among us: They actually did their homework on this one. You won't catch Eagles making Hawk calls and vice versa. The eagles actually make those kinds of noises, and Hawks respectively.

I’m not a fan of birds being right next to me, but it’s just amazing to hear those birds speak. The eagle doesn’t sound like a songbird, and only somewhat like a gull, but still has a unique call that is the true voice of American freedom. The hawk’s call, on the other hand, is the absolute LAST thing I want to hear before I potentially get dive-bombed and pecked at.
The hawk was so much more succinct with his point.
the eagle is so cute!
Wait, so the voice of Freedom, was actually a HAWK?!
Even tho its head is so small, the hawk still looks kinda scary.
